I'd love to hear Romney close tonight with:"Ladies and Gentlemen, America, thank you for the opportunity to speak with you tonight. You have heard two vastly different approaches to regaining prosperity in this great nation, I hope you will consider the facts, and conclude that my vision is the path we need to take. Should you give me the honor of being your President for the next four years, I can promise one additional thing, I will NOT spend the next four years blaming the the guy before me. Thank you, God bless you and yours...goodnight.
Okay LDotters, depending on you guys to tell me how it's going. The truth is, I cannot bear to lay my eyes on the Empty Chair. I was born and raised in NJ and now am stuck in DE, haven't I suffered enough?!
I can't bear to watch...Obama turns my stomach. Convinced he's been fed the questions ahead of time, and praying that Romney makes mincemeat of him, but know the MSM is going to declare an Obama victory, regardless. Depending on my fellow Ldotters to keep me up to speed.
Yes, thank you to the wonderful Ldot site for this thread. And for the unbelievable effort required to present and administer this site. The debate threads are better than the debates. There are many really smart people who post on this site. Being it on posters!
Wonder how many voters realized Romney is slightly taller than zero...didn't hurt that one of the nets showed the full blown presidential looking Romney motorcade...small things, but rain drops make the storm...Romney of to a good start, good modulation...
Romney gave an excellent answer. Trickle down government !! Great line. Obama looks more nervous than Romney and he is over rehearsed , vomiting out a jumble of statistics and programs that don't answer the questions.
I am seeing the difference between wise business experience and one who is talking the points given to him by a staff. I see someone who has worked at business and one who has no personal experience running a business.
Maybe I'm too cynical and am just expecting to be led down a primrose path...but it just seems that Romney is trouncing BO time after time...and BO is gettin testy, bitchy, snarky...all the traits that everyone LOVES so much about him. Go Mitt Go!
Dear Lord, thank you for my many blessings. Please bless Romney tonight. Please give him your guidance and inspiration. Please allow him to talk clearly and directly to the world and show how hussein's policies are destroying America, killing innocents, encouraging dependence and terrorists, punishing hard work and success, and moving us closer to Sodom. Please open the eyes of the liberals so that they see hussein is bad for the world. And, please forgive me for my sins. Amen.
BIG Holy Spirit- led, unified prayer meeting today. We were hooked into a nationwide teleconference call from Ft. Worth, TX. We are believing God to anoint ears of all hearers - that they hear and understand THE TRUTH No matter what is spoken. Prayer is working. O is rattled and rambling. Mitt, continue to stay in charge.
Mitt is doing great. Obama keeps repeating the same lies even after Romney told him that he has never said that. I love the way Romney did a couple of "There you go again" type responses!! No, Obama is not winning unless you believe someone who keeps repeating lies over and over again even after he has been corrected several times. Thanks for the thread, Ms. Lucianne!!
(Article leads with chart) A Gallup poll conducted last month provides a powerful tribute to the wonders of Fox News. Gallup posed a wide-open question to more than 2,000 adults across the country: “Thinking about various sources of news available today, what would you say is your main source of news about current events in the U.S. and around the world?”The winner was “television” as a basket category, at 26 percent. The “Internet” took second place with 18 percent. And then came Fox News, at 8 percent.
“If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything.” -Mark Twain - It’s become clear to us that Ambassador Stevens was someone who cared deeply about his work to promote American diplomacy in Libya. He was one of four heroes who perished on September 11th, 2012 in the Benghazi attack.Stevens’ diary has never been made public, until now. It was first discovered and reported on, in brief, by CNN, but the news network soon caved in to outside pressure, most likely from President Obama’s staff, and ceased reporting on it all together.
Reacting to the news that the administration’s National Security Agency has been collecting the phone records of every American customer of at least one telephone service provider, the New York Times minced no words in a scathing editorial criticizing the practice and the lack of forthrightness from the White House. “The administration has now lost all credibility,” the Times editorial read. “Mr. Obama is proving the truism that the executive will use any power it is given and very likely abuse it.”
Credible sources indicate that the president of the United States watched in real time what might well be called the Benghazi snuff film.Among those sources is retired Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer. At the time of the assault, Shaffer relates, two U.S. drones were hovering to the consulate and recorded the final hours of the attack, which killed U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other brave Americans (From LCom Archive originally published November ´12)
The murderer is the new celebrity. He emerges out of nowhere with a rags to mass murder story, and is swiftly accorded all the trappings of fame. Reporters track down anyone who knew him to learn about his childhood and his main influences. Relatives and friends both contribute fuzzy anecdotes, mostly indistinguishable from the ones they would present if he were competing on American Idol or running for president.
He is known only as "Baby Boy B," a fetus estimated to be 28 weeks old, found frozen in an altered one-gallon plastic water jug in Dr. Kermit Gosnell´s West Philadelphia abortion clinic. His passing went unnoticed and undocumented, but on Monday, prosecution and defense lawyers struggled to get Philadelphia´s chief medical examiner to say whether he was stillborn or killed by Gosnell after being born alive during an abortion.
I’ve been writing about media coverage of abortion for many years. And so have many others. If you haven’t read David Shaw’s “Abortion Bias Seeps Into The News,” published in the Los Angeles Times back in 1990, you should. That report also explains why we cover the topic here at GetReligion. But the thing is that I’m getting kind of sick of pointing out egregious bias only to see things not just remain bad but get worse. Just think, in the last year, we saw the media drop any pretense of objectivity and bully the Susan G. Komen Foundation
There is a fine and often unspoken line of trust between journalists and their sources, which often takes months, if not years, to establish. Break that line with one source and you’ll face an uphill battle the next time you want to establish confidential rapport with another. But what happens when the trade off is jail time? It’s a dilemma Fox News reporter Jana Winter is facing right now, provided she refuses to reveal her sources.
A new Foreign Military Intelligence (GRU) report circulating in the Kremlin today is saying that United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton [photo 2nd right] was injured, and a top US Navy Seal Commander killed when their C-12 Huron military passenger and transport aircraft crash landed nearly 3 weeks ago in the Iranian city of Ahvaz near the Iraqi border.Iranian intelligence agents quoted in this GRU report confirm that the C-12 Huron aircraft is still in their possession in Ahvaz, but will only admit that the plane was “forced to land because of technical problems”.
It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Temperatures in the Arctic region of Alaska are warming twice as fast as the rest of the U.S, causing ice to retreat, sea levels to rise and coastal erosion to increase. Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
I never thought the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case deserved nearly the attention it got. But reasonable people can disagree about that. What strikes me as unconscionable, however, is the way the supposedly objective media have not only sensationalized a tragedy but at times appear to deliberately bend the facts to fit a desired story line. Maybe it started with the use of pictures of a younger Martin or with the sudden embrace of the term "white Hispanic" to describe Zimmerman in order to more easily paint him as a racist. NBC News was the most egregious offender
No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all. But even more surprising, while the former vice presidential candidate has made Alaska a central part of her public image, the state´s residents split on the question of whether Palin is all that Alaskan. Conducted by Public Policy Polling,
In her first speech since taking over the Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy came out swinging Tuesday and promised to ramp up the aggressive climate change agenda laid out by President Obama.(snip)“Can we stop talking about environmental regulations killing jobs? Please, at least for today,” she said during remarks at Harvard Law School. “We need to cut carbon pollution to grow jobs. We need to cut carbon pollution to strengthen the economy. Let’s talk about it positively. Let’s approach this as an opportunity of a lifetime. There are too many lifetimes at stake.”
