Other Peoples' Money is one of Obama's drugs of choice.

Obama's plan is to raise taxes and increase "investment" in government employment. Seems no one is getting fooled by what that really means. Romney should drive this home in the next debate by pointing out that "investment" means spending more money we don't have.

Obama said it himself! He wants to redistribute wealth, not cut deficits or pay debts.

True. Leftists have no intention of cutting government spending. They want a bigger, broader, deeper, more expensive government at every level. Obama and people like him apparently sincerely believe that putting people on the government payroll is the same as job creation. It certainly looks that way to those granted a government sinecure.

But Obama et al. have another reason for their relentless push to raise taxes, particularly on "the wealthy." It is their idea of social and economic justice. They want to redistribute the wealth. Obama would be for raising taxes even if the government did not need the money. It is a matter of principle for him and people like him. They itch to rob the rich so that they can give to the poor. The irony is that though they sometimes succeed in robbing the rich, giving the loot to the poor is largely beyond their skills. Most of it is wasted or flushed down the Federal drain. A substantial part of it is transferred back to "the rich" via cronies and backroom deals.

Well, they are mistaken. Obama does not wan to increase taxes in order to increase spending. He thinks that he can increase spending just by borrowing more money (or just plain printing it). He wants to increase taxes in order to make it harder for people to become one of the elites and to make it easier to take money from those wealthy persons who are not politically favored.

Gotta get money from somewhere to pay for all those Obamaphones.

"Obama has convinced a majority (58 percent) of Democrats, though, that he will use taxes to lower the deficit."

58% of Dems believe what they want to believe when the evidence to the contrary is printed in black and white. It is scary that Obama can hold sway over so many people.

That is all he's done so far. Why would anyone expect anything else?

The HOUSE will remain in Republican hands. This means gridlock. Gridlock is much better than what went on in Obama's first two years.

All serious economists agree. The "weapon of choice" (tax) for a second obama administration will be VAT tax, lower the boom on the middle class.

Anybody who is lucid knows that tax increases on rich will not bring in much in new revenues. The demagoguery is useful only softening up the unsuspecting voters, useful idiots and such.

Obama doesn't need tax dollars to increase spending -- he'll just increase the deficit which is good for his scheme anyway.

To Obama, taxation is a form of get-even-ism. Its a form of punishment for the rich (ie white, judeao/christian) people.

Not only is it a way to get even for past sins, its also a way to take power away from individuals. Money is power, and Obama wants all of it.

The voters hit the nail right on the head. Obama is all about spending the taxpayer's money, by essentially taking the money away from the people who worked to earn it, and giving it to people who do not work.

During his first term Obama refused to work with the Republicans and has always demanded that the Republicans abandon their political principles and simply go along with Obama to get along. The result has essentially been gridlock. If Obama is re-elected, obviously he will double down with his demands, and we will see the same result, four more years of gridlock.

That is the standard Democratic approach: raise more money so that you can spend more.
