Philly student's Romney
T-shirt likened to KKK sheet

Philadelphia Inquirer, by Jonathan Lai & Kristen A. Graham

A uniform-free “dress-down” day at Charles Carroll High School in Port Richmond turned into a public dressing down for a student who chose to wear a pink T-shirt supporting Mitt Romney for president. Samantha Pawlucy, a sophomore at Carroll High, said her geometry teacher publicly humiliated her by asking why she was wearing a Romney/Ryan T-shirt and going into the hallway to urge other teachers and students to mock her. “I was really embarrassed and shocked. I didn’t think she’d go in the hallway and scream to everyone,” Pawlucy said. “It wasn’t scary, but it felt weird.”

It defies logic, that anyone with a half intact medulla could actually believe this horse puckey - let alone admit it...out loud.

I don't care how much you hate republicans or Romney, this is just absurd.

A similar thing happened in 2004 when I sent young workers over to S-----s to pick up photocopied political handouts, 'wearing BUSH tee shirts.'

They came back and reported being made fun of by the staff ...... I reported it to the management, and called the 1-800# but don't think they took the complaint seriously.

Once I and a colleague were thrown out of a restaurant, sitting at a table, going over petitions we had been circulating in the neighborhood. ...... We were talking about how may signatures we had collected, when a man walking by asked whom were we supporting.

The owner rushed over and shouted 'Get Out!' ........ 'We don't serve Republicans 'here!'.

When I later called the city to find out 'if it were legal to deny service and threaten people' solely due to 'political affiliation', they laughed and said it wasn't covered by the City's code.

Both incidents were in Philadelphia ....... I just wrote them off as they did not involve real violence, [which we do have here, especially Election Day, as Rs in a D city.

......... unfortunately just 'fortunes of a l-o-n-g l-o-n-g war ... but we don't give up .... and keep up the fight.

Samantha Pawlucy The teacher then allegedly called a non-teaching assistant into the room who tried to write on the t-shirt with a marker. She allegedly told to remove her shirt and she would be given another one.

During the incident, Samantha Pawlucy said the teacher told her that Carroll High is a “Democratic school” and wearing a Republican shirt is akin to the teacher, who is black, wearing a KKK shirt.

The teacher could not be teached to comment. Fernando Gallard, district spokesman said an investigation is ongoing. He said the student had the right to wear the t-shirt.

The teacher and the teacher's aide should be summarily fired.

This is the type of school administration stupidity that eventually ends up getting a school district sued. Ultimately, the taxpayers of that district have to make up that money through higher property taxes. That teacher should be fired for gross incompetence.

If it were possible, I wouldn't PAY a dime to support them, when even the teachers are so ignorant that they think the Klan was a Republican thing. Republicans were the TARGET of the Democrat terrorist organization, the Klan, along with Blacks.

Harry Reid effectively owns the U.S. Senate. Democrats and Republicans have long debated how Reid managed to get such a tight grip on the upper chamber. But there is no debating this much: Nothing happens on the floor, or in committee, without the Nevada Democrat´s approval. Most important Senate legislation is written in Reid’s office and sent directly to the floor for a vote on final passage, sidelining committee chairmen who historically have functioned as an influential and quasi-independent force. In the past, a bill would not go to the floor before a series of votes and amendments in whatever

Falling ice from One World Trade Center led to the closure of nearby streets, the PATH station and a memorial pool Friday morning. Port Authority workers closed the main entrance to the World Trade Center station about 8:45 a.m. after ice began plummeting more than 1000 feet off the nearly-completed building, officials said. Service to Newark and Hoboken was suspended. The tower´s distinctive design made matters worse, witnesses said. The building’s sloping corners functioned like a ski jump for falling ice. With some fanfare, including an approving statement from former smoker Barack Obama, CVS said it would forgo the estimated $2bn annual revenue from tobacco products, saying it was incompatible with its healthcare role. Which is great, because cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the US. It kills 480,000 people a year. However some researchers say that obesity is overtaking cigarette smoking as the leading cause of preventable death. Others say it has already. What do you have to say about that,

This is either a glaring admission of defeat from the White House or… no, that’s really all it could be. After weeks of defending the cancellation of health plans insurers discontinued in 2013 in order to comply with the Affordable Care Act’s coverage mandates, the White House announced in November of last year that it was urging insurers to reinstate those plans. The catch was, of course, that most insurers would be unable to turn on a dime and reinstate those plans.
