“[Y]ou can have a president you love, but if you don’t have a Congress that’s willing to work, you know, you wind up stalled in so many ways,” First Lady Michelle Obama said Wednesday on Tom Joyner’s radio program. “And I think that Barack has done a phenomenal job working around a Congress that has never been willing to help move the country forward on so many different issues,” she said. “But I think he’s done everything humanly possible to get things passed around the margins. But, you know, just imagine where this country will
Comments: Does that woman even understand what she said?? Yes, he sure has done an excellent job of doing end runs around congress! Those two wouldn't know the truth if it smacked them in the face. She disgusts me.
All this reminds me of the story in Woodward's latest book ... when the Republicans won the House in 2010, the White House had to scramble because they couldn't find a cell number for John Boehner to make the proticol-required congratulatory phone call.
Work with Congress ... even Nasty Nancy puts Dear Leader(US) on hold.
Moochelle seems to blame congress for not working with BO and gave him high mark in "working around congress". Does Moochelle forget that BO had both chambers of congress for the first 2 years when he ramed Obamacare thru without one single Repub. vote. BO also had no problem is ignoring the Constitution on several issues. Can you just imagine what BO would do to the Constitution and the country if given 4 more years. I still can't get over the $90 billion he threw away to the green industries. Lets face it,BO is way over his head. BO likes the perks of office but does not want to do the work. Let's send him back to Chicago and maybe he can get his old Community Organizer job back.
This is the trick for the Dems to try and link Congress as controlled by Republicans just like they used 8 years of Bush White House in the lead-up to the 2008 presidential campaign when the Democrats actually controlled both the House and Senate.
Romney needs to remind viewers in the next debate that Democrats control the Senate, and they have failed to pass a budget simply because they don't want to tell their voters the bad news.
Romney should know the amount the Dems expect they could get from the "rich" and illustrate clearly how little it is compared to the hole the Democrats dug us into with their wild spending.
But the US Constitution says that the US Congress decides what the law will be and not the President. Does that matter to the Obamas, apparently not, so how can Barack Obama honestly take the oath of office of the President of the USA?
President Obama’s signature legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, has stolen the joy from being a physician or hospital administrator, Dr. Ben Carson said. On Fox News on Monday, Dr. Carson called Obamacare a killjoy — and a financial disaster. “We’ve had three years now to see what’s in it,” he said, “and the level of enthusiasm has not gone up. In fact, it is going down as people are finding out what’s happening.” Dr. Carson also had a message for Americans who don’t want Obamacare: Get moving and get politicos to repeal it.
A group demanding organ transplants for illegal immigrants protested in a hunger strike for the seventh straight day on Sunday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. About 40 people gathered in front of the hospital, including the 14 people on the hunger strike, My Fox Chicago reported. “We’re asking for help,” said Blanca Gomez, 23, who needs a kidney transplant. “I go to dialysis three times a week. I’m not going off the hunger strike until I get on the transplant list.” The group said 14 illegal immigrants in Chicago need either a liver or kidney transplant,
Freshman Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) said during a town hall meeting that while questions about President Obama´s birth certificate were not the best use of time, he was nevertheless supporting further investigation into the president´s birthplace because if he were removed from office, “we can get rid of everything he’s done.” Yoho said he would support legislation championed by Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) to investigate the president´s birthplace because "if it is true" that the president was not, in fact, born in Hawaii, "it’s illegal, he shouldn’t be there and we can get rid of
Bob Woodward expressed optimism Tuesday about Amazon.com billionaire Jeff Bezos’s purchase of The Washington Post, saying “this isn’t Rupert Murdoch buying the Wall Street Journal.’ Appearing on MSNBC´s “Morning Joe,” Woodward referred to Bezos as “one of the real innovators” and said the tycoon´s vision, business acumen, and “deep pockets” could greatly help the paper in the long term. “If there´s anything done inefficiently it´s the news business and so we need to be shaken up,” Woodward said. “I think he will do that.”
