President Obama's poor debate performance may have shattered some illusions among his supporters in the liberal media elite. Having invested themselves in the illusion of him as the fulfillment of the liberal dream of shattering glass ceilings and pernicious racial stereotypes, his evident lack of preparation felt like a betrayal to some. They are starting to catch on that they bought into an illusion. So they are turning on him. Witness the shocking empty chair cover on the New Yorker, edited by Obama hagiographer David Remnick: The comments which follow savaging Obama are worth reading, too.
Some of the best fun I have with fellow Blacks is to end my litany of worsening conditions for all Americans and particularly Black under Zero with two reality check assertions...first, if McCain had won in 2008 and these conditions existed, Blacks would be in the streets protesting...second, if the first Black in major league baseball had not been MVP Jackie Robinson, but some guy that batted under .150 for 4 years, we would have been embarrassed and alleging his selection was a set-up to begin with...
Liberals are easily taken in by performances (IMO). The 'good show' is what matters - not performance. When the performer flops, they recoil in horror, which is what has happened to so many of their nominees (LBJ, McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Algore, Dukakis, Kerry, and now Obama).
"Lurking in the background is the specter of becoming a laughingstock."
For those of us who began laughing at the presidential farce of barry obama in 2008 (if not his actions and his very real destruction of the country) it's great to now have a lot of company. The lazy, incompetent, vacationing, golf-playing fraud gave his hand away very early. Some people just need to be hit with a 2 x 4 before their eyes open.
#5, one get's a stange momentary silence or pause...remember most Blacks lined up behind Hillary and Bill before Zero started to gain traction in the primaries and then jumped on board...then there was the shock of his election and now an under current that he is in over his head...in short, Zero is running out of excuses...
At least, poster #1, many of those blacks who have turned on obama are planning on staying home and not voting. I applaud them for at least that and certainly do offer the ones I know encouragement to stay home, indeed. If obit loses just 5% of the black vote, that will be a significant victory for truth. Hopefully, with obit being outed as the first gay president will cost him at least 5%. At least!
This is not true or even possible. I mean, obama is the smartest person in America to be elected president. He is genius level. I assume his performance is a dark mystery to us mortals because we are too stupid to understand his brilliant strategy. s/o The media will be kissing his butt again before the weekend is over.
I dunno, I hope it's true. All the Democrats I know are voting for His Majesty again. The only difference being they can't pretend anymore that it's about sparkly unicorns. This time, a vote for Obama is an intentional vote for Decline, no way to hide it. The Democrats I know are OK with this.
While I agree with #14, enablers jumping ship often happens when a flim-flam artist is exposed. Those participating in the scam are worried that they, too, will be exposed. Thus, while liberals cannot be "embarrassed", they must cover their "bare-a**es".
Libs have no problem championing any empty suit, they just don't appreciate hard work experience same as we do. They are gullible and knee jerk responsive without questioning anything. Embarrassed a bit but more quick to blame others for their disgrace.
To #1's excellent baseball analogy: If the "Jackie Robinson" batting .150, and maybe leading the lead in strike outs and errors in the field, were today, the media would be full of excuses: Nobody knew how hard it would be, etc., etc.
Nothing looks as hopelessly star-crossed, or spawns as many excuses, as bad leadership.
It's as true of the smallest subcommittee on the school PTA as it is in the Oval Office.
Anecdotal, but three of the most liberal people I know are voting for Romney. Also, #1's analysis is excellent.
SNL SKEWERED O and MSNBC last night. They had him falling asleep at the podium. However liberal they may be, one of the best things they ALWAYS do is paint an accurate picture of the Presidential debates. Remember 2000, when they so accurately portrayed GW and Algore in each debate? I swear to this day that that made a difference in a lot of votes because it accurately showed the stupidity of Algore. Yes, I think Mr. Lifson is exactly right. (Natch.)
Couple of more analogies...Blacks used to travel for miles to nearest neighbor with a radio to listen to a Joe Louis fight, and would expect him to Win, not just enter the ring! Ditto with tracking Casius Clay and didn't care when he changed his name cuz he was winning. And as to Zero's slide into a so-call Black dialect, most recently displayed in the 2007 video before a group of Black preachers, I challenge anyone to find a speech of the most celebrated Black preacher of the past century speaking in a so-called dialect. We learned to hold our breath throughout a MLK, Jr. appearance on a Meet the Press, etc., just hoping he wouldn't split a verb and would "represent"! He elevated, Zero deflates...damn champion of food stamps over jobs...
