Philly student's Romney
T-shirt likened to KKK sheet

Philadelphia Inquirer, by Jonathan Lai & Kristen A. Graham

A uniform-free “dress-down” day at Charles Carroll High School in Port Richmond turned into a public dressing down for a student who chose to wear a pink T-shirt supporting Mitt Romney for president. Samantha Pawlucy, a sophomore at Carroll High, said her geometry teacher publicly humiliated her by asking why she was wearing a Romney/Ryan T-shirt and going into the hallway to urge other teachers and students to mock her. “I was really embarrassed and shocked. I didn’t think she’d go in the hallway and scream to everyone,” Pawlucy said. “It wasn’t scary, but it felt weird.”

It defies logic, that anyone with a half intact medulla could actually believe this horse puckey - let alone admit it...out loud.

I don't care how much you hate republicans or Romney, this is just absurd.

A similar thing happened in 2004 when I sent young workers over to S-----s to pick up photocopied political handouts, 'wearing BUSH tee shirts.'

They came back and reported being made fun of by the staff ...... I reported it to the management, and called the 1-800# but don't think they took the complaint seriously.

NOTE
Once I and a colleague were thrown out of a restaurant, sitting at a table, going over petitions we had been circulating in the neighborhood. ...... We were talking about how may signatures we had collected, when a man walking by asked whom were we supporting.

The owner rushed over and shouted 'Get Out!' ........ 'We don't serve Republicans 'here!'.

When I later called the city to find out 'if it were legal to deny service and threaten people' solely due to 'political affiliation', they laughed and said it wasn't covered by the City's code.

Both incidents were in Philadelphia ....... I just wrote them off as they did not involve real violence, [which we do have here, especially Election Day, as Rs in a D city.

......... unfortunately just 'fortunes of a l-o-n-g l-o-n-g war ... but we don't give up .... and keep up the fight.

Samantha Pawlucy The teacher then allegedly called a non-teaching assistant into the room who tried to write on the t-shirt with a marker. She allegedly told to remove her shirt and she would be given another one.

During the incident, Samantha Pawlucy said the teacher told her that Carroll High is a “Democratic school” and wearing a Republican shirt is akin to the teacher, who is black, wearing a KKK shirt.

The teacher could not be teached to comment. Fernando Gallard, district spokesman said an investigation is ongoing. He said the student had the right to wear the t-shirt.

The teacher and the teacher's aide should be summarily fired.

This is the type of school administration stupidity that eventually ends up getting a school district sued. Ultimately, the taxpayers of that district have to make up that money through higher property taxes. That teacher should be fired for gross incompetence.

Gee, that's funny... I thought conservatives were forced to pay taxes for publik skools, as well. When did they become "Democratic schools” on my dime? If it were possible, I wouldn't PAY a dime to support them, when even the teachers are so ignorant that they think the Klan was a Republican thing. Republicans were the TARGET of the Democrat terrorist organization, the Klan, along with Blacks.

Following Tuesday´s special election victory, Democrat Robin Kelly will start a new job in Congress as the least senior member of a House dominated by Republicans. That political reality is not lost on Kelly, who said her first task is to restore district offices and concentrate on constituent services as she replaces disgraced former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. in the South Side and south suburban 2nd Congressional District. "Yes, we´ve seen some tough times and some setbacks. I know for some of you, your faith in your leaders is a little shaken,"

Actually, she is backing off. Here’s the thing about her now-famous MSNBC promo: Either she’s saying something radical or she’s saying something so banal that it’s barely even worth saying. The radical interpretation is that she thinks parents should have less say over how their children are raised and that “communities” should have a larger role. The very, very banal interpretation is that she thinks communities should do more to improve children’s lives and that thinking of them as “our children” might help forge that mentality. The money line in the promo that pointed to the radical interpretation

Richard Pollack at the Washington Examiner reports on a painless way to handle sequester costs -- cut out the unnecessary duplicative federal programs: Duplicative drug abuse and treatment services are strewn over 76 federal programs. Housing services are spread across 20 different agencies. Renewable energy projects go through 23 federal agencies and 130 sub-agencies. Even federal catfish inspections are done by three different agencies. These are only a few of 162 examples identified by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, a congressional watchdog agency, of fragmented, duplicative federal programs and services.

WASHINGTON- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says he wants U.S. military law changed so senior commanders can´t overturn courts-martial verdicts in major crimes such as rape. Hagel said the Pentagon´s top lawyers would prepare legislation for Congress that would strip commanders´ power to toss out convictions, "except for certain minor offenses that would not ordinarily warrant trial by court-martial." Convicted defendants still would be able to appeal their cases. But in a move berated by advocacy groups for military sexual-assault victims, Hagel also said he would recommend commanders retain the power to alter courts-martial sentences,

If presidential politics ever involved time travel, President Obama might be in a little trouble. If an election between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were held today, 58% would vote for Reagan over Obama, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. Though when the field is narrowed to people ages 18-34 -- those either too young to have known Reagan as president or too young to remember much -- the gap shrinks to 51% in favor of Reagan.

Mitch McConnell and some consultants disparaging Ashley Judd is not news. It´s the sausage being made. We´ve got full background here, but the toplines are this: Corn got hold of a conversation apparently recorded during a presentation by consultants to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell´s reelection campaign. The consultants were opposition researchers, hired by the campaign to ferret out damaging information about actress Ashley Judd, who at one point considered running against McConnell.
