Poll finds Romney with 40-point lead

Mitt Romney has a 40-point lead over President Obama among active and reserve service members, according to a new poll from the Military Times. The survey found Romney with a wide 66-26 lead that is similar to the advantage enjoyed by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) over Obama in the 2008 race. For military voters, the economy was by far the most important issue, with 41 percent of respondents saying it was most important issue for them in the 2012 race. National security came in at just 16 percent. The Military Times poll surveyed 3,100 active duty,

That's why the troops must NOT be allowed to vote. There are sod many reasons why the ballots just cannot be distributed on time!

Agree with #1. Meaningless if the votes are not counted.

This problem arises every four years. Why can't the republicans in congress make it a major issue and get it corrected?

This is why Obama and the Democrats are trying very hard to block their votes. And it looks like NoBama is succeding on this too.

You are so right #9. My son was just deployed to Afghanistan and knows he won't be able to get his absentee ballot sent to him, filled out and returned in time. Such a shame - the command is so wanting to vote the CIC out! Special Forces under Obama has become a joke - petty politics, political correctness and poor funding. No wonder they are leaving in droves - much like military pilots did under Clinton.

#8 that was an unacceptable slur on our troops. Service in the armed forces is not about color, it is about duty, honor and country. I served this country for 21 years in the U.S. Navy and was raised less than a mile from Ft. Jackson located in Columbia, SC and have a brother who served for 24 years in the U.S. Air Foce and a father who served as a highly decorated U.S. Marine in WWII and Korea.

I believe I am a qualified observer of all races who serve and have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and to disparage Blacks, as you have is beyond forgiveness. It is obvious to me you have no idea of reality. Shame on you.

There should be a public outcry to have Military Airlift Command flights specifically set up from every overseas area to get the ballots home and then delivered to the appropriate states and districts before election day.

Let anyone who opposes the idea identify himself, his party, and his reason.

AUSTIN — The chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality raised the idea Monday that the explosion at a fertilizer plant that devastated the tiny town of West may have stemmed from a rail car reportedly loaded with ammonium nitrate. "I would submit to you that the ammonia tank that´s been a lot of people´s focus was likely not what we saw exploding there," TCEQ Chairman Bryan Shaw said at a forum sponsored by the Texas Tribune. “You know, I actually believe my own bull.” That’s what President Obama once told a reporter. If the man ever uttered a statement that spoke more to his approach to politics, I haven’t heard it. Whether it stems from a grandiose overconfidence in his own powers of persuasion, the lessons he took from his years as a community organizer or his own messianic conviction that he is on the right side of everything, including history itself, the president has operated under the theory that he can move the American people to his causes. He can’t. He just can’t.

The immigration proposal pending in Congress would transform the nation’s political landscape for a generation or more — pumping as many as 11 million new Hispanic voters into the electorate a decade from now in ways that, if current trends hold, would produce an electoral bonanza for Democrats and cripple Republican prospects in many states they now win easily. Beneath the philosophical debates about amnesty and border security, there are brass-tacks partisan calculations driving the thinking of lawmakers in both parties over comprehensive immigration reform, which in its current form offers a pathway to citizenship

One of those reasons is that that this instinct is regularly indulged by people who consider themselves academicians. What is at its core a reactionary and undiscerning philosophy of drawing conclusions about terroristic violence based on the racial makeup of the accused (often before the perpetrators are even identified) is made more galling because it is regularly couched in the guise of intellectualism. In Obama´s Audacity of Hope, he stated, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in any ugly direction." THE graying man flashing fury in the Rose Garden on behalf of the Newtown families, the grieving man wiping away tears after speaking at the Boston memorial service, is not the same man who glided into office four years ago. In debate classes or law school, it is often referred to as the ‘arguing against the non-existing opponent’ tactic. The way it works is you imply your opponent is making an outlandish, unsavory claim (though he isn’t), hoping others will run with it or, at worst, that your opponent won’t sufficiently correct it and the claim sticks. To illustrate, imagine Sally is arguing in favor of marijuana’s legalization against Tom. In the middle of the debate, Tom suddenly shrieks: “Well, Sally, you can talk about legalizing marijuana all you want but I just don’t believe

President Obama´s sequester scare strategy has been a political flop, but his government keeps trying. The latest gambit is to force airline flight delays until enough travellers stuck on tarmacs browbeat enough Republicans to raise taxes again. This week the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) began furloughing each of its air-traffic controllers for one day out of every 10 to achieve roughly $600 million in savings this fiscal year. The White House dubiously claims that the furloughs are required by the sequester spending cuts enacted in 2011.

Lots of “tough questions” are being asked about why the FBI--having interviewed the older Boston bomber, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, in 2011--failed to continue to keep tabs on him. But that is the wrong question to be asking. The much more pressing question is: why the FBI didn’t nab the bombers on Monday night? After all, they hadn’t skipped town, and one of them--Tamerlan--was sitting "on file" as someone whom the Russian government said they suspected was an Islamist terrorist. A man they repeatedly interviewed just two years ago. Why did no one check those files, within minutes of the

Following the attack in Boston, some politicians, including Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Dan Coats (R-IN), advised slowing down immigration reform legislation in order to allow further debate and not make rushed decisions based on emotions. In an interview with Bloomberg’s Trish Regan, Sen.
