You can only elect the first black President once. In 2008 people felt sorry for him and voted for him. Now they feel sorry for themselves.

I was in The Salt Lake City Airport during the debate, and it was eerie! When Mitt was speaking people were clustered around the televisions.

When Our Dear Reader was pontificating, people would drift along the concourse, until they saw the Mitt was speaking again, and everyone would stop. Even people just getting off the planes would stop and watch.

Obama was the Admiral Stockdale of the debate.

He looked like the Deer Leader in the headlights last night.

Now maybe people will see what all of us have seen since he first started this song and dance 5 years ago. Empty suit--ergo empty chair--ergo empty podium!

Last night's debate just might be the first time in Barack Obama's entire life that he faced a serious one-on-one challenge from a competent and determined adversary. He probably has never been so much on the spot and obliged to explain and defend himself without being able to use his customary bag of cheap rhetorical tricks.

He has been tried - and he has been found wanting. The good news is that he has finally been exposed for what he is. The bad news is that it took as long as it did, and he got as far as he got, i.e. into the Oval Office, before it happened.

Way to go, Mitt! You surpassed the wildest hopes some of us had for the debate; you relieved us of our deepening anxiety that you just might not have the Right Stuff.

Now we can breathe again. Now all that is required is -in the words of the great American cavalry commander N.B. Forrest- is to keep the skeer on. Don't stop. don't pause, don't let them rest for a second but stay on their trail hot and heavy right to the finish.

Zippy learned last night that he really isn't "the smartest man in the room". And did you notice that when he said he had 5 more seconds, he went on for a minute and a half. Leher interrupted Romney but gave Zippy all the time he needed. Tallying the minutes, Romney got several less than Zippy, but crammed more actual facts and no platitudes into that time. Zippy spoke in circles, tried that old lame talking points and seemed to lose his own point when speaking. Head to head, with not teleprompter, Zippy is bringing a knife to a gun fight. As Herman Cain once said, last night "A grown up has shown up!"

C'mon, Bill. All his life -- all his life -- his brown presence was indeed all he needed to bring. He never had to meet a performance standard, or achieve on merit. Like baseball, he really has no sense of what all that means.

I can tell Romney won by the lack of coverage from the MSM.

They're trying to move along as if nothing happened. Just like everything else about this presidency.

Someone at work this morning commented that he must have had too much on his mind to concentrate on the debate and that he is really too busy with affairs of state to do a good job. I asked if that was the case, why was he doing another campaign event in Denver this morning instead of taking care of "affairs of state"? I got a blank stare with that one.
