The Zombie Apocalypse
“Town Hall” debate is coming

Hot Air, by Libby Sternberg

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 10/6/2012 4:46:26 AM

The glow of the first presidential debate still warms the hearts of Republicans as their nominee, Mitt Romney, clearly outshone President Obama. Savor the moment. The next presidential debate on October 16 is….(wait for it)….****The TOWN HALL FORMAT!**** Am I the only one who loathes this kind of discussion arrangement? The Commission on Presidential Debates describes the setup thus: The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond,

I agree that the Town Hall format is a potential trap for Romney. Who the heck is really undecided at this point? Let 's see do I pick Karl Marx or Ronald Reagan...geez, I dunno, they're so similar. Duhhh.

And Candy (All-day Liberal Sucker) Crowley as moderator? Yeah, right. She's already said blatantly anti-Romney comments on air. How the heck did she get picked as an impartial moderator?

Our one consolation is that Obama showed that he can't process real issues and actual Math in real time. Mitt can. So I say Mitt can overcome the doofus duo of Eye Candy and I Candy.

While I remain fairly confident Romney will clean B.O's clock yet again, this format cannot be considered a 'debate' but rather a 'question & answer' routine. Aside from the point that its unfathomable who could possibly be 'undecided' at this point, the potential trap is the people asking the questions are more likely to be DNC operatives pretending to be average joes & janes.

Look for more 'but Mr. Romney, you didn't answer my lame question' type of things. And also this little gem from the article: "Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion." Watch it closely. That one minute will be the key here.

Romney from years of corporate training knows how to answer a question, make his points and stick to the 2 minutes. Choom from his years of pandering doesn't know how to cover anything in 2 minutes. It'll be interesting.

Yeah, Hussein will spend the first minute and a half blaming others for the problem. No way he can give a cogent solution in 30 seconds. Or 25, if he gets treated badly.

As if Gov. Romney is going to be 'trapped' by a town hall format.

He's had to deal with five boys!!! He'll do very well.

There is an old saying about ideas:

If you can't write your idea on the back of a business card, you don't have a clear idea.

Romney knows this and I expect he will do well. Obama, OTOH, will use up his minutes babbling with no substance. Still, I don't like the format and would prefer they all be similar to the first debate.

I don't like these namby-pamby town hall creations but based on what I saw the other night I think that Gov. Romney will handle things just fine.

Obama cannot defend the things he's done over these past 4 years, it's as simple as that.

I wonder how much of this will be "stacked" to give O the advantage. How many questions are prepackaged and how many questioners are planted?

This is the world we live in now and I don't like it one bit. I want to go back to the days of Ozzie and Harriet, Bonanza, and Mayberry. To a time when couples stayed married and divorce was an aberration.

I know, I'm dreaming again. The God-less world of attempted socialist Utopia is maddening; all fun and games until nationalized health care decides who is worth keeping and who isn't. It's just around the corner, you know.

People asking 0bama a really tough question are afraid of their taxes being audited. No such fear on the other side. Even if the audience is not packed with Kool Aid drinkers this is not fair. But looking at recent trend of events even this cigar will explode in the 'Rats' and Media's faces.

Romney had better be ready for the Sandra Fluker questions:

Why can't I have control of my own body? (Answer: why don't you want control of your entire life? Of your money? Of your kids' education?)

Wouldn't you rather pay for birth control pills than an abortion? (Answer: Why should you have to pay for birth control for anyone other than yourself? If you can't afford birth control for just yourself, how are you going to afford it for yourself and all your friends and neighbors?)

Rules are what is allowed. There are no penalty flags thrown on stage. Romney is well experienced as a Mormon elder in empathizing and responding to people in need. His problem is NOT that he's out of touch or unable to relate. His problem will be focusing his answers through conservatism. Anyone who is willing to pass off forced government health industry price manipulation (i.e. Romneycare/Obamacare) as conservative needs to reconsider.

The TM idea works well enough when citizens discuss the cost of building rebuilding the outhouse behind the elementary school.

It becomes a farce when extended to national problems.

Let's follow the process: In a big room a few selected people will ask their question. The selection may or may not be random or honestly made but it is still a selection.

Those not selected may as well not exist.

Candidates will then recite a rehearsed answer.

The correct description of the process is:
The second presidential debate will allow a few people, chosen in some way, citizens or not, to ask a question.

Obama spoke for 5 minutes more that Romney did in Debate #1.

More time does not help Obama.
He always uses it for blame and card playing ( the "hate-cards" of Race, Class, Gender, Faith, Government mandates).

Romney has already started walking back his 47% remark.

Biden has confirmed the 1 billion dollar tax hike.

Obama doesn't Believe that Anybody Is Entitled To Success... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeJH2mMvIQo)

Romney does!

Romney will do fine if he sticks to the solutions and let's Obama try to character assassinate him along with his planted Obama-zombies. Independents and undecideds will be listening for solutions not personal attacks. Romney will do fine!

How many federal agencies does it take to do catfish safety inspections? At least three, according to the Government Accountability Office, which on Tuesday released its 2013 report on fragmentation and duplication of federal programs. This year´s report -- there were two previous editions of the report first requested by Sen. That brings the three-year total of potential savings documented by GAO to $295 billion. There´s more than a touch of Chicken Little in common arguments for more infrastructure spending. "The bridges are falling, the bridges are falling!" Every four years, the American Society of Civil Engineers issues the U.S. an infrastructure "report card." And, just as predictably, it says that U.S. infrastructure is decrepit and needs expensive new investments. The latest one, released last month, gave the nation a D+ grade and recommended an extra $1.6 trillion in spending by 2020. Are American bridges actually falling, though? Is the U.S. underinvested in infrastructure? Maybe it´s going too far to say,
