| Over the past month I worried that Mitt Romney was another GOP loser of a presidential candidate in the line of Bob Dole and John McCain. Dole and McCain are great Americans who have made profound personal sacrifices for our freedom, but as presidential candidates they were palookas. I wondered whether Romney was this year’s Republican bum of the month served up to lose honorably to the Democrats’ heavyweight champion. The answer Romney provided last night in the debate with President Obama (transcript here) was something like the great negation of Nathaniel Hawthorne saluted by Herman Melville

I wasn't worried about Mitt Romney. I was worried that the media was going to be convincing enough that we should be worried about Romney, if that makes sense.

The ONLY reason some people had the same "worry" as Scott Johnson was BECAUSE of people like Johnson, "bum of the month"? Pundits who are so close to the forest they can't see the trees are the problem. Johnson sounds like an over-educated pinhead who wants demonrat approval! Hawthorne? Melville? Puhleeze! Anyone who has seriously been watching Mitt Romney for months, knew exactly what he was going to do to obama when the debate came up. Romney/Ryan, 2012! Yay!

Scott Johnson and Power Line have been whining and crying about the polls and how Romney's not getting it done. I've been seriously disgusted with their inability to see beyond the leftist/elitist spin.
The polls are cooked. The media has effectively put a black tarp over Romney unless they can twist something into a "gaffe". And then they pile on with their pearl clutching. It's been disheartening and pathetic.
There, Scott Johnson. I hope you felt that virtual kick in the shins.

I wonder whether Obama wants another four years. Ex-presidents get millions, are still "Mr. President" and give up little in terms of perks. If the guy wants to play golf as the President, he can do just as well as a former. I expect Augusta National to call the day after he leave office...why not sooner than later?

I think many conservatives are worried that Mitt would be too mild compared to Alinski-inspired Obama. I don't think Scott Johnson is being too hard on Mitt. In fact, by going through a fairly bruising primary process, the Republican candidate is likely going to get a lot more vetting than the sole Democratic Party candidate and I think this translate to a candidate who is less prepared to deal with scrutiny on his current administration's policies' failures. But then again, like one of Romney's strategists said, Obama had a good debate but he had 4 lousy years.

I have been fed up with lace pantied PowerLine Hinderaker and Johnson for some time now.
Although he gets into his oh-so-clever Rocky bit, Johnson leaves bodies along the way, calling Republican candidates "palookas" and Romney "the Republican bum of the month". And even with Rocky, he reminds that Rocky lost.

Johnson points out that "Barack Obama is a big-time bs artist." True, but not a skilled one. He was being pinned down on the issues and had no idea how to talk his way out of it.
BTW, it's my opinion that some Ldotters are being too hard on Scott Johnson. He didn't say Romney was Palooka of the Month. He said he had worried that Romney might be. Last night Romney finally came out swinging and showed his intelligence and fighting spirit after a month of being Mr. Nice Guy. Mitt can think on his feet. Obama seems to have trouble without a teleprompter. It was refreshing to see Mitt kick Zero's butt.

I think BO's performance last night was exactly in line with his personal trajectory through life. I wonder how old he was when he realized that all he would have to do is show up, vote "present" in other words, and Dem-world would do the rest? Before or after the choom-gang days?
I'll bet that all the reasons for hiding his citizen and education records are related to his being a lazy person who always took the easy way out with the willing help of Dem-world.
They all said he was the greatest. All their allies believed he was the greatest. BO believed he was the greatest.
And soon, Dem-world and their supporters in the media will find a spin to suggest that Romney's drubbing of BO either didn't happen or is racist, and the fairy tale will continue.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.