Washington - The vice chairman of the Federal Election Commission told CNN on Monday he has seen numerous undisclosed e-mails between FEC staffers and the Internal Revenue Service that raise new questions about potential collusion between the two federal agencies in the alleged targeting of conservative political groups. Don McGahn, a Republican FEC commissioner, said an investigator from his agency contacted Lois Lerner, the IRS employee at the center of the political storm now engulfing that agency. He said the contact was made to discuss the status of one such
President Obama in Phoenix Tuesday will tout his administration´s housing fixes as the tonic that saved a real-estate market in free fall. In his latest economic speech, Obama also will outline his plan to lessen the influence of government-owned mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, break stagnant lending practices and make home ownership more obtainable for Americans being excluded from the slowly rebounding housing market. What he likely won´t mention, however, is that home ownership has dropped to an 18-year low -- 65 percent -- as lenders remain wary of opening up their purse strings and more Americans
He thought he was a woman trapped in a man’s body — but it turns out he’s “just another boring straight guy.” ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn. But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don. “I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said on Sunday there were “more effective ways” of ending Obamacare than defunding it, but he did not specify what those "more effective ways" were. Nor did Ryan´s office return calls from CNSNews.com asking him what he thought those more effective ways were. “You know, rather than sort of swinging for the fences and trying to take this entire law out with discretionary spending, I think there are more effective ways of achieving that goal,” Ryan said in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” Sen. Mike Lee (R.-Utah) has said that he will offer an
There are growing concerns that an al Qaeda affiliate could use a new generation of liquid explosive, currently undetectable, in a potential attack, according to two senior U.S. government officials briefed on the terror threat that has prompted the closing of nearly two dozen U.S. embassies. Though the Transportation Security Administration has long been concerned about liquid explosives being used in potential devices -- as it was during the failed Christmas Day bombing in 2009 -- the new tactic allows terrorists to dip ordinary clothing
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said Monday that the Obama administration is making the United States look "like a bunch of cowards" by closing 19 embassies amid intelligence reports about possible terrorist attacks. Gohmert, guest-hosting on Sean Hannity´s radio program Monday, said the administration failed to learn from last year´s deadly attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans. "We don´t want any more people to die," Gohmert said in response to a caller´s question. "But it brings us back to the question that [then-Secretary of State] Hillary Clinton asked, what difference does
Attorney General Eric Holder has racked up more than $4.2 million in travel expenses over four years, including $697,525 in taxpayer-provided personal trips to resort areas like Martha´s Vineyard and Atlantic City, according to documents provided to the watchdog group Judicial Watch. The records from Justice and provided to Secrets show that Holder, who is required to travel on government aircraft because of security, submitted bills of $16,452.50 to speak at Al Sharpton´s National Action Network on New York in April 2011, $38,108.18 in expenses to address the pro-immigration reform group LULAC
NBC 5 Investigates has learned the accused Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan receives extraordinary treatment in jail while victims of the attack argue they have been forgotten and mistreated by the U.S. Army. While a prisoner awaiting trial, Hasan is ferried by helicopter nearly every day, complete with an additional helicopter escort and security detail, for the 20-mile journey between the Bell County Jail and Fort Hood, courtesy of the United States Army and American taxpayers. The Army told NBC 5 Investigates the daily helicopter rides are necessary because the jail does not have the proper facilities
In 2008 and then again in 2012, after retired four-star General Colin Powell endorsed and then voted for Barack Obama, the former Secretary of State´s sanity was already in question. At least now, after having his email account hacked by high-level security-breacher Guccifer, Colin Powell´s besmirching of the Republican Party´s "shift to the right" and "identity crisis" finally makes sense. It seems that for years the mannerly and always professional Colin Powell has been cyber-comporting with a 46-year-old Romanian European Parliament member, Social Democrat, and past spokesperson for Romanian president Ion Iliescu named Corina Cretu
Conservatives have for years attempted to put our finger upon precisely why Barack Obama strikes us as queer in precisely the way he does. There is an alienness about him, which in the fever swamps is expressed in all that ridiculous Kenyan-Muslim hokum, but his citizen-of-the-world shtick is strictly sophomore year — the great globalist does not even speak a foreign language. Obama has been called many things — radical, socialist — labels that may have him dead to rights at the phylum level but not down at his genus or species. His social circle includes
For nearly a year, we have had no answer to why the administration lied about Benghazi — why it told the world, not to mention the parents of our murdered SEALs at the funeral of their sons, that the cause of that fatal conflagration was an anti-Islamic video no one saw, when the various arms of our executive branch (White House, State and intelligence) already knew, or strongly suspected, it was a terror attack orchestrated by al-Qaeda affiliates. You only have to read the now infamous talking points to know that. That this lie was deeply immoral is obvious.
