President Barack Obama appointed Cheryl Saban, wife of the owner of Univision, as U.S. representative to the United Nations, according to reports from various news blogs. According to the Politico blog, Haim Saban, owner of the television network, backed Hillary Clinton in 2008, but during the summer donated $1 million to groups supporting the campaigns of Democrats. And according to another blog in Spanish of Yahoo, the appointment of Cheryl Saban to the diplomatic post was made last Wednesday, the day before Obama appeared at a forum at the University of Miami hosted by Univision.

But Univision is still going after 0bama policies and the Fast and Furious. Doesn't look like the bribe worked.

Amazing or what?
Univision is the last of the media to ask hard questions about Obama and the 100s of 'gunwalked' deaths in Mexico.

Obama's solution is just to buy them off.

Some years ago, while in Merida in the Yucatan, I became acquainted with the American wife of a Mexican multimillionaire. She confided in me about his "other women", that she knew whenever he hooked up with a new one because the jeweler would arrive at their villa with trays of diamonds and other precious stones. For her to choose whatever she wished.

Saban buys his wife this patronage position.

Ironically billionaire Jerry Perenchio, the co-founder of Univision who sold his interest to Saban for $13.7 billion, was one of the heaviest contributors to Republican candidates and PACs - most recently to Mitt Romney's campaign.

Univision is an American channel for Spanish-speaking people.

And here is Cheryl Saban's rather colorful bio. She is now a PhD, a psychologist, a philanthropist, an author of a number of books.

Singer Beyonce and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter traveled to Cuba “pursuant to an educational exchange trip” organized by an authorized company, the U.S. Treasury Department said in response to inquiries from Florida lawmakers. The trip by the celebrity couple spurred widespread media coverage after two U.S. representatives from Florida, Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, asked the Treasury who approved the travel and for what purpose. U.S. law prohibits financial transactions for tourist activities in Cuba to prevent funding of the government, which controls the industry. The Treasury permits visits for educational reasons.
