Venezuela: Radical group

CARACAS - In past Venezuelan elections there have been rumors of violence, but they never amounted to much. This time around, with President Hugo Chávez forced to contemplate the possibility of handing over the country to opposition leader Henrique Capriles, some Venezuelan radical groups think that violence is a true possibility. Threatening graffiti messages have popped up on the streets of Caracas portraying slogans like, "Everything with Chávez, bullets without him," "It's not enough to vote, we have to fight" and "There's a candidate, there's a commander, there's a united people ready for combat." But this is not all.

Sounds like Chavez has been taking a leaf from Obama and his black panther thugs.

More Catholic than the Pope? Chavez himself says he will accept the election result.

Hugo is a lousy President, has no idea of how to run a nation, thinks socialism works, and plays to the crowd.

But he has not become a murderous tyrant determined to rule at any cost. Maybe his bouts with cancer have made him reflect about mortality.

I'm guessing he will lose, accept it, and these radicals will get nowhere.

Convenient for Chavez to stick around for a 'national emergency?' I still don't see this Marxist goon calmly strolling away from the trappings of power. Even in handcuffs he wouldn't be calm.

I'm betting Hugo got a phone call from the generals saying no, they are not going to risk international war crimes tribunals for all the bodies in the streets they leave just to keep someone in power who is going to die of cancer in six months anyway.

Violence: It has started. Chavista goons have shot into voter lines in Petare, the biggest slum in Caracas, which is ful of anti-chavista sentiment. They killed two more in another place called Tacarigua.

Univision, meanwhile, is reporting that American Airlines is betraying thousands of venezuelans over its airline seat issue, canceling flights at the last minute for prevent venezuelans from going home to caracas to vote. Sound like union thugs have been paid off to keep those planes grounded.

Only univision is reporting this, the msm is asleep again.

They were vicious when they realized I was not an Obama supporter.
Union thugs- not surprised they would be supporting Chavez by canceling flights to Venezuela.
They should all be fired and replaced with ex military returning home.

Socialism Comes With Shortages

Hemisphere: Venezuela´s price and currency controls have wrought what they always wreak: monster shortages. And it stinks, literally, with toilet paper, diapers, soap and deodorant joining drugs on the list. That shutoff from global standards is what prevents willing buyers from acquiring goods from abroad, the source of 80% of Venezuela´s consumer staples. No foreign currency, no purchases. Further down the line, price controls have driven more shortages as costs to produce in an economy with a 56% inflation rate have made it impossible to turn a profit.

The mother of a 3-year-old boy who was saved just as he tumbled out a third-story window in Burbank said she will "never be able to repay" the couple who cushioned his fall with a box spring mattress. Konrad Lightner and his wife, Jennifer, were carrying their box spring mattress out Sunday when they saw the toddler throw his leg over the window sill, his toys tossed to the ground below. "Once we saw that his leg was going over the window, Jenny called police," Konrad Lightner said in an interview with KTLA-TV. After the boy got out, he clung to a telephone wire outside the window, spurring a split-second decision by the

Geopolitics: So are Vladimir Putin´s actions in Ukraine just self-defense, as he claims, or a sign of a new sort of war with the West? Conclusions of a 19th century contemporary of Alexis de Tocqueville suggest the latter. Back in 1839, around the time political thinker de Tocqueville made his long visit to the U.S. and found an exceptional nation, writing about it in his classic "Democracy in America," another curious Frenchman, the Marquis de Custine, made a similar pilgrimage to Russia. Fully prepared to fall in love with autocratic czarism, de Custine was instead repelled by a harsh tyranny combined with

Staple shortages in Venezuela are exacerbating, as mirrored by restricted sales in many stores across the country. The supply of personal care products fails to meet demand. Only one or two brands of a single item can be found on shelves. Similarly, drugs stocks are running low. In a bid to meet demand, pharmacies have also been limiting the sale of certain drugs to only two items per person. Since April 2012, the Central Bank of Venezuela has been reporting shortage of personal care and home cleaning products, which sales are restricted as well. Shortage stems from the price regulations enforced for more than

Since street demonstrations began against President Nicolas Maduro´s socialist government in early February, Venezuelan officials have been accusing Washington of stirring the country´s worst political troubles in a decade. A startling rift appeared Tuesday on the Supreme Court as the three female Justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills. The Justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook.
