Joining Seth Meyers at the 'Weekend Update' anchor desk, the Sesame Street favorite declined to comment on the presidential hopeful's vow to cut federal funding for PBS. The opening skit about the debate was pretty good. Obama drifts off as Romney laid out his plans, and then took credit for killing Bin Laden.

Can their be any reason that Sesame Street cannot be self supporting? I can't imagine how many millions of dollars that is made from all the things that are sold under the banner of Sesame Street. I was told at one time that none of the profits went to supporting the program but I don't know if that is true or not.

Children's Television Workshop (Sesame Street) says they use the money raised to support programs for children-after school activities and such, as well as Sesame Street-like shows for other countries. They could be completely self-supporting in my opinion and still do their 'charities'. The only thing we watch on PBS is The Iowa State Fair Highlights once a year in August.

Finally, after 4 years of making fun of everyone but Obama, they get around to it. Sorry I missed it but stopped watching long time ago when they stopped being funny. I think we should stop funding PBS. Let them sell ads the old fashioned way like everyone else.

The only show I watched regularly on a PBS station was the Red Green Show available in my part of the world only on RI Public Television. The enlightened management of WGBH, Boston thought the show too lowbrow for a "flagship" station.

Thanks for the post. I dozed off last night before seeing the clips. I find SNL biased, campy, sometimes vulgar, embedding political indoctrination in many skits - but funny. That said: I still watch and enjoy it, because I can filter out the bad stuff. The concern is how many viewers - especially those in their 20s who can vote - take the trouble to separate out the negative elements.

Broadside was on PBS yesterday. I don't know if it's new. It's very good. It's the story of Charles II and his trade war with the Dutch. I missed the credits, football was on too. PBS could easily be self sufficient. Without PBS I'd have never seen Are you Being Served or Rumpole of the Bailey.

The Presidential debates are one area where SNL never fails to excel. I'm telling you - in 2000, their accurate portrayal of said debates swung enough votes in that election to GW. They skewered O and MSNBC.

It is outrageous that the country is $14,000,000,000,000 in debt and we can't cut taxpayer funding for PBS and tens of thousands of similar government give aways. By the way, there sure are a lot of commercials on non-commercial PBS. Additionally, if you want to view BBC reruns buy them on DVDs.

No doubt there are parents who have frank, frequent, open and easy discussions with their teens about sex. I’ve never met any. A recent solicitation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) reveals that the agency is seeking a "massive" online database capable of pulling up individuals´ personal information, connections and associates. RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

SANFORD - Trayvon Martin´s parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against the homeowners association of the Sanford subdivision where their teenage son was killed.
