Obama is wrong for
America on Election Day

Washington Times, by Donald H. Rumsfeld

With the presidential election only a few weeks away, it’s appropriate to discuss where our country is today, and what it can be in the years ahead. A few weeks ago, Vice President Joe Biden, in his convention acceptance speech, exclaimed, “America is not in decline.” It strikes me when the vice president feels he has to stand up and say that, it’s a bit like acknowledging that America is in decline and that the world senses it, but he doesn’t want to admit it. Let me be clear — I do not believe America is destined

Darn right that Obama is wrong for America.

QUESTION... Where are all of the Obama '12 bumper stickers? Even the zombie Democrats cannot get excited about the Kenyan Marxist.

A damning indictment of the very bad and stupid useful idiot who is selling out America. I miss the Zen of Rumsfeld.

In so many well thought out words, Mr. Rumsfeld points out and illuminates the cloud of imbeciles around the President. All of them hanging on his every word and panting dog-like, ready to do his every command.

It is obscene and you can bet that we do see, like Mr. Rumsfeld so aptly describes, the scraps of information that escapes from the MSM. The scraps that have been so patiently distilled over the last four years. These condensed scraps have helped us see that the heart of this scoundrel is pitch black.

Rumsfeld has always been a favorite of mine. I loved his press interviews when he was Secretary of Defense. He neatly skewered the liberal press on many occasions.

This country has bounced back from worst things than Obama. The problem is the hug poulation shift towards liberalism andthe entitlement culture. The left brags about Eisenhower's interstate highway bill and the GI bill after the WWII as examples of government intervention causing an economic rebound.During these time periods people were happy to find work and get their hands dirty. Now illegals fill those kinds of jobs and a chuck of that money gets wired out of the country,so our economy doesn't benefit.

The GI Bill spurned home construction which is always a huge backbone of a recovery.Obama hates the idea of people having the mobility to own a nice house in the suburbs because it reinforces the idea of white privilege. So home builders can't get construction loans. Maryland has all kinds of blockades on home building, where Virgina doesn't so they're doing fine while there's not much going on in Maryland.

Lovely to hear from our dear Rummy again!

As was setting up for my class last night I overheard several students remarking on how poorly the President had done in the debates. This is in Buffalo where there are very few Republicans. If the undergrads are getting it, I have some hope.

It is too early to say much about today’s terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon, but one thing struck me when I watched this video, which Steve posted earlier today, as well as other videos and photos of the aftermath of the explosions: The response to the bombs by the crowd at the finish line was, I think, exemplary. Sure, many people fled from the explosions, and reasonably so. But a remarkable number ran, as they say, to the sound of the guns, even though when two bombs go off, one might well expect more. Many of these were professionals. The finish line of a marathon is a fortuitous spot to bomb,

U.S. Folding on North Korea?

It was too good to last. For the last few weeks, the Obama administration has been showing more fortitude in confronting a belligerent North Korea than either the Bush or Clinton administrations had done. But last week, as I previously noted, there was a worrisome leak in the New York Times which quoted administration officials as saying that any response to a North Korean attack would be strictly proportional—which can only encourage Kim Jong-un to act, safe in the knowledge that the U.S. and South Korea will not “over-react” and bring down his criminal regime in response.

President Obama’s offer to trim Social Security benefits has perplexed and angered Democrats, but GOP leaders are embracing the proposal and rushing to jump-start a debate that will delve even more deeply into the touchy topic of federal spending on the elderly. This week, two House subcommittees plan to hold hearings on “reforms to protect and preserve” programs for retirees, starting with Obama’s proposal to apply a less generous measure of inflation to annual increases in Social Security benefits. Also on the table are higher Medicare premiums and reduced benefits for better-off seniors,

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, kicked off Monday’s session by saying the victims of December’s Connecticut shooting rampage deserve a vote on gun legislation and warning of “unreasonable extremists” who may try to derail or delay the process. Mr. Reid said protecting citizens’ Second Amendment rights and working to prevent gun violence are “both worthy goals, and they should not be mutually exclusive goals.” The Senate on Monday begins debate on a gun-control bill, the expected centerpiece of which is a amendment that would expand gun-purchase background

President Obama is following the murder trial of a Philadelphia abortionist, but the White House wouldn’t say Monday whether he’s drawn any conclusions from the gruesome testimony. “The president is aware of this,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said in response to a reporter’s question of whether Mr. Obama is paying attention to the trial of Kermit Gosnell. But asked if Mr. Obama had reached any public policy lessons from the trial, Mr. Carney said, “The president does not and cannot take a position on an ongoing trial.” Dr. Gosnell is on trial on murder

LightBox spoke with Boston Globe photographer John Tlumacki, who photographed the explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Tlumacki, who has photographed more than 20 marathons in his 30 years at the Globe, describes the sheer chaos of the scene: I was covering the finish line at the ground level at the marathon. Everything was going on as usual. It was jovial — people were happy, clapping — and getting to a point where it gets a little boring as a photographer. And then we heard this explosion. It was sort of like, ok, what’s that all about?

AUSTIN, Texas — Republican mega-donor Bob Perry never cared for the spotlight. But writing big checks and financing one of the most famous television ads ever in a presidential campaign made the Texas millionaire famous nonetheless. A wealthy Houston homebuilder who shunned publicity while generously bankrolling GOP candidates — and becoming a force in a new era of lavish spending in American politics — Perry died over the weekend, said former Texas state Rep. Neal Jones, a close family friend. Jones said late Sunday that Perry died "peacefully in his sleep" Saturday night. He did not offer further details.

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

Is media bias to blame for lack of Gosnell coverage? Or something far more banal? The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.
