Old Smirkin' Joe:
American Spectator, by Paul Kengor

Original Article

I'd like to share a story on Senator Joe Biden that happened 31 years ago, and may be relevant to Biden's Thursday evening debate with Paul Ryan. It involved Biden's international humiliation of a good man, and it became a habit for Biden. I'm confident Biden may aim to repeat the performance with Paul Ryan in the vice-presidential debate, looking to "Quayle" the youthful Wisconsin congressman in a way worse than Lloyd Bentsen might have done. The "good man" I'm referring to is William P. "Bill" Clark, also known as Judge Clark. Clark, now 80 years old,

My, my, it's difficult to picture Plugs grilling anyone on facts about foreign affairs. It's difficult to picture him as a font of knowledge about anything. Plugs is the guy who told Perky Katie about four years ago that FDR was President on Black Friday of 1929 and after the crash, he got on t.v. to reassure the American People that all would be well with him at the helm of our nation. Plugs also believes j-o-b-s is a three letter word.

Lots can change in 31 years, and it seems that those years have not been kind to Biden - certainly not to Biden's brain. I really think Ryan has nothing to worry about concerning this debate. Ryan should certainly prepare, though, and be on his guard to catch Plugs when he lies or makes one of his many gaffes.

The following seems apropos, mutatis mutandis:

Biden My Time

Some fellers like to tip-toe through the tulips
Some fellers go on singin' in the rain
Some fellers keep on paintin' skies with rainbows
Some fellers go on singin' down the lane
But I'm Biden my time
'Cuz thats the kind of guy I'm
While other folks grow dizzy
I'll keep busy Biden my time
Next year, next year
Somethin's bound to happen
This year, this year
I'll just keep on nappin'
I'm Biden my time
That's the kind of guy I'm
There's no regretin' when I'm settin' Biden my time
Biding my time
Thats the kind of guy I'm
While other folks grow dizzy i keep busy
Biden, Biden my time
Next year, next year
Somethin's bound to happen
This year, this year
I'll just keep on nappin'
I'm Biden my time
That's the kind of guy I'm
There's no regretin' when I'm settin' Biden
Biden my time

Bidens a piece of garbage. Richard Nixon was president when he was first elected senator. I think Ryan was 2 or 3 years old. The contrast between the young, bright champion of new ideas and the old DC centric political hack will be striking. Smirk all you want Joe, you're going home.

Old Joe was chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee when Clarence Thomas came up for nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. Old Joe, working backstage with dead ted kennedy, fashioned that second unwarranted round of hearings against thomas, with those bogus witnesses, including anita hill and others.

I owuld hope historians would judge old joe properly, but they probably will not.

The insufferable Joe Biden deserves to be laid even lower than Romney laid Mr. Potato Head. In reference to the disgraceful treatment of Clarence Thomas:

FTA: "Biden finished the notorious "high-tech lynching" of Thomas with the same no-hard-feelings smile. Call it the Biden Treatment."

Vice President Cheney, after being insulted by the appalling (and grinning) Sen. Patrick Leahy, responded by telling him, in effect, to go perforn a physically impossible act upon himself. Ryan can't say that to Biden, but he can hurt the lame brained former Delaware senator just as badly by exposing his, er, shortcomings. Of those there are enough for a year of solid recounting, let alone a mere ninety minutes. Biden ought to be gutted like an Alaskan pollock.

Biden is a plagiarist and a liar who used the deaths of his wife and child for political gain. He should have been sued for that "drank his lunch" comment about the guy his wife pulled out in front of. There was only evidence that his wife ran a stop sign and the poor guy, who was traumatized until his dying day, did not have time to stop his large truck from hitting Biden's wife.

Biden is proof that getting older just means he has been stupid longer than most other people.

This isn't a confirmation hearing and Ryan is armed and fully capable of shooting back. As I recall, Obama assigned Biden to make sure the Stimulus funds were well spent. They soon discovered that the zip codes were fiction as were the jobs created measurement. Biden has also been the author of international strategies like dividing Iraq into nations by ethnic group. Didn't he also dream up the bright idea of negotiating with the Taliban in Afghanistan?

AUSTIN — A Texas judge was expected to seat a grand jury Monday in an investigation into whether Gov. Rick Perry abused his power by vetoing funding for public corruption prosecutors last year. Special State District Judge Bert Richardson was to oversee the impaneling in Austin. The governor’s office didn’t return messages seeking comment, but The Austin-American Statesman and KVUE-TV reported that Perry took the unusual step of hiring a criminal defense attorney to represent him. The attorney, David Botsford, did not return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment. In June, the governor threatened to veto funding approved by the Texas Legislature

When I first started hearing people on the political left describe themselves with some frequency as progressive back in the 1990s, the term did not seem tethered to the epoch-defining, early-20th-century spasm of moral crusading and government centralization that helped give us everything from trust busting to Prohibition to the Federal Reserve. As articulated by champions like Ralph Nader and Molly Ivins, the progressive label was both a way to get out from under the generation-old baggage of liberal-a term Ronald Reagan and others had turned into an epithet-and to differentiate lefties from seemingly apologetic triangulators like Bill Clinton and

For political junkies desperate for clues to the hottest House, Senate and governors’ races around the country, April is the cruelest month. Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive

A Russian fighter jet made multiple, close-range passes near an American warship in the Black Sea for more than 90 minutes Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region, a U.S. military official said Monday. In the first public account of the incident, the official said the Russian Fencer flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, a Navy destroyer, at about 500 feet above sea level. Ship commanders considered the actions provocative and inconsistent with international agreements, prompting the ship to issue several radio queries and warnings. The fighter appeared to be unarmed and never was in danger of

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.
