Poll: Voters believe Obama wants
tax hikes to increase spending,
not cut deficit

Washington Examiner, by Joel Gehrke

Original Article

Posted By:afortiori, 10/8/2012 12:30:00 PM

President Obama claims that tax increases will help close the deficit, but a majority of Americans believe he intends to use the money for increased spending, according to a new survey. “You can’t reduce the deficit unless you take a balanced approach that says, ‘We’ve gotta make government leaner and more efficient,’” Obama told CBS last month. “But we’ve also got to ask people – like me or Gov. Romney, who have done better than anybody else over the course of the last decade, and whose taxes are just about lower than they’ve been in the last 50 years

Obama's plan is to raise taxes and increase "investment" in government employment. Seems no one is getting fooled by what that really means. Romney should drive this home in the next debate by pointing out that "investment" means spending more money we don't have.

True. Leftists have no intention of cutting government spending. They want a bigger, broader, deeper, more expensive government at every level. Obama and people like him apparently sincerely believe that putting people on the government payroll is the same as job creation. It certainly looks that way to those granted a government sinecure.

But Obama et al. have another reason for their relentless push to raise taxes, particularly on "the wealthy." It is their idea of social and economic justice. They want to redistribute the wealth. Obama would be for raising taxes even if the government did not need the money. It is a matter of principle for him and people like him. They itch to rob the rich so that they can give to the poor. The irony is that though they sometimes succeed in robbing the rich, giving the loot to the poor is largely beyond their skills. Most of it is wasted or flushed down the Federal drain. A substantial part of it is transferred back to "the rich" via cronies and backroom deals.

Well, they are mistaken. Obama does not wan to increase taxes in order to increase spending. He thinks that he can increase spending just by borrowing more money (or just plain printing it). He wants to increase taxes in order to make it harder for people to become one of the elites and to make it easier to take money from those wealthy persons who are not politically favored.

"Obama has convinced a majority (58 percent) of Democrats, though, that he will use taxes to lower the deficit."

58% of Dems believe what they want to believe when the evidence to the contrary is printed in black and white. It is scary that Obama can hold sway over so many people.

All serious economists agree. The "weapon of choice" (tax) for a second obama administration will be VAT tax, lower the boom on the middle class.

Anybody who is lucid knows that tax increases on rich will not bring in much in new revenues. The demagoguery is useful only softening up the unsuspecting voters, useful idiots and such.

Obama doesn't need tax dollars to increase spending -- he'll just increase the deficit which is good for his scheme anyway.

To Obama, taxation is a form of get-even-ism. Its a form of punishment for the rich (ie white, judeao/christian) people.

Not only is it a way to get even for past sins, its also a way to take power away from individuals. Money is power, and Obama wants all of it.

The voters hit the nail right on the head. Obama is all about spending the taxpayer's money, by essentially taking the money away from the people who worked to earn it, and giving it to people who do not work.

During his first term Obama refused to work with the Republicans and has always demanded that the Republicans abandon their political principles and simply go along with Obama to get along. The result has essentially been gridlock. If Obama is re-elected, obviously he will double down with his demands, and we will see the same result, four more years of gridlock.

Can we, before our L-Tryptophan coma commences, vow to abandon all attempts to festoon Obamacare with ridiculous historical metaphors? The damn law is big, with a regulatory heft now in excess of 20,000 pages. But even this governmental behemoth groans under the weight of metaphorical ornaments both daft and dull. Obamacare is not Katrina, not in fact or political impact. Obamacare is not Iraq, not in its human or material cost or in the reckless misuse of a commander in chief´s most sacred obligations of truth, judgment, and management. In trying to assess the the killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman, two seemingly conflicted truths emerge for me. The first is that based on the case presented by the state, and based on Florida law, George Zimmerman should not have been convicted of second degree murder or manslaughter. The second is that the killing of Trayvon Martin is a profound injustice. In examining the first conclusion, I think it´s important to take a very hard look at the qualifications allowed for aggressors by Florida´s self-defense statute: Use of force by aggressor.

Sometimes when you’re writing part of a column you keep getting close to the meaning of what you want to say but you don’t quite get there, the full formulation of the idea eludes you. Then two days later, relaxing in conversation with friends, the thought comes to you whole, and you think: That’s what I meant to say. That’s what I was trying to get. This week I had one of those moments.

Where Obama Went Wrong
In The Gun Control Fight
BuzzFeed, by Evan McMorris-Santoro & Ruby Cramer    Original Article

In one of the toughest defeats of President Obama´s political career, the Senate this week sank a piece of gun control legislation that the White House had been laboring over for months. As the post-mortems of the loss begin, some have questioned if gun control got bogged down with the president´s ongoing struggle to effectively operate the levers of power in Washington. Culprits for the bill´s demise are plenty — from gutless Senate moderates, to inflexible pro-gun conservatives, to a brazen gun lobby that waged an aggressive, and sometimes misleading, campaign to defeat the legislation.

Toomey is being labeled a Judas in conservative circles for backing what is being described incorrectly as a gun control bill. It is not.

Five centuries before Christ, Sun Tzu wrote “The Art of War,” which teaches enduring principles of combat: Position troops so the enemy must face the sun. If an enemy leaves a door open, rush through. If outnumbered, retreat. The book by the ancient Chinese general and military strategist is well-known among those in the military and in the business world. Its underlying theme was the axiom, “All warfare is based on deception.” It is through this lens that Americans and others must view the situation with young North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

President Obama has built a reputation for going around the traditional White House press corps in favor of so-called soft media, taking his message to “The View”, ESPN and friendly local radio, among other general-entertainment outlets. Who can forget these hard-hitting questions Obama was asked by a New Mexico radio station last August: “What’s your favorite song to work out to?” “If you had a superpower, what would it be?” But senior Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer scoffed at the suggestion that the White House is deliberately avoiding tough questions.

During the Great Depression, some 1.3 million Americans—epitomized by the Joad family in John Steinbeck´s "The Grapes of Wrath"—flocked to California from the heartland. To keep out the so-called Okies, the state enacted a law barring indigent migrants (the law was later declared unconstitutional). Los Angeles even set up a border patrol on the city limits. Soon the state may need to build a fence to keep latter-day Joads from leaving. Over the past two decades, a net 3.4 million people have moved out of California for other states.
