| President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama finally celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Saturday - a romantic night on the town that came three days late after being pre-empted by a high-stakes presidential debate. The first couple marked the occasion with a dinner for two at the Bourbon Steak restaurant in the Four Seasons hotel in Washington's upscale Georgetown section. A month before Election Day, Obama took a rare day off from the campaign trail after a hectic schedule of rallies in the wake of Wednesday's

I don't begrudge them a night out together to celebrate their anniversary. In fact, that's so important I think we as a country need to make sure they have lots of evenings together starting next year. They've suffered enough./s

Yup, twenty years since they solemnly stood together with Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Barry's spiritual leader and mentor before that day, and for many years after that day. ... Many years after that day, that is, until he threw Wright under the bus and feigned even recognizing Wright's poisonous rhetoric. Yea, right, Barry. LOL.
It went unnoticed by all, that how appropriate, his Denver debate debacle was 20 years to the day since he stood with Wright there. Aligned with despicable Wright then and in Denver exposed as an empty chair.

Maybe all those discussions between Rubio and Schumer are paying off after all: SCHUMER: Our insurance department is in power to protect families. We’re going to watch them like a hawk to make sure they do that. And if they don’t, those rates could go through the roof. REPORTER: Is it because of Obamacare? Sen. Ted Cruz’s address at the annual South Carolina Republican Party dinner Friday helped feed growing speculation the freshman Texas senator sparked this week that he’s eyeing a run for the White House in 2016 — and raised yet another round of questions about his eligibility so serve in the Oval Office. Mr. Cruz was born in Canada to an American-born mother and Cuban-born father, and was a citizen from birth — but that Canadian factor puts him in the company of other past candidates who have had their eligibility questioned because of the Constitution’s requirement

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, held a conference call today on the immigration bill proposed by the "Gang of 8" and said it will bring 30 million immigrants to the United States over the course of 10 years and would devastate the American workforce. An immigration analyst on the call added that the U.S. will need "The greatest jobs bonanza in American history" to accommodate new job seekers. "We are looking at a plan that will admit or provide legal status to 30 million immigrants in the next 10 years.

CHRIS JANSING, MSNBC: What do we know about how health care is effecting hiring decisions, Jared? JARED BERNSTEIN: Well, what he was saying, really, is not showing up, in terms of evidence in the data. Now, it is true that down the road, there will be incentives in the health care law where some firms may decide they´d rather create part time jobs instead of full time jobs -- we´ll have to see. But by the way, just in terms

In case there are still any suckers who think amnesty supporters will follow through on their promises to pursue enforcement once the illegal aliens are safely legalized, get a load of this: The president made clear that he expected the people in the room to support the Senate proposal even if they had doubts about some details, participants said. Once an overarching plan was locked in place by Congress, Obama told the group, the administration would be able to revisit some of their concerns and figure out ways to improve it.

The U.S. government does not know how many agencies and programs it is asking taxpayers to fund, The Daily Caller has learned. Even though the editors of Wikipedia have been able to assemble a list of federal agencies, no complete official government list of federal agencies and programs currently exists. The Government Performance and Results Modernization Act of 2010 (GPRAMA) — which became law on January 4, 2011 — established required quarterly performance assessments of government programs.

An analysis of future immigration flow released Friday by Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions shows that more than 32 million immigrants would receive legal status over the next decade and an additional 25 million would be granted non-immigrant work visas under the Gang of Eight’s immigration bill. On a conference call with reporters about the analysis Sessions explained that number of legal immigrants over the next decade “exceeds the population of California, our largest state, and will have a very significant impact on our economy and the American people.” According to the analysis presented by the senator,

President Obama vowed on Friday he will "continue to do everything in my power" to pass gun control legislation, saying that it´s "the right thing to do." Delivering a speech in Mexico City at the National Anthropology Museum, Obama said he swore an oath to uphold the Second Amendment, and "I always will.” But he said passing legislation to prevent criminals from obtaining guns will "save lives" in both the United States and Mexico. Last month, the Senate rejected a measure that would have expanded background checks for gun purchases. After the legislation was defeated,

There are a number of “shortcomings” in the Senate’s immigration reform bill that “need to be addressed,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Friday in an op-ed. Rubio said the bill, which he helped negotiate as a member of the Senate’s Gang of Eight, is a “solid starting point” but is in need of revisions to reflect the “constructive criticism” it has received since being unveiled to the public. "Since my colleagues and I introduced immigration legislation, intense public scrutiny has helped identify shortcomings and unintended consequences that need to be addressed," Rubio wrote in

Mexico has “the greatest of partners” in the United States, President Obama told a cheering crowd of Mexican students Friday morning. In a 25-minute speech peppered with Spanish phrases and jokes about daughter Malia´s progress in learning the language, the president told Mexicans their neighbor to the north is “rooting” for their success. “This is your moment,” Obama said. “As you dream for that future, always remember that you have the greatest of partners, the greatest of friends, the nation that is rooting for your success more than anybody else, you neighbor, the United States of America.”

MEXICO CITY — President Obama on Friday painted a sunny picture of a modern Mexico emerging from its past troubles, an attempt at rebranding that serves the political aims of both governments but clashes with the realities of a country beset by violence and poverty. On his second day of a swing through Latin America, Obama emphasized optimism about Mexico´s economic future and offered a broad endorsement of President Enrique Peña Nieto´s reform agenda. Speaking to a crowd largely made up of high school and college students, Obama pushed the next generation of Mexicans to continue to demand change.

Rep. The Catholic faith, which Ryan professes, teaches that such adoptions “are contrary to the divine plan” of God and Pope Francis has said that gay adoption is a form of discrimination against children. Next week, the Senate will begin making changes to and, hopefully, improve the immigration-reform legislation I introduced with several colleagues last month. This part of the process is a chance to fix America´s broken immigration system and end today´s de facto amnesty for those who live here illegally. It will also show that Washington can work when leaders listen to the American people and invoke their wisdom in debates and legislative work. In January, I outlined my principles for conservative immigration reform in these pages—principles that guided the drafting of this legislation.

Before Barack Obama was elected president, he won over many civil libertarians and Bush Administration critics by promising to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, arguing that it was wrong and unnecessary to indefinitely lock people in cages without charges, trial, or hope of release. The strong stance he took during the campaign has led many defenders of his White House to conclude that his failure to keep his promises on Gitmo isn´t actually his fault. They blame an intransigent Congress. It is, in fact, the case that Congressional Republicans and many Democrats
