Our Whirlpool front loader smells moldy and musty on occasion. We solve the problem by running a high temperature whites load with chlorine bleach. Problem solved. Leaving the door ajar after each load also helps the problem.
Our courts cannot protect us from stupidity and incompetence. Today's liberals hate "better living through chemistry" even though all their lifesaving drugs are made possible through chemistry. Common sense and a basic understanding of how to problem solve has been lost on a generation that expects the government to make their lives perfect.

I wonder if this has something to do with environmentalists attacks on phosphates in soaps? The bottom line is, it's harder to get laundry clean than it used to be. After months of trying different soaps and settings, I finally found a solution that works for me. I add a half cup of white vinegar to each load. Sometimes I run an empty load with more white vinegar in it to clean out the machine. Problem solved.

Two posters, each suggesting a simple solution to this problem. So why is it necessary to launch a class action suit against the washer manufacturers. The answer is simple: GREEDY LAWYER. Their ridiculous lawsuits are one cause of our country's financial problems. Where are the government reformers with the courage and determination to tackle tackle tort reform?

Front load washers for 12 years here. Dry out the rubber seal for the door after the day's use and leave the door open. No problems here. Neighbor with same washer refuses to dry out the rubber seal - musty smell.
It is noted in the instructions for the washer to do this.

#1 and #5's solution works for me as well. It is not something that requires a lawyer to handle.
Now the dryer's controls going haywire in high humidity is annoying, but if I switch it to timed dry it seems to be ok. The manufacturer refuses to admit there is a problem.

We had the musty odor problem once. We started washing our white towels in the hottest water with chlorine bleach every week, and never had the problem again. We leave the door ajar when the washer is not in use. These washers are gentle on fabrics, and use far less water than the top loaders.

The courts need to do a smack down of these attorneys. Ordering the attorneys who try to pull off these ridiculous law suits to pay the manufacturers legal costs would help solve this problem.

FTA: The two named plaintiffs did not maintain their machines as specified and continued using them even after the suit was initiated.
If the judge were worth his salt, that sentence would be cited when the suit is tossed with prejudice, and a severe verbal reprimand to the attorneys who brought this flawed case before the court.
Tort reform??their law license should be in question.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell´s campaign has contacted the FBI after a recording of a private strategy meeting was published Tuesday in a liberal publication, claiming the campaign was the victim of "Watergate-style tactics" to bug the office. Several snippets of the audio from the February strategy sessions were published Tuesday by Mother Jones magazine, along with a lengthy article. The recording, obtained from an unnamed source, included McConnell aides discussing ways to politically damage actress Ashley Judd, who at the time was talked about as a possible McConnell challenger.
