| Following is the text of Barack Obama's keynote at the Call to Renewal's Building a Covenant for a New America conference in Washington, D.C., in 2006. Good morning. I appreciate the opportunity to speak here at the Call to Renewal's Building a Covenant for a New America conference. (Snip) So I'd like to congratulate you all on the thoughtful presentations you've given so far about poverty and justice in America, and for putting fire under the feet of the political leadership here in Washington. But today I'd like to talk about the connection between religion and politics

Comments:
Religion and politics. From a self-admitted Progressive, speaking to the Sojourners/Call to Renewal convention. He telegraphed his community activism then as he does now. In this speech, he tried to cloak himself in rather a lot of scripture, but his policies and programs are all there.
A highlight is his acknowledgement of Alan Keyes's statement: " Jesus Christ would not vote for Barack Obama."

How very odd.
There is no indication in the speech of what Jesus he adheres to. If it is the Jesus of the New Testament, there is no evidence of such a faith.
If he understands himself to be created, there is no hint.
If he comprehends that Matthew 5-7 tells him how to live, I find no reference.
Honesty? Not mentioned. Regard for the poor (individually): not mentioned. Obama does not give to the poor, even his poor half-brother.
Meekness of spirit? Hardly.
Peacemaker? This dude divides us up every day.
Just whose Jesus does he follow? There are many false Christs. We were warned.
You could look it up.
But then you would have to read the New Testament, which it does not appear Obama has done.

IMO, this speech proves Obama's devotion to the Church of Big Government:
... the black church understands in an intimate way the Biblical call to feed the hungry and cloth the naked and challenge powers and principalities. And in its historical struggles for freedom and the rights of man, I was able to see faith as more than just a comfort to the weary or a hedge against death, but rather as an active, palpable agent in the world. As a source of hope.
He's poured all his faith into the ability of Socialist Government to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. (Using the confiscated assets of the producers.)

Singer Beyonce and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter traveled to Cuba “pursuant to an educational exchange trip” organized by an authorized company, the U.S. Treasury Department said in response to inquiries from Florida lawmakers. The trip by the celebrity couple spurred widespread media coverage after two U.S. representatives from Florida, Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, asked the Treasury who approved the travel and for what purpose. U.S. law prohibits financial transactions for tourist activities in Cuba to prevent funding of the government, which controls the industry. The Treasury permits visits for educational reasons.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has permanently revoked the federal firearms license of East Windsor, Conn., gun store owner David LaGuercia, whose shop reportedly sold guns used in the Newtown school massacre and a second Connecticut mass shooting. ATF spokeswoman Deb Seifert told The Journal News on Thursday that she could not be more specific on the reasons LaGuercia’s license was revoked. An autopsy on Shain Gandee, a cast member of the MTV reality show Buckwild, showed he died of carbon monoxide poisoning, the Kanawha County sheriff’s department said yesterday. The deaths of Gandee, 21, his uncle David Gandee, 48, and friend Donald Robert Myers, 27, on Monday morning were ruled accidental after coroners completed the autopsies.(Snip) The truck was found after the MTV star was reported missing by family members after a late-night session in a local bar.

Spain´s Princess Cristina has been summoned to appear in court over allegations that her husband misused millions of euros of public money. It is reported to be the first court summons for a direct descendant of the Spanish king. She is King Juan Carlos´s youngest daughter. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