But why? Why should they be embarrassed by Obama? Just because he didn't articulate their position well, doesn't change the fact that he believes everything they do. They should be saying, So what?
Or else...They should have been embarrassed long ago. Did they not see the styrofoam columns. The seal of the president- elect? The podium and TelePrompTer in the elementary classroom? The awful rudeness to the Supremes at the SOTU? The photoshopped pictures? The endless golf? The bows to muslims? the royal gaffes? the unearned Nobel? I mean, come on.
So NOW you're embarrassed? News flash, liberals. Not ONE thing has changed. Your boyfriend is a major dweeb.
Yes, the Leftist intelligentsia persuaded themselves that Obambi was a "genius."
Michael Beschloss, a liberal "presidential historian" and subscriber to this belief, provided one of the most unintentionally funny moments in radio history when this claim was abruptly challenged by Don Imus.
Beschloss, a guest on the Imus radio show, had just gushed that Obama had the "highest IQ" of any US president. An incredulous Imus interjected "What is his IQ? How do you know? What IS Obama's IQ?"
May I suggest another reason the left is embarrassed by the Obamanation of Desolation?
They are embarrassed because he unabashedly implemented their policies and they didn't work.
Now they cannot criticize him without being labeled a racist, mother hating, baby killing bigot because anyone who questioned Obama in 2008 was labeled as such. They have no other candidate at this point.
No one can deny the nature of jihad after last week´s horrors in Kenya were broadcast around the world. Everybody who saw the brutal Nairobi mall killings gets it. But our profoundly corrupt and Muslim-penetrated media and political class will keep denying those horrors. British PM David Cameron just made the usual nauseating pronouncement that "Islam means peace." The ruling classes in the West were able to twist and cover up the truth after 9/11. They are desperate to peddle denial, because they are deeply afraid that popular outrage will destroy their power. Hillary hired a Muslim Brotherhood loyalist, Huma Abedin,
In one of his more disgraceful outbursts, John McCain recently blasted Ted Cruz (snip) Maybe I am misreading McCain´s response to Cruz, but I infer that the implication here is: we are all slaves by nature and must submit to whichever coterie has attained power over the ever-growing and self-enriching amoeba of Washington, D.C. I felt hurt. Then I felt angry. Then I wondered if there is some deeper metaphysics to what McCain said. Is he perhaps striking at some eternal wisdom about the human condition -- resistance is futile? Or is John McCain just very old?
Not too long ago, I spent a few days at an oceanfront resort hotel. While I was there, an Islamic group of about a hundred people checked in for a few days. My stay at the beach provided an unforeseen opportunity to observe their psychosocial process. I got to watch a group of jeans-clad teenagers plot to escape their parents. I watched a father grab and swat his son, who was running up and down a broad, carpeted staircase (good luck keeping that one down on the farm). One evening, a woman in a full black burqa walked into the lobby. At
Apparently, people are not signing up for Obamacare at anywhere near the levels necessary to sustain the illusion of public acceptance. We know this not because any data has been released, but rather by the self-evident desperation of the sales effort. Just as a desperate drowning man flails his arms about, seeking to hold onto something that can save him, so has the Obamacare marketing team seized upon the cheapest of cheap tricks. Behold: (snip)If there ever were a campaign targeted at low information, emotionally-swayed people, this is it. The only question is: what happens when this doesn´t work? There are
The current campaign to deprive President Obama´s health care leviathan of the life-sustaining tax dollars it needs for full bureaucratic metastasis is what left-wingers call a consciousness-raising exercise. It matters next to nothing if current Republican efforts succeed in immediately defunding Obamacare. That´s because this is just the opening round (snip)Although the master of political theater, Rules for Radicals author Saul Alinsky, was an irredeemably anti-American Marxist with a taste for political violence, he wasn´t wrong about everything. He believed in using public spectacles to generate the friction that is a precondition of change. "Action comes from keeping the heat
Does the extinguished candle care about the darkness? Ask the huddled masses who are yearning to be free. America was once thought of as a light unto nations. Obama has single-handedly extinguished that light. (snip)As the most powerful man in the world, he would level the playing field, even if it meant cutting America off at the knees. Good and evil would be made equivalent, with evil sanctioned by the world´s only remaining superpower. He turned against our allies (particularly Israel) and showed them that America could not be relied on. He taxed us into poverty and stirred up racial
