Ann Romney's favourite designer, who has successfully flown under the American fashion radar, has revealed the secrets behind her conservative wardrobe choices. According to Alfred Fiandaca, Mrs Romney chooses her outfits with Mitt in mind, is 'edgier' than people realise, and almost always buys her clothes directly off the rack. In one of his first ever interviews, Boston-based designer told WWD: 'She’s always thinking about what Mitt would like her to look like. She definitely dresses for him. Mitt likes her to wear red and pink, to have a defined waist and

I hate to say this, but Fiandaca was designing for my late former MIL in the 1970s.

He must have been just a kid. She thought he was the cat's PJs.

According to his website, he is a third generation fashion designer (very big in Boston):

Fiandaca has dressed many stylish women like Audrey Hepburn, Lady Bird Johnson, Julie Andrews, Louise Fletcher for the 1975 Academy Awards (winner best actress for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Gail Ryan for the 2000 Academy Awards (winner makeup Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas), Anita Baker, Nancy Reagan, Jean Kennedy, Pia Lindstrom, Pauline Boardman Pitt, Jane Dudley, Sarah Farrish, Barbara Wainscott Berger, and HRH. Most married women do dress for their husbands. I don't get the headline.

Mrs. Obama dresses like she's trying to annoy Fred Sanford. That's a puzzle, since Redd Foxx died awhile back.

Ann is a real woman - all of us dress for our husbands. Makes them proud to squire us around! I choose all hubby's shirts and ties so it's a shared activity.

P.S. Ann Romney could don sackcloth and ashes and still look amazing!

Boring, passe, tripe.

I was brain-washed thoroughly with this stuff when in college. I think it ruined a lot of women's chances for good marriages. They were always being told they couldn't love and please a man and be a strong complete woman at the same time. Nonsense!

I think Ann is gorgeous and cannot believe how old she is. My husband did not care what I wore and pronounced me lovely when I was out sweating in the sun and wearing paint stained saggy slacks and ripped tee shirt. Cannot think of the linebacker without laughing at her tiny shrugs and behind sticking out like a bumper on a car. I never seem to notice her toned arms.

WASHINGTON — In the days leading up to President Obama’s trip to Europe, the director of the Secret Service, Julia A. Although it had been nearly two years since several agents were caught soliciting prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia, shortly before Mr. Obama arrived there for a summit meeting, Ms. Pierson said the agency remained under scrutiny. Agents should be reminded, she said, to be on their best behavior during the coming trip to Europe, where Mr. Obama

Even with more than two years left in his term, President Obama’s ability to fill many of his administration’s most important jobs is rapidly diminishing. White House officials are scrambling to reassess their confirmation strategy in the wake of two major setbacks this month: the Senate’s rejection of lawyer Debo Adegbile to head the Justice Department’s civil rights division and signs that surgeon general nominee Vivek H. On Tuesday, the administration appointed Karl Remón Thompson as acting head of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel — bypassing the Senate confirmation process
