| In the wake of his miserable debate performance last night, what does Obama do now? I mean, besides smoking a whole pack of cigarettes when he got back to his Denver hotel suite. One option would be to actually prepare for the next debate, instead of spending 3 days at a luxury resort and taking sightseeing trips to Hoover Dam. But does Obama know how to buckle down and really work? He already complained that debate prep was no fun, and that level of sacrifice of fun proved to be wholly inadequate.

#2 is correct. The Obama machine -- the media whores, online whores, and touchy-feely morning shows will be told to smear Romney even more. There will be rumors spreading about Romney that will take one or two news cycles to correct, putting Romney off balance. And you can bet that the next debate's moderators will be briefed by the White House, and also, on their own, the moderators don't want to be criticized the way Lehrer was. The Democrats will be out for blood for the next debate.

Obambi places his hopes on Biden and the VP debate to make him look competent again. Despite all the Kneepad Media spin and attack dog ads that we know are coming, voting Americans saw a president and a quota last night and that is the impression that means the most. IF Ryan can bury Dimwit Joe and his expected vicious attacks, then the next two debates will be a killer fr Obambi. Stack the deck, allow the dead (and illegals) to vote, promise ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, smear like mad, lie, pack the crowd at the Town Hall debate with ringers, ignore the WARN ACT (which is LAW) re: notices within 60 days to potential lay offs in the military industry, not actually report on Libya and the 13 requests for more protection, and above all, keep that crinkle eyed, gum-showing grin as he meets those voters he so loves.....at least until he leaves the stage.

The problem with putting the focus on Biden or BJ Clintoon or any other surrogate is that they eventually explode and make things worse. The dems have NO good and safe speakers. BO is the best they have and that tells you something in itself.
Of course the media will smear. They will look for the smallest discrepancy in anything Romney said and blow it up into lies and stupidity. Several liberal articles report the story carefully filling in the attacks they wanted BO to make on Romney and explaining away BO's pitiable performance. They are surrogate debaters for BO.
But the problem is, the voters have now seen Romney for themselves in direct comparison to BO. My guess is that most came away with a better opinion of Romney and a worse one of BO. Media smears aren't going to change that. The genie is out of the bottle. The smears will do more damage to a disreputable media than they will to Romney.

It´s one thing for President Obama to be cocky and overstate his prowess at governing. People are used to politicians grabbing credit, and besides, you can always rationalize when it comes to explaining why things didn´t quite work out as you claimed they would - "the sequester ate my recovery" being the latest successful-enough example. But sports is something else. The basketball either goes through the hoop or it doesn´t. That´s why President Obama´s history of braggadocio regarding his prowess at hoops is having a potent effect on his overall public image, especially with those who are favorably inclined to him.

Over at Salon, Chris Stedman, the Assistant Humanist Chaplain and the Values in Action Coordinator for the Humanist Community at Harvard, has published a vicious piece attacking me for calling attention to the persecution of gays under Islamic law. This comes just days after San Francisco´s Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution condemning my ads standing up for gays. Stedman and the transgender head of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, Theresa Sparks, could form a new organization: Gays for Sharia.

During his two day flurry of fundraising in Northern California, the President of the United States took it upon himself (and allow to be released to the public - not all of his fundraising comments make it to the masses) to praise the attractiveness of Kamala Harris, California Attorney General (snip) The remark, predictably, generated a little of what Allahpundit called a ´Blue on blue food fight." I suspect that was the intention. The president´s image as a manly man took a beating when he missed 20 of 22 basketball shots, all recorded on video.

The CEO of Starbucks basically told a shareholder that if the shareholder believes in traditional marriage he should dump his Starbucks stock. Historically the job of the CEO has been to make money and increase shareholder value. It would seem telling people who don´t share the CEO´s personal beliefs, whether it´s gay marriage or abortion, to dump the companies stock is not a pro-shareholder action. This is another example of the liberal belief that everything belongs to liberals because they´re just so darn much smarter than the rest of us

The Great State of Indiana is about to test statewide school choice on a meaningful scale. In the girl section of the Wall Street Journal last weekend Matt Ridley had an article on nice vs. nasty, cooperation vs. competition. Researchers have found, he writes, that families that stay together cooperate better than families that are far apart. This is not the first work to find mathematical evidence that there are conditions under which cooperative behavior drives out selfish behavior... So long as there is little geographic mobility, clusters of networked kin and friends develop, putting an advantage on being nice. Who knew?

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.
