The vice presidential debate gives Paul Ryan a unique opportunity to explain Mitt Romney’s economic programs and ideas in front of a massive national audience. We will see Paul Ryan at his best. And that is very, very good. He is not just a vice presidential candidate. He is the author and intellectual founder of the modern Republican agenda. There can be no more profound and articulate a spokesman to defend and elaborate the Romney agenda to America. It is rare that the ideological and substantive creator of a public policy agenda gets to weigh in during a national public debate.
Comments: Morris goes on to dismiss Plugs Biden as a party hack called upon to defend an agenda he did not design.
I watched part of the Palin-Biden debate from 2008, and I thought Sarah mopped the floor with old joe. But most of the media said Old Joe won. So no matter what happens this goaround, I expect most of the media to say Old Joe won again.
FTA:"Beyond the challenges he has in public speaking, Joe Biden is not in Paul Ryan’s league when it comes to understanding issues and grasping the problems America faces." Calling Biden a mental midget is an insult to midgets. Ryan will wipe the floor with him and not break a sweat, they should have sent plugs to the Nickelodeon gig where he would be on a level playground.
This is precisely the moment why so many of us wanted Ryan on the ticket. To explain and defend the fiscal plan of the GOP. I want him to take it to Joe, whoop on him upside the head. No playing it safe, don't let up, run these clowns out of town.
One of the few missed opportunities in the Romney/0 debate was when 0 bashed Paul Ryan’s budget plan (for lacking “details”). It was a big fat slowball for Romney to smash, but he passed on it. Ryan needs to point out that his budget plan has passed the House more than once with bi-partisan support, only to be kicked under a chair in the Democrat Senate. 0-bama’s budget proposals were so abhorrent that not a single member of either party was willing to vote in favor. There is nothing wrong with pointing out this absurdity - loudly.
While I think Ryan will do well against Biden we must caution ourselves and not get to confident and end-up having a debate performance like Obama had last week which is what the MSM is looking for to boost O back up. We are, after all, dealing with the dirtiest people(dem's & MSM) on earth lol
My observation : the RvO debate gave the LSM a huge cause to suck in the breath and hold ‘til blue in utter astonishment that they could no longer prop up the empty chair. The evaluations on the day after were practically bland in disillusionment and confusion while pundits struggled with the words they needed to “explain” the disaster everyone who saw it already knew about. Finally, on the second day, the dam burst as the conservative commentators gushed with excitement and the liberals began exclaiming, “Please, Ø, say it ain’t so!”
The R v B debate will be a closely watched event as the liberals come into it with baited breath, knowing their boy Joe is so prone to breaking a verbal bone at the most inopportune moment(s). Ryan is a word master, a debating champion with a mind like a steel trap and a memory that can challenge a whole herd of elephants. He is also outlandishly clever and courageous, with a borderline mean streak in him. Biden, on the other hand, is a real hip shooter and not known for mental discipline. Biden is also capable of young boyish impishness in debates, a trait that leads him often down blind paths of logic and point making. He is also prone to ramble, quite easily losing himself in his own mental wanderings. The one thought that many liberals and Ø supporters have is hope that Joe can somehow come up with a strong surprise “Gotcha” moment that will quash all that Ryan might assemble against him. That is highly unlikely when you consider all the powers Ryan will bring to the podium, and the lit fused potential disasters Biden will bring. Biden’s best strategy would be to simply call in sick at the last minute before air time.
My prediction is that after the shellacking Obama took last week Biden will come out aggressive, arrogant and obnoxious. And being the mental midget that he is, he will fill the airwaves with idiocy like you have never seen before. Ryan may not get a word in edgewise - but he may not need to. Stand up Chuck!
Martha Raddatz has been in bed (as Biden would say..."literally") with NPR, The Washington Post, and the FCC (only counting current and ex husbands there...I suspect she's got a few more notches on the gunstock).
So with her at the helm aware of the dire situation in Camp Obama, I predict she will overreach to put a muzzle on Ryan. It'll look petty, unprofessional, and pre-determined.
A group of state insurance commissioners emerged from a meeting with President Obama and other federal officials on Wednesday saying that state regulators would continue to decide on their own whether to go along with his recent proposal to let consumers keep older insurance plans for an extra year, even if the plans did not comply with regulations under the new health care law. In a conference call with reporters and in a statement issued after the meeting, they said they told the president they would not reach any consensus on what states should do. They said they warned the
HOT SPRINGS, Va. – As police studied evidence into what led to the attack on state Sen. Creigh Deeds, a Virginia health official said his office opened an investigation into why the legislator´s son was reportedly released from emergency custody the day before he stabbed his father and killed himself. The son, Gus Deeds, was a talented musician known for his stories and his smarts and as someone who could carry on conversations on wide range of topics. But his mental health apparently came into question the day before the Tuesday´s attack at the family´s farm in western Virginia.
