CNN and WaPo reporters seem to have no difficulty touring the ruined remains of the U.S. Embassy - but our State Department and other official agencies are afraid to venture near the place. It is too dangerous there for the FBI but not, it seems, for U.S. journalists, who are a more courageous lot than I thought. It is also to the great credit of CNN and the WaPo that they are informing Americans of their findings. It is the only way we will find out what happened. No rational adult would trust this administration or the State Department to tell the truth, regardless of how many internal investigations there are or how long they are dragged out.

CNN and WaPo made it to the compound and picked up documents. Did their cameras and press credentials scare off al-Qaeda? Is this what the FBI waiting for? A camera-crew escort?

The killings of the US ambassador to Libya and three of his staff were likely to have been the result of a serious and continuing security breach, The Independent can reveal.

American officials believe the attack was planned, but Chris Stevens had been back in the country only a short while and the details of his visit to Benghazi, where he and his staff died, were meant to be confidential.

The US administration is now facing a crisis in Libya. Sensitive documents have gone missing from the consulate in Benghazi and the supposedly secret location of the "safe house" in the city, where the staff had retreated, came under sustained mortar attack. Other such refuges across the country are no longer deemed "safe".

Some of the missing papers from the consulate are said to list names of Libyans who are working with Americans, putting them potentially at risk from extremist groups, while some of the other documents are said to relate to oil contracts.

According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.

Ambassador Stevens had just returned there from a visit to Germany, Austria and Sweden.

PS. The Obit administration was denying this long after September 14.

Maybe Valerie Jarrett can give up her guards so they can go to Libya and get our documents.

And on that subject - since when are we taxpayers supposed to provide multiple people to protect a slumlord who happened to worm her way in to the WH?

Weeks later and Obama is still lying about this debacle.

Hillary has promised a full and thorough investigation. It may take time, though. You know how it is. Pics to photoshop, docs to shred, inflammatory videos to film, guns to run to Mexico oops sorry, getting my treason situations all tangled up in the nest of vipers.

This reminds me of the story about parents who need to take a business trip and leave the kids at home under the care of the "responsible" oldest kid. The kids take the family BMW out for a party on the town and when they get home in the morning it badly damaged by a wreck and a small fire. They try to fix the situation by leaving it on the street in a bad part of town and hope it gets stolen. If they can just wait long enough, all the papers will be stolen and any remaining evidence destroyed by a fire.

Obama left the MOST sensitive document behind
the first day he took over as President, The U>S> Constitution. Unfortunately a butt kissing Congress has not taken him to task
and the DOJ is in his hip pocket. There is nothing left to do but vote against him.

This is the ultimate freedom of information act: Bomb the building and take whatever documents you want. Is this any way to run things? I know I am preaching to the choir, but come on!

Can't help but think that this was just a way for oFraud and Hilary to pass classified secrets to whomever without them eventually being exposed as traitors. And to them, sacrificing 4 Americans just would serve to make it look more realistic; and certainly wouldn't cause them any care, concern, or regret.

The more that 0bama lies & his administration obfuscates as to what really happened, I begin to believe that sadly, Ambassador Stevens was set up to be murdered by Al Qaeda, but with the assistance of our State Department [Hillary Clinton] at the very least. Why?

First, if 0bama is too afraid to move a bunch of Marines in immediately to take back & salvage our Embassy, which is suppose to be sovereign territory, and its classified documents left behind, then he must be working somehow with the EVIL Muslim presence in the world that looks to destroy US & Israel. When we sent the Marines to kill Osama, they had to take the time to destroy the classified helicopter that was left behind. It makes no sense that the State Department does not see the urgency to do the same with whatever is strewn about the compound in Benghazi.

This is not an FBI matter, but rather an act of war that needs US to go back and bloody the animals' noses who killed our unarmed people. With the threat of an attack on Iran by Israel at any time, I wonder how much info from intel left there could hurt this mission.

I fear first for Israel & then US in the days ahead. Especially since our conservative talking heads continue to waste our time and attention on the useless discussion of racism, which 0bama throws at the GOP machine as ''red meat'' to distract from our real dangers, the Muslim terrorist organizations hell bent on our destruction. And, if the Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt does get our $500M ''front'' money to support them, the ''Four Horseman of the Apocalypse'' may finally be let loose beginning in the Middle East.

Oh great, just like any other crime scene, eh??

Don't forget, PIAPS, in her finest southern drawl, has promised not to rest until she gets to the bottom of this.....waiting....crickets...

The intrepid WaPo reporter is a little tardy with his outrage. Per the Independent [UK] exclusive quoted at #3, the really sensitive classified documents were taken at or shortly after the time of the attack on the consulate.

Where was the WaPo's outrage while Nero was fiddling with blaming the video?

Once again, The Independent knew on 9/14 that the State Department had received at least 48 hours notice about both Cairo and Benghazi and had done absolutely nothing. Not even warned Ambassador Stevens and the senior staffs of both embassies. Also to be noted is that the ambassador to Egypt was on a four-day trip to Washington DC at the time of the attack on her embassy.

Why paper? Why not encrypted files that are deleted when tampering occurs. Also fill the hard disk with other encrypted files full of junk. Make 'em work for it.
Our embassies resemble our post offices.

Either someone wanted Stevens dead (Vince Foster, Ron Brown, et al) or doesn't want the truth about the incident to become public (TWA Flight 800). No one wants to go look because no one wants to find something that needs to be explained.

Destruction of documents is one of the primary duties of the Marines posted to our embassies.

The FBI does not have a mandate outside of the US so they must get permission from the Administration to do so. They must get visa's courtesy the State Department.
They must get permission from the host country to operate within that country's borders. If any of these things have not happened then they cannot go. I doubt if it is the FBI's fault that they are not there yet.

Here's the real concern of WaPo, in the third paragraph,
This complicates the Obama administration efforts "to respond to what has rapidly become a major foreign policy issue." ISSUE?