The intriguing possibility that Lois Lerner might turn John Dean is on the table. Patrick Howley of The Daily Caller has tracked down what seems to be going on behind the scenes. IRS scandal figure Lois Lerner is negotiating through her lawyers with Rep. Darrell Issa´s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about possibly gaining immunity to testify again in the committee´s investigative hearings.(snip)Because it appears she was less than truthful in her testimony, Lerner has a lot to lose. She just retired and now reportedly is getting paid $50 large a year until she dies as a parting gift
Dr. Thomas Sowell, in his recent column for National Review, asserts that the effort to defund Obamacare is an unnecessary "distraction" which serves only to help the president and Democrats.(snip)options are not a luxury we conservatives have. We have been under siege, and are now surrounded, awaiting the coming salvos of Obamacare implementation which will decimate American liberty. Government bureaucrats stand ready to sign up millions of new dependents to the government healthcare rolls, whose only job will be to vote for Democrats in the coming elections to ensure continued benefits -- which by hook, crook, or Democrat-organized bussing to
Although Al Shabaab is the largest and most violent terrorist group in Somalia, there is relatively little known about this Al Qaeda group´s day-to-day functioning. Formed in the chaos of Mogadishu in 2006 by the radical Islamic Courts in the capital city, Al Shabaab -- translated from Arabic as "The Youth" -- originally performed duties as enforcers and police for the court. (snip) In order to put a human face to Al Shabaab, I arranged an interview with Ahmed, a 24 year old, self-described member of Al Shabaab, in the Sahafi Hotel in Mogadishu in late June. He arrived a
The GOP is factionalizing, with the conservative base backing the Cruz-Lee strategy to defund Obamacare, and the GOP establishment attacking it directly but mostly indirectly. It is a remarkable moment, crystallizing the long-simmering revolt against the leadership for its failure to fight on the principles the base cares about passionately. They seek a champion, and Ted Cruz grabbed what he saw as the opportunity to spearhead the opposition to Obamacare, a new program which the public also dislikes and fears. By mobilizing the base, Cruz was able to overcome the resistance of Speaker Boehner, pillar of the GOP establishment and widely
It is mindboggling that so many people are totally unaware of ObamaCare, have no interest in discussing it, and are dismissive and rude if someone attempts to have a rational conversation about a law that will drastically change the landscape of this country. This deliberate ignorance continues to beget denial. Consequently, we find America on the verge of a system that apparently only African and Eastern European acquaintances of mine instantly understand, since they ran away from the very draconian worldview that we will all face in a matter of days if ObamaCare is not stopped dead in its tracks. Daily, one
Across America, many urban school districts are on life support, and in some places, the plug is ready to be pulled. This dire reality is routinely discussed, but missing from the conversation is the ever-growing dropout rate in urban schools. No, not the student dropout rate, but that of teachers. The teachers´ dropout rate is a result of burnout after their ambition is crushed by a climate of cultural adversity. In other words, their ´save the kids´ optimism dissolved into a ´run from the kids´ reality. These teachers anticipated teaching life-changing lessons to the kids but ended up learning life-changing
President Obama lied to us. It wasn’t a white lie. It wasn’t a fib. It wasn’t a half truth. It was a bold-faced lie. “No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise,” President Obama told the American Medical Association in 2009. “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.” That statement turned out to be a lie. Period. On Thursday I asked my Facebook community if they
Earlier this week, in an effort led by Sen. Ted Cruz, some of my Republican colleagues and I took to the Senate floor with the intent of making Washington listen. The American people have made it abundantly clear that they do not want Obamacare. In fact, a majority of elected officials, the same officials that voted to implement this health care mandate, do not want it, either. Last summer, in a 5-4 decision authored by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., the Supreme Court wrongly concluded that Obamacare’s individual mandate could stand. As a consequence of the court’s ruling, starting
Sen. Lindsey Graham may face a tea party challenge back home, but he’s not shying away from blasting the strategy of fellow GOP Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah — and he had some choice words for any Republican or Democrat who causes a government shutdown. “If the government shuts down, it’s not what you think it would be. I have actually experienced that,” Graham said. “If anybody creates a process where our military doesn’t get paid, and their families, they’re going to make an enemy … of me for life.”