Barack Obama continued to lionize John F. Kennedy on Wednesday evening at a dinner where the President gave a speech introduced by JFK´s grandson. Jack Schlossberg, whose mother is Caroline Kennedy, introduced President Obama at the Smithsonian´s National Museum of American History where a dinner was held to honor recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, first minted by JFK. ´He reminded us that everyone has the capacity to explore, to imagine and to give back to our great nation no matter the path we choose,´ Mr Schlossberg said of his grandfather.(Snip)There has been increasing interest in Mr Shlossberg, who
With 78 days until the start of the Sochi Olympics, Lindsey Vonn´s next race is against the clock. After suffering a partial tear to the ACL in her surgically repaired right knee will she be healthy enough to compete in her fourth Olympics? The injury came during training on Tuesday, nine months after tearing the ACL and MCL in her right knee and fracturing her tibia in a brutal crash in Austria.(Snip)Of course, no one knows if Vonn can come back just yet, but if her own history is any guide, the best rehab is about five months off the
Sheriff´s deputies had been called to the home of Virginia state Sen. Creigh Deeds a day before the fight that left his son dead and the veteran politician with multiple stab wounds, investigators reported Wednesday. Deputies responded to a "nonemergency call for assistance" at Deeds´ home in Millboro, in the rural western part of the state, on Monday, Virginia State Police said. The deputies made no arrests, and no charges were filed, the agency said. A police source confirmed that Deeds´ son, Austin "Gus" Deeds, was taken to a local hospital under an emergency custody order for an evaluation by
LOS ANGELES -- Everyone knew Jonathan Martin as “Moose” at Harvard-Westlake, an elite prep school for the children of Los Angeles’ corporate and entertainment executives that is perched among the pines of Coldwater Canyon. Martin, a 6-foot-5 football star, reflexively bent over to hug classmates upon greeting them. When he wasn’t flattening opponents with pancake blocks, he played the viola, which looked like a toy in his large hands. “Jonathan was by far the biggest man on campus, but he was also a big puppy,” said Dave Levy, offensive coordinator for the football team. “Not a jokester, and a bar fight
Republicans are the only ones who can fix President Obama´s broken promise now. The problem is simply stated. Millions will be losing their individual insurance policies that they were promised they could keep. They will be expected to buy more expensive ObamaCare-approved policies than they want or need, and to do so from ObamaCare exchanges that aren´t working. Mr. Obama´s fix, which he proposed on Thursday and which was quickly debunked by the insurance industry and its state regulators, can´t work because Mr. Obama can´t let it work. He has to fight to preserve the central purpose of ObamaCare—to use the individual
Lindsey Vonn´s comeback attempt may be in jeopardy after she crashed in training at Copper Mountain, Colo., on Tuesday. The U.S. Ski Team confirmed that Vonn, who is trying to come back from major knee surgery, crashed Tuesday and is being evaluated. It is not clear whether she re-injured her right knee. She tore the ACL and MCL in that knee and fractured her tibia in a brutal crash on Feb. 5. "We have no reason to believe it´s anything significant right now," U.S. Ski Team spokesman Tom Kelly told the Associated Press.
Sen. Creigh Deeds, D-Bath, was stabbed multiple times early today at his Bath County home and his son, Gus, is dead from a gunshot wound, authorities said. Gus Deeds had been released Monday following a mental health evaluation performed under an emergency custody order.(Snip) A source told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the emergency custody order, or ECO, allowed Gus Deeds to be held as long as four hours to determine whether he should be held longer, up to 72 hours, under a temporary detention order. The son was evaluated Monday by the Rockbridge Area Community Services Board in Lexington. An emergency custody
With every passing day, ObamaCare´s flaws are being exposed in painful ways for the American people. What started as a broken website—and nonexistent Spanish one—is now snowballing into a full-scale disaster that makes it increasingly clear this law can´t be fixed. Under ObamaCare, people are being recklessly exposed to identity theft and fraud through the dysfunctional website and navigator network. Under ObamaCare, President Obama´s broken promise—that people could keep the health plans and doctors they were happy with—has made casualties of those plans and providers. Now people have to scramble to find new plans and doctors that often cost more than before.
Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds is in critical condition after he was reportedly stabbed by his son Austin (Gus) Deeds Tuesday morning at his home in Bath County. After attacking his father, the son, whose age is unknown, reportedly shot himself. He died from a gunshot wound, sources told WRC-TV. Law enforcement sources are investigating what led to the violence. Police were called to Deeds´ home at 7:25 a.m., according to the local news station. The director of national intelligence on Monday night released what appeared to be the original court document authorizing the National Security Agency to conduct sweeping collections of Americans’ communications records for counterterrorism purposes. The order, signed by the then-chief judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, was among nearly 1,000 pages of documents being released by James R. Clapper Jr. in response to lawsuits and a directive by President Obama. The documents also describe the NSA’s failure to abide by court-imposed rules to protect Americans’ privacy, and show that the agency was more interested in collecting cell site location data than
President Barack Obama told the Wall Street CEO Council Tuesday that his administration has "reined in spending" and "cut our deficits by more than half." "After years of trillion-dollar deficits we reined in spending, wound down two wars and began to change a tax code that I believe was too skewed towards the wealthiest among us at the expense of the middle class," said Obama. "And since I took office, we have now cut our deficits by more than half. Add it all and businesses like yours have created 7.8 million new jobs over the past 44 months, we´ve gone farther
´´Knockout´´ attacks have been reported in several states around the country and now investigators believe three people have been attacked in our area. Police in Lower Merion are investigating two attacks in the area, and Philadelphia detectives are investigating an attack in Northeast Philadelphia. It’s a violent crime that in other parts of the country has proven fatal. Videos from cities around the country show people being punched and beaten at random.
