CNN media critic Howard Kurtz weighed in on the news that Ann Romney, wife of presidential candidate Mitt Romney, will co-host at least an hour of Good Morning America on ABC next week. Kurtz tore into ABC’s decision to give a co-hosting spot to either Ann Romney or first lady Michelle Obama while they are actively campaigning for their husbands. He said that this seat “should be reserved for journalists.” Kurtz is, however, fine with GMA offering the same co-hosting opportunity to entertainers like Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert or media mogul and

Comments:
I would imagine he wouldn't say the same thing if Mooch the Marxist was host. And Stephanopoulos, Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walters are journalists?? Since when was GMA considered a news show?? Puhleeze.

Huh? Kurtz did say the same thing about both Ann Romney and Michelle Obama, not only within the full article but in the first paragraph you posted.

He is just a partisan hack. GMA is NOT a news show and Oprah qnd Colbert are not journalists. I wonder if he would be okay with Rush or Mark Levin? I somehow doubt it. Why doesn't he just say that anyone who is Republican or conservative may not be on GMA. Might as well. Of course it is okay that Obama shows up on all the talk shows (both day and late night)and he would love it if Moochie the Wookie was hosting not only GMA but half the shows on TV. I sure hope they don't drop Ann.

There is no way Mrs. Romney can approach the public "face time" Mrs Obama gets. She would have to be on TV 24/7 for the next month to even be in the ball game. Mrs Obama is seen everywhere, because she is a media darling. They want the President re-elected and will do all in their power to make it happen. If Mrs O. was on the cover of Sports Illustrated I would not be surprised.

And I wholeheartedly agree with that assessment. It's only the rare occurrence of when a conservative gets good air time that we get journo outrage & they claim they don't want either party to be represented.

i.e. -- where was Howie when Oprah had Obama on her show but refused McCain?

Reports indicate Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was mirandized by Federal Judge Marianne Bowler against the wishes of investigators who wanted to continue questioning the suspect. As news has come out of Bowler´s actions on April 22, Republican lawmakers have pressed the DOJ to explain "why it didn´t make a stronger bid to resist the judge´s plans." These lawmakers include House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI), who said, "We have a longstanding tradition that the judiciary does not interfere with investigations. This sets a very dangerous precedent."

Although law enforcement was lauded for quickly identifying and neutralizing both suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing last weekend, the FBI has much explaining to do over why now-deceased Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the suspects, managed to slip through the FBI’s fingers after two warnings from Russian intelligence two years ago that Tsarnaev was tied to “radical Islam.” Of particular concern is that around the same time the FBI was informed about Tsarnaev, the Obama administration’s policies handling terrorism relating in any way to Islamic extremists changed. As the country awoke to the news of a massive manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombers in the early morning hours of Friday, April 19, reporters began pressing sources at the FBI and the Justice Department for information on the two attackers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The response, at least to some reporters: We don’t know anything about them. That claim, like so many that followed, wouldn’t hold up. Just five days later it was clear that the U.S. government generally, and the FBI in particular, had known more than a little about Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

He said that establishing legal status for the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants is a “matter of civil and human rights.” “Creating a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million unauthorized immigrants in this country is essential,” Holder said to applause. “The way we treat our friends and neighbors who are undocumented by creating a mechanism for

Sen. John McCain on Friday pleaded with business leaders to rally behind the immigration reform bill that he negotiated as part of the Senate’s Gang of Eight. Speaking at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce´s immigration reform summit, McCain (R-Ariz.) said the bill needs the full-throated support of industry to make it to President Obama’s desk. “We need your help. We need you to inform the people you represent. We need their active support, not just passive,” McCain said. “We need all of you, we need all of the people you represent to be actively engaged in the community.”

The Boston Globe published a harrowing interview with the man whose vehicle the Tsarnaev brothers commandeered on the night they were trying to flee the police. It is the most extensive version of events yet of how the brothers forced their way into the Mercedes-Benz of the man, who The Globe’s reporter on the story, Eric Moskowitz, identifies as a 26-year old Chinese entrepreneur nicknamed Danny, and it provides a gripping narrative of the 90 minutes that he spent driving the brothers through neighborhoods just before the night ended in a shootout between the brothers and the police.

A bill that would end the Federal Aviation Administration’s furlough on air traffic controllers is now on its way to President Obama to sign. On Friday, the House passed the measure 361-41. On Thursday night, the Senate passed the legislation after most lawmakers had left the Capitol for a weeklong vacation. Earlier this week, lawmakers from both parties urged the Obama administration to postpone or cancel the furlough of air traffic controllers, with some accusing the FAA of playing politics as the cuts contributed to massive delays at airports across the country. The furloughs went into effect Sunday,

White House economist Alan Krueger hailed estimates for economic growth released Friday that showed the economy grew at a rate of 2.5 percent in the first quarter. "While there is more work to be done, this report, together with other economic indicators, provides further evidence that the economy is moving forward in the right direction," Krueger said in a statement. The advance estimate from the Bureau of Economic Analysis is good news, considering it follows the contraction reported by the Commerce Department in the previous quarter.

The unfailing reverence on the American right for Ronald Reagan is understandable. He was the only exemplar of modern conservatism to win the White House, and unlike liberal icons such as Roosevelt or Johnson or Obama, he presided over an economic boom and became beloved by voters not normally drawn to his party. No wonder that Reagan, long before his death in 2004, attained mythical status in the conservative movement and the Republican Party. But that myth has become a burden for the modern GOP. It has bound Reagan’s followers on the right to policies and positions that were

Michelle Obama did not walk the E!-streamed red carpet before tonight´s White House Correspondents´ Dinner — she was already at home, of course — so our first glimpse of her black Monique Lhuillier gown came later, once dinner started. And damn does she look good. This is a sexier look on her than usual, with a sheer lace panel over her decolletage and a molded bustier-style top. Unlike you, federal government officials are immune from charges of fraud. The executive branch, vested with all of the government’s prosecutorial authority and discretion, is not going to investigate its own operatives for carrying out its own mendacious policies. That is the story of last week’s Boston Marathon bombing and the frantic efforts of the bombers, the brothers Tsarnaev, to evade capture, shoot it out with police (two of whom they killed), and — we’re now told — detonate more bombs in Times Square. In another conversation, the mother of now-dead bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was recorded talking to someone in southern Russia who is under FBI investigation in an unrelated case, officials said. The conversations are significant because, had they been revealed earlier, they might have been enough evidence for the FBI to initiate a more thorough investigation of the Tsarnaev family. When it did, they felt double-crossed, apparently because they thought Republicans owed it to them to fold like a cheap suit, as usual. When the Republicans figured out that sticking with the sequester was a pretty good outcome–it represented a modest, but real, restraint on federal spending, which is what Republicans always say they want–the Democrats went to Plan B.
