| Was the unemployment report released this morning gamed by the powers that be in Washington? Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch thinks so and had this to say in a tweet released right after the report, Jack Welch @jack_welch Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can’t debate so change numbers Well, while Welch and many others believe a conspiracy is at work, let’s take a harder look at the numbers.

I just heard Megan Kelly interviewing Lou Dobbs. He said that the BLS achieved the October numbers by TELEPHONING 50,000 households. They took a poll?? This is scientific??

Yeah, they polled 50,000 households then guesstimated that 875,000 found employment within the past month. Anyone else smell a lie?

#1 this is how the unemployment has always been done. the target number is 60,000 households each month. I suspect that the issue lies not in the methodology but in a change in what the BLS now condiders "employment".
The fact that they suddenly found almost a million new employed people at a time when all economic indicators are turning south strongly supports the fact that those "jobs" have been there all along but were not counted as real jobs. By changing the definition (something the left does all the time) previously uncounted "jobs" appear.
The problem with fudging data like this though is that since you are extrapolating from 60,000 to 100 million no one is quite sure how much fudge will move the number a believable distance.
They redefined some hobbies into jobs and when it got multiplied out they ended up skewing it too much.
But by then the report was due and they could not scurry back the numbers to a more believable 0.1 percent drop, to be followed by a bigger one on Nov 2.
They "found" that they had undercounted new jobs in July and August by over 50%? Anyone actually believe that? They didn't they just redefined the requirement for mowing the lawn to equal employment.
They tried to fudge for a believable best growth seen in 4 years and got a laughable best growth seen since records have been kept, 29 years. WHo knew Obamas economy would outdo both Reagan and Clinton.

I had no idea that the BLS numbers were extrapolated from telephone surveys. For some strange reason I figured that this kind of data was obtained in a more scientific manner. I wonder how it is that the Bureau of Labor Statistics uses the same data collection methods as Proctor and Gamble would have used in 1954 to gauge the popularity of a new detergent...

Arianna Huffington partied so hard in her rented Chelsea loft that it looked like a scene from Animal House after a rowdy frat party, according to a new lawsuit. When Huffington departed the 4,400 square foot, seven-story apartment at 227 W. 17th Street in January she´d caused $275,000 in damages ranging from "gouged, stained and otherwise damaged" walls, "scratched, punctured" wood floors, bloodied mattresses and broken appliances, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit charges. "Huffington was using the apartment for large parties and business functions in breach of the sublease and Huffington´s promises," court papers allege.

Although the term "useful idiots" was originally attributed to Vladimir Lenin, its origin is undetermined but it is very applicable to the naïve celebrities in Hollywood and the media now mourning the death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Much like the devotees of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, these grieving individuals have made no effort to learn the truth about those they lionize. One has to feel some pity for the likes of the Sean Penns, Oliver Stones, Michael Moores, Danny Glovers, and idolaters who naively support malignant despots and causes believing them to be a force for good.

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out.
