GOP Chairman: César Chávez Monument Designation an Election-Year Ploy

| The chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee accused President Obama of using a 1906 act of Congress as an election-year ploy in the establishment of the César E. Chávez National Monument. Obama traveled to Keene, Calif., today to deliver remarks on the property designated for the monument, Nuestra Señora Reina de la Paz (Our Lady Queen of Peace), or La Paz, southeast of Bakersfield.(Snip) “Additions to the National Park System should result from careful public review and a vote by Congress, not secret election-year deals cut behind closed doors at the White House,” said Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) today.

Comments: Hey, this little deal got him to three fundraisers in San Francisco totally on the taxpayer nickel. And a lot of pandering to the Hispanic vote. But do all Hispanics relate to Cesar Chavez?

Most of Chavez' minions were illegal alians, the chair mans favorite voters.

Chavez was very much anti-illegal-alien. He wanted the borders sealed against illegals.

Rep. Hastings is correct. It is probably an illegal act by the Mulatto Kid and should be rescinded by Congress.
Besides, how many Mexicans really care about Chavez at this point? He really wasn't much of a leader at the time, so why even set up a monument to him? It's just another election year power play by Obammie.

#2 is correct regarding Chavez. #1 is also correct. Like it or not, most of Chavez's farm workers were illegals.

Dear Rep. Hastings, You are correct, sir, but everything he does is an election-year ploy.

Dias Kadyrbayev was driving back to his apartment when he got a call from a college buddy. A clearly anxious Robel Phillipos told him authorities had released photos of the alleged Boston Marathon bombers — and one of them looked very familiar. When he got home, Kadrybayev turned on the television to see a shaggy-haired Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, his friend, classmate and, by then, one of the most wanted men in the world. That call set in motion a series of events that on Wednesday turned three college pals into key figures in one of the largest

As “The Few, The Proud,” the Marines deserve their reputation with the press as mostly quick to respond with facts to a query — be it on Iraq, Afghanistan, the V-22 Osprey or Hurricane Sandy assistance. But when it comes to singer Beyonce Knowles-Carter they seem to have a warm and fuzzy mother instinct to protect her — in this case with a heavy-handed use of the Freedom of Information Act’s privacy exemption — the so-called “(B)(6)” — this being the same Beyonce drawing headlines for bawdy bodysuits on tour. Two Kazakh men associated with the alleged Boston Marathon bombers went before a federal immigration judge this morning on allegations they violated their student visas. The men were detained for civil immigration violations after authorities questioned them about their possible connection to Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who allegedly detonated two bombs at the Boston Marathon last month, killing three people and injuring more than 200. The brothers also allegedly murdered MIT Police Officer Sean Collier.(Snip)On April 21, investigators found a “large pyrotechnic” in Tsarnaev’s dorm room.

In November 2012, the president won 70 percent of the Latino vote — despite a lousy economy that saw a 44 percent loss of wealth [pdf] among Latino households — by repeatedly showing his support for Latino groups and redistribution policies aimed at the immigrant Latino population.

With the cost of some lifesaving cancer drugs exceeding $100,000 a year, more than 100 influential cancer specialists from around the world have taken the unusual step of banding together in hopes of persuading some leading pharmaceutical companies to bring prices down. Prices for cancer drugs have been part of the debate over health care costs for several years — and recently led to a public protest from doctors at a major cancer center in New York. But the decision by so many specialists, from more than 15 countries on five continents, to join the effort is a

As a conservative, picking out things you don´t like about Barack Obama is kind of like pointing to the wettest part of the ocean. It also goes beyond politics. Not only is Barack Obama wrong politically, he´s not a good guy, "cool," or even moderately likable. To the contrary, he´s one of the nastiest, least admirable people in politics and he gets by based on a phony persona he created when he ran for President in 2008 -- along with the help of press corps liberals that work to protect him like

The King of Glib sure isn’t ready for the serious business of actually getting things done. President Obama shined at Saturday night’s press dinner in front of the gold curtain, floating on a sea of sequined gowns and penguin suits, tossing out witty and daring one-liners. But standing there at Tuesday’s press conference talking about terrorism, chemical weapons and all the problems of governing, Mr. Obama looked and sounded like a bad performance of a sad parody of former President George W. Bush that you might see on “Saturday Night Live.” “This stuff is hard,”

Of course, if the group of high-powered liberal billionaires and Democratic party fundraisers are successful in buying the Times, that’s just peachy with them. They are all totally oblivious to the riotous irony of opposing the purchase of a media outlet because they fear ideological contamination, while embracing a rival group’s effort to buy the paper who will ideologically contaminate the coverage anyway — except it happens to be an ideology with which they agree. That’s how to save “honest” news coverage in LA. HuffPo: As Tribune Co. emerges from a four-year bankruptcy, the predominantly Democratic

It is a shopworn technique of hard-line conservatives to declare themselves men and women of principle in contrast to those other Republicans — the ones, you know, who pass legislation and try to represent their constituents. It is both self-serving (presuming principles are of no matter to opponents) and lazy in that it is always easy to say no, ridicule compromise and remain pristine rather than trying to improve legislation or introduce an alternative. I’m sorry to say Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is too often falling into the reflexive habit of voting no

Last week I wrote specifically about the pitiful coverage of the Boston marathon terror attacks and the continual denial by the mainstream media of possible Islamic involvement. In a perverse way this dereliction of journalistic duty while reprehensible is understandable because the press lapdogs of this administration do not want to admit that Obama´s PC national security policies involving Muslims might have contributed to the Boston attack. We know the media is spineless. However its neglect to report on the Gosnell abortion trial shows that they have lost any moral compass they ever had just to cover up Obama's strong support of the abortion industry.

A series of official White House photographs brought together by Vanity Fair show the ´lean-back´ nature of Barack Obama´s presidency. The pictures reveal that Mr Obama often exhibits relaxed body language in stressful situations, with legs crossed and a knee raised. Most noticeable of all, the president often has his feet up on his desk. But this is not just any desk - the Resolute desk was given to President Rutherford B. Hayes by Queen Victoria in 1880. (Snip) Yet whether they are debating tragic events or vital economic policy, the president is often more reclined than those around him.
