The answer in the article seems to be...Romney! Or at least, business men and those who don't hand out sufficiently generous benefit checks. Obama is blameless, of course.

Let's see, there's millions out of work in the country and Gibson cherrypicks a handful that fit the desired result...evil corporations. I'm sure that's intended to be a subtle dig at Romney. In true WaPo style, Gibson glides right over the slew of government regulations and other meddling tactics that force the evil corporations to trim the workforce and/or ship production to more favorable states and foreign countries. I find it interesting that this article is so short...usually they'd write a lengthy one with loads of sympathetic characters and fudged facts. Must have gone for the abridged version in order to give the audience a chance at understanding it.

Never mentioned: UNIONS and their constant unreasonable demands.

Those policies of the past gave us unprecedented growth and power, creating a productive and energetic society which was the envy of the world.. The policies of Obama-Biden-Chaves have given us food stamps and 4 dollar gasoline. Why is this even an issue?

I have two friends who have been unemployed for years, and a third who was unemployed for two years before finding a job.

The two who are registered Republican (one conservative, one moderate) blamed themselves. The one who is a Democrat blames big business.

I would not be surprised if the Post just naturally weeded out respondents who didn't blame business.

As other posters have pointed out, while the article wants to pin the blame on "evil corporate" America for not making sure people have jobs, it never shows the other side where regulations, unions, taxes, and other factors squeeze the money out of businesses.

Maybe Liberals simply don't understand that private businesses can't operate the way that the govt does -- by spending money that isn't there. Business do not have a moral obligation to hire people. They are not required to pay for things (such as people) when they can't afford to do so -- and it would most likely cause a quick collapse (and maybe criminal charges) if they did.

I am not sure what world Liberals live in, but it isn't the real one.

Most people are just plain ignorant, and do not understand business or economics.

Natural business cycles (boom and bust) are magnified by government intervention. This one is the result of Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd.
