Princeton Economist: Romney Tax Plan Mathematically Sound

| Bill Clinton, President Barack Obama, and liberal think tanks have claimed Mitt Romney's plan to cut tax rates across the board by 20 percent is bad arithmetic, but a Princeton economics professor, Harvey Rosen, examined Romney's proposals in a paper and concluded Romney's plan would work. The economy would have to grow by 3 percentage points more over the term of his plan than it would have without his plan. Liberals, who often do not understand how the economy works let alone how to expand the economic pie, failed to work in their assumptions that the purpose of Romney's

Well, here's why Bubba's and Obie's tax experts came up with such a negative evaluation of Romney's tax plan:
The Tax Policy Center, which is affiliated with the center-left Brookings Institution and Urban Institute, analyzed Romney's tax plan assuming there would be zero economic growth. The lead analyst in the Tax Policy Center's study was a former Obama administration official.
They had to.
Read what Rosen has to say in disagreement with the TPC.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up Obama's predicted GDP growth numbers. In June 2009 he was predicting 3.2% in 2010, 4% in 2011, and 4.6% in 2012. What is mind boggling is that had he decided to make the Bush rates permanent in 2009, he might have actually hit his targets. The uncertainty on tax rates has had a huge negative impact on the economy.

He was in a boatload of trouble, and that’s where cops found him. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was discovered in the bottom of a rare, 1980s pleasure boat in the backyard of a Watertown, Mass., home just after 6 p.m. by the shocked owner David Henneberry, his family told the Daily News. Henneberry, an avid boater who is a member of the Watertown Yacht Club, walked outside to have a cigarette just after Gov. Deval Patrick lifted the curfew on Boston residents at 6 p.m. Friday.

A Saudi family who “fled” their Sarasota area home weeks before 9/11 had “many connections” to “individuals associated with the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001,” according to newly released FBI records. One partially declassified document, marked “secret,” lists three of those individuals and ties them to the Venice, Fla., flight school where suicide hijackers Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi trained. Accomplice Ziad Jarrah took flying lessons at another school a block away. Atta and al-Shehhi were at the controls of the jetliners that slammed into the twin towers of New York’s World Trade Center, killing nearly 3,000 people.

New FBI records connecting Saudis who lived in Sarasota before 9/11 to “individuals associated with the terrorist attacks” has spurred a renewed push to find out whether the al Qaeda suicide hijackers who killed nearly 3,000 people had help. “One question that has gone unanswered through the investigation of 9/11 is, ‘Did the hijackers operate alone or did they have accomplices who facilitated their ability to act?’” said former Florida Sen. Bob Graham. “I think the information we have now makes a very strong case that they did.”

SENATORS say they fear the N.R.A. and the gun lobby. But I think that fear must be nothing compared to the fear the first graders in Sandy Hook Elementary School felt as their lives ended in a hail of bullets. The fear that those children who survived the massacre must feel every time they remember their teachers stacking them into closets and bathrooms, whispering that they loved them, so that love would be the last thing the students heard if the gunman found them.

When the mainstream media responded to the Tucson massacre of January 2011 by attempting to incite a moral panic over "incivility," probably the grossest contribution came from Newsweek´s Jonathan Alter, who, as we noted that Jan. 12, thought it appropriate to offer some career advice to the gravely wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords: Sad to say, if Giffords had died, she would have been mourned and soon the conversation would have moved on. But Giffords lives, thank God, which offers other possibilities.(Snip) she will prove a powerful referee of the boundaries of public discourse--more influential, perhaps, than the president himself.

On his site, Walid Shoebat has an interesting discussion about the role of Saudi clans in supporting terrorism.(Snip)After the bombings, a Saudi by the name of Abdul Rahman Ali Al-Harbi was hospitalized and became a ‘suspect’, then a ‘person of interest’. His apartment was searched by federal and local authorities. No confirmation has been given so far to his involvement.(Snip)Perhaps a quick look at the Arabic sources should raise the eyebrows of every American relative to the extent of the problem at hand. Many from Al-Harbi’s clan are steeped in terrorism and are members of Al-Qaeda.

CBS devoted the first 12 minutes of its broadcast from the Masters entirely to Woods, who was given a two-stroke penalty earlier in the day for a bad drop that led to his signing an incorrect scorecard after his second round. Yesterday, the most modest of gun control proposals died in the Senate. It would have expanded background checks to people purchasing weapons at gun shows and online sales, enjoyed 90 per cent support among the public and came on the back of the tragedy at Newtown. Yet, despite all that it had going for it, the Toomey-Manchin bill raised just 54 votes--six short of the number necessary for passage. “This is a pretty shameful day for Washington,” said Obama afterwards. It wasn’t exactly a red letter day for him, either. Why did the no-brainer bill fail? Four reasons:

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

While the media are bearing the brunt of public skepticism over the handling of the Boston bombing, the behavior of government is also eroding public trust. Yesterday´s promised but cancelled news briefing is just one symptom. Andrew McCarthy of PJM notes that "Misinformation rather than enlightenment has been the order of the day in the investigation of Monday´s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon," and that part of it is the natural outgrowth of the desire of investigators to keep the details of their investigations secret, so as not to alert suspects.

Mark Kelly, the astronaut husband of former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, on Thursday upbraided senators who voted against gun legislation by saying they voted “out of fear.” ”If that vote had been a secret ballot, I bet you it would have passed with 80 votes,” Kelly told reporters. He was referencing the compromise authored by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) to expand background checks for gun buyers. It failed to advance in the Senate, with a vote Wednesday afternoon of 54 to 46.
