| Congressman Todd Akin failed to report almost $130,000 in Missouri legislative pension income over the past 10 years on his congressional financial disclosure report, his office acknowledged this morning. “This was an unintentional oversight and I regret any inconvenience this may cause,” Akin wrote in a letter to the House Ethics committee this week. The acknowledgment came after a Post-Dispatch inquiry into why Akin showed no Missouri pension payments on the congressional form. Asked if the discovery came in response the newspaper’s questions, Akin spokesman Steve Taylor said only that it was the result of “an inquiry.”

Akin is toast. McCaskill is running ads proclaiming that she is a centrist and other ads about Akin's idiotic rape statement are flooding the airways here in Missouri. I have never seen or heard a single Akin ad. This seat was an easy republican pick up, but the selfish idiot threw it away.

Is there a double standard? Yes. Do we expect better of the people who represent us? Yes, particularly those that carry our brand.
This, once again, is a sign that Akin is not prepared, thoughtful, or careful. He is certainly a better candidate than McCaskill but does he really need to keep shooting himself in the foot?

Here in S'W Mo I hear a few C Mc ads, even on the radio during Limbaugh's time slot! Don't recall any of Akin's ads. My goodness, but this guy is poision. Slip of the toungue, honest mistake, oops I forgot...What next, the dog ate my homework? I think he knew when he won (unexpectedly) that it was because of Dem dirty tricks, and so thought to ingratiate himself to the far right with a clever speech about rape/abortion. McCaskill is very ignorant, supports tax increases, and voted for all Obama's far left programs, including obamacare. Those are observable facts and do not require a report from the St. Louis Dispatch. I don't care scratch about any pension payment reporting forms. The St. Louis Dispatch should go cover Harry Reid or Maxine Waters if they are interested in ethics violations.