It´s no secret that Sarah Palin is mighty steamed at MSNBC and Martin Bashir over his despicable remarks about the abusive treatment he imagines for her. And now she´s doing something about it. The former Alaska governor and Fox News contributor was scheduled to sit down with Matt Lauer for a Christmas season interview. That´s now toast. Palin has now canceled Lauer´s scheduled trip to Wasilla, a source close to her tells me. It´s not because Palin is upset with Lauer or the "Today" show, but as a protest against NBC for not taking action against Bashir. In fact, Palin once sat
Negligence? Absolutely. Incompetence? The case can be made. But scandalous? To suggest that the White House has willfully engaged in the intentional misleading of the public and an outrageous dereliction of its responsibilities to enforce the laws passed by Congress has been a bridge too far. Until recently. New revelations are now forcing even the most reluctant of President Barack Obama’s critics to concede that the Affordable Care Act’s implementation has evolved into a scandal. “I was not informed directly that the website would not be working, as the way it was supposed to,” Obama told reporters on November 14.
MICHELLE OBAMA: I thought I wanted to be a pediatrician when I was really little and then I wasn´t that great at math and science so I switched to law because my mother told me that I like to argue a lot. But I realized in high school and in college that you don´t have to exactly know, you´re kind of always discovering yourself. So I studied law, I went to law to school, but was pretty clear I just wanted to be a good student. I wanted to know how to read and write and communicate, be able to
In an interview on BET last night with Bow Wow and Keshia Chante, First Lady Michelle Obama talked up her husband, President Barack Obama. "I always say my husband has got swag," said Mrs. Obama. "He’s got a little swag." The audience applauded. Mrs. Obama also said that the president of the United States "sings all the time." She continued, "Oh, yes, he’s in the bathroom all the time just singing." She also praised her husband. "[H]e has got a good voice." Here´s a transcript of that exchange:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid´s finger is hovering over the big red button that will launch the Democrats´ nuclear attack against the United States Senate. By which we mean that, having secured 51 votes, Reid reportedly plans to advance a change to the body´s voting rules that would facilitate the approval of presidential nominees. KABOOM. That rules change, the much-discussed "nuclear option," is not an insignificant move for Reid. It´s not as bad as what happened in, say, Hiroshima in 1945, but it upends a long-standing tradition in the chamber. The problem in the Democrats´ view, as we´ve noted before,
Well folks, it looks like Arizona Senator John McCain will "be one of these old guys that should’ve shoved off.” According to the Arizona Republic, McCain is set to attend a glitzy fundraising for his 2016 campaign in New York City. Sen. John McCain has scheduled a December fundraiser in New York City, the surest sign yet that the veteran Arizona Republican is serious about possibly pursuing a sixth term in 2016. According to a copy of the invitation obtained Tuesday by The Arizona Republic, McCain is asking supporters to join him 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at the midtown St. Regis Hotel
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama conceded that he will have to "remarket" and "rebrand" Obamacare as public confidence in him and the healthcare law he championed has plummeted. Speaking at the Wall Street Journal CEO Summit, Obama addressed the failures of the Obamacare rollout and said while he was confident that the healthcare model his administration built, which he claimed worked off of the "existing private insurance system," would succeed, the law would have to be rebranded. “We are going to have to obviously remarket and rebrand,” Obama said. “And that will be challenging in this political environment.” When he
President Barack Obama told a gathering of corporate executives Tuesday he´s confident that his model of health care will work in the end, but he said he´s going to have to "re-brand" it to sell it to a skeptical public. He didn´t use the word "Obamacare" once on Tuesday in talking about his health care law, but he mentioned the "Affordable Care Act" seven times. "So, look, I am confident that the model that we built, which works off of the existing private insurance system, is one that will succeed," Obama told the Wall Street Journal´s CEO Council Annual Meeting
The White House has admitted that it was wrong to promise that people would be able to their health care plans under Obamacare. "With respect to the pledge I made that if you like your plan you can keep it, I think -- you know, and I’ve said in interviews -- that there is no doubt that the way I put that forward unequivocally ended up not being accurate. It was not because of my intention not to deliver on that commitment and that promise. We put a grandfather clause into the law but it was insufficient," President Obama said
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says although some Democrats may be voting politically to distance themselves from Obamacare, they were still supporting the law and working in their districts to implement it. "This is history and the future and progress," she stated emphatically, "It stands right there as Social Security, Medicare, affordable health care, as a right, not a privilege for the few, but a right for the many." She was speaking Tuesday at an event sponsored by BuzzFeed. Pelosi acknowledged she was "really disappointed" that the technology behind the website failed, but said she was excited to see the program fully
