Alex, as a Detroit Lion, you were a worthy opponent (coming from a Packer fan). As an actor in one of my favorite movies (Blazing Saddles), you provided plenty of laughs - especially when you slugged that poor horse.

RIP Mongo & prayers for your family.

I did read the story about how Karras and his wife were part of the lawsuit against the NFL for injuries sustained during Karras' football career.

Getting your bell rung during a football hit must be the worst-kept secret besides cigarettes causing cancer. Grown men tackling one another for years will obviously result in some head injuries. People want the glory and big paychecks, but then later claim to have been deceived by the NFL about the dangers. Come on!

I think he was a great guy and will be missed. It is just the mention of the lawsuit that cheapened the whole article. Most jobs have hazards that are well-known. You take risks and weigh the cost-benefit analyses of your choices.

Agree with #11 and #19

Loved Karras - especially in Blazing Saddles and Victor/Victoria! Sweet guy, cute love story with his wife. He'll be missed.

BUT...really? These football players didn't know they were entering a dangerous business? Everyone has known for many, many years that getting a concussion was dangerous and that multiple concussions were more than dangerous.

The only way to make football "safe" is to make it flag football. Who's going to watch that? The price of fame and fortune my friends - pick a lane.

The Lough Erne Declaration - signed by the UK, US, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Japan and Russia - vows to ´fight the scourge of tax evasion´ by ensuring automatic exchange of tax information and changing the rules to stop multinational companies shifting profits across borders to avoid paying their fair share.

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution.