Barilla Pasta stepped on a landmine this week telling Italian media the company would never feature or market directly to gay couples. If they had a problem with that, said its chairman, they could eat another brand of pasta. I pity the fool who messes with the purchasing power of the LGBT community. The remarks as widely reported, were made by Guido Barilla on La Zanzara, an Italian radio program. I would never make a spot with a homosexual family. Not out of a lack of respect but because I do not see it like they do. (My idea of)
NEW YORK- U.S. and international gay rights supporters called on Friday for a boycott of Italian pasta maker Barilla, whose chairman said he would never feature a gay family in its advertising. The comments sparked a firestorm of protest on social media and resulted in online petitions in English, German and Italian, including one by Italian playwright and Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo. A MoveOn.org petition started by Beth Allen, a Takoma Park, Maryland, mother of two and a lesbian, garnered 85,000 signatures by Friday evening. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday brought home a 2,700-year-old Persian artifact the US administration gave him as “a special gift" to Iranians, media reports said. “The Americans contacted us on Thursday and said ´we have a gift for you´,” Rouhani told reporters upon arrival at the airport in Tehran, the ILNA news agency reported. “They gave it back as a special gift to the Iranian nation.” Rouhani was speaking of a 7th century BC silver Persian drinking cup in the shape of a winged Griffin, a legendary creature with the head of an eagle and body of a lion.
Mitt Romney on Friday said the Republican threat to shut down the government in an attempt to defund ObamaCare isn’t an “effective” strategy. "We´re more effective tactically not to use a shutdown of some kind to pursue the ... anti-Obamacare objective,” Romney said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. “I don´t think that will be as effective.” (Snip) "I think there´s a better way of getting rid of ObamaCare — my own view — and that is, one, delaying it by at least a year,” Romney said. “That was Senator (Joe) Manchin´s idea, the Democrats´ idea.”
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had finished his last meetings in New York Friday and was in a car headed to the airport when President Barack Obama called. (Snip) The Iranian press office added: "The Iranian and U.S. presidents underlined the need for a political will for expediting resolution of West´s standoff with Iran over the latter´s nuclear program. President Rouhani and President Obama stressed the necessity for mutual cooperation on different regional issues." For his part, Rouhani took to Twitter to reveal what the two leaders discussed.
Most Americans don´t know that ObamaCare´s new insurance marketplaces are set to open next week, according to a new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation. In Kaiser´s latest tracking poll, 64 percent of respondents didn´t know when the law´s new insurance marketplaces open. Fifteen percent knew the correct date, Oct. 1, while another 20 percent chose specific but incorrect dates. (Snip) The poll found even less awareness of the new marketplaces among the uninsured Americans who stand to benefit most from the healthcare law. Among uninsured respondents, 74 percent did not know when the exchanges launch, compared with 12 percent
In Western news-making and opinion-forming circles, there’s a palpable reluctance to talk about the most noteworthy thing about modern Islamist violence: its barbarism, its graphic lack of moral restraint.[Snip] Across the commentating board, people are sheepish about pointing out the historically unique lunacy of Islamist violence and its utter detachment from any recognisable moral universe or human values. We have to talk about this barbarism; we have to appreciate how new and unusual it is, how different it is even from the terrorism of the 1970s or of the early twentieth century. We owe it to the victims of these
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) claimed on Friday that the federal budget deficit has “been cut in half” under Obama. udget figures provided by the White House show that the deficit nearly tripled from 2008 to 2009, when Obama took office, and has remained above $1 trillion since then, though 2013 projections are slightly lower. The country has seen higher budget deficits during every year of Obama’s presidency than it did during any of his predecessor’s eight years in office. The White House provides the following deficit numbers: 2005: $318 billion 2006: $248 billion 2007: $161 billion 2008: $459 billion
The Republican Party is “begging for America to fail” by rooting for President Obama’s signature health care law to fail, former President Bill Clinton said during an interview for “This Week” with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, “I’ve never seen a time — can you remember a time in your lifetime when a major political party was just sitting around, begging for America to fail … I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I’ll be shocked if it fails,” Clinton, who attempted during his first term as president to overhaul the country’s healthcare system in the early 1990s, said during an