Today, across Africa, Araby and Asia, from Nouakchott to Dhaka, the diplomatic facilities of the United States are closed. There’s a Tsarnaev out there, somewhere – could be the Mahgreb, the Levant, the Horn of Africa, the Indian sub-continent – who knows? So, as Richard Fernandez writes, “Shelter in place, this time globally.” Maybe it will work. Maybe by the end of the day there will be, unlike Benghazi a year on, men in custody. But if not? Daniel Pipes: Don’t know about you, but I find this pre-emptive cringing unworthy of a great country, even humiliating.
Common sense tells me that cops don´t need a Taser or a shotgun to subdue a 95-year-old man. When John Wrana was a young man, fit and strong and fighting in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps, did he ever think he´d end this way? Just a few weeks shy of his 96th birthday, in need of a walker to move about, cops coming through the door of his retirement home with a Taser and a shotgun.
Not only should President Obama cancel a bilateral summit with "schoolyard bully" Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Sunday on "Face the Nation," but considering the country granted asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, U.S. allies should try to move next month´s G-20 gathering from St. Petersburg. "President Putin´s behaving like a schoolyard bully, and in my experience, I´ve learned, unless you stand up to that bully, they ask for more and more and more," Schumer said. "He´s always going out of his way, President Putin is, to seem to poke us in
I have a suggestion. How about an exhibit on Tawana Brawley? If the purpose of the new National Museum of African American History and Culture at the Smithsonian is to remember racial controversies, as the proposed Trayvon exhibit seems to confirm, then how about an honest look at the phenomenon of hate crime hoaxes? Particular attention should be paid to the role of the media in both the Trayvon and Tawana materials. Unquestionably, the media stirred up racial animus, and these incidents both contributed to raising racial tensions.
Police shot and killed an armed teen in the South Bronx early today after the suspect opened fire and refused to drop his gun, police said. Two rookie cops heard shots fired near East 151st Street and Courtlandt Avenue around 3 a.m. and ran in the direction of fire, police said. The uniformed officers saw Shaaliver Douse, 14, of the South Bronx, chasing another person through the streets, according to cops. Douse, who was arrested in May on attempted murder charges for shooting a 15-year-old, fired at the man running on East 151st Street this morning, police said.
In an interview for The Guardian Weekend magazine, actor Matt Damon recently weighed in with his thoughts on how President Barack Obama has handled the scandals that have engulfed his administration since the spring. Damon, a vocal supporter of the president since his 2008 campaign for national office, said that Obama is overcompensating for his lack of military background with his tough response to controversies like how the government is responding to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. The actor said that Obama is allowing himself to “get bullied” and is acting as though is “manhood”
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus threatened to pull the group’s partnership with NBC and CNN for 2016 GOP presidential primary debates if the networks moved ahead with plans to air films on Hillary Clinton. “If they have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor,” Preibus said in a statement. In individual letters to CNN President Jeff Zucker and NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt,
Oprah Winfrey on Monday said the killings of Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till are the "same thing." This transpired during an interview with The Grio that aired on NBC´s Today show. OPRAH WINFREY: It´s so easy during this time: Trayvon Martin, Trayvon Martin parallel to Emmett Till, let me just tell you. In my mind, same thing. But you can, you can get stuck in that and not allow yourself to move forward and to see how far we´ve come. Really? Martin and Till are the same thing?
Michelle Obama took to Twitter on Sunday to send her husband an affectionate birthday message -- and a gentle ribbing about the US President´s graying hair. "Happy birthday, Barack! Your hair´s a little grayer, but I love you more than ever," Michelle Obama wrote on her official twitter account, @FLOTUS. The message was accompanied by an undated black and white photo of the Obamas as a young couple relaxing on a sofa. Barack Obama is spending his 52nd birthday weekend at Camp David, the rural Maryland retreat made available to US Presidents. He was to return
