| Mitt Romney softened his stance on one of President Obama's immigration directives allowing certain undocumented immigrant youth to stay in the U.S. legally. In an interview with The Denver Post Monday, Romney said he would not reverse an executive order issued by President Obama that would allow children of illegal immigrants to obtain a visa, permitting them to live and work in the U.S. legally for two years, if they meet certain criteria. "The people who have received the special visa that the president has put in place, which is a two-year visa, should expect that the visa

Comments: Romney just lost my vote for good. And most likely hundreds of thousands of others who consider out-of-control immigration to be the defining issue of our age.
At this stage of a campaign, at the very least a candidate should know who his supporters are. The cheap labor lobby may donate lots of cash, but they don't post lots of votes. Romney doesn't seem to have a clue who his voting base is.
I wish the open borders radicals luck with four more years of Obama. They'll need it.

Sorry that something from CBS could sway you so easily OP, a real Romney supporter would at least wait for a credible explanation.

I guess OP would much rather have another 4 years (which could turn into a lifetime position) of dictator Obama instead. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

This is exactly why Obama did this move... to try to paint Romney into a no-win corner. Seems like OP doesn't appreciate the bind this has put Romney in. I don't like it either, but letting Obama win is not a great way to stop the madness.

I'd say someone's clangers are defective. I wouldn't jump the gun on this considering the source. Plus at this point anyone claiming to be conservative and not voting for Romney is akin to a traitor, in my view.

So some kids get to keep their visas for a couple years. So what? This is small potatoes in the whole immigration mess. Sure, it was pure political pandering by Obama, and probably illegal to boot. And I was angry when he did it. But Romney's right. Just fix the whole thing and take care of this in the process. Get to it when we get to it. Solve the big problems rather than run around playing whack-a-mole with details.

It's less of a logistical headache to let them play out. He's not renewing them. OP if not for this you'd find some other reason to not vote for Romney. I've known your type since I was a kid.

Actually, Romney should have only one executive order during his presidency should he manage to win... And at is an EO that blanket overturns all of zippy's EOs.
Nothing more or less. And yes, I am unwilling to compromise.

The faster Obama destroys the country the better. A stacked Supreme court, completely open borders, healthcare nationalization, confiscatory taxation and institutionalized affirmative action where your children will be shut out of any real chance of a prosperous future.
I say if the GOP doesn't understand who its constituents are, then let the radicals who control the party have at it and when the smoke clears, we will, at the very least, never go down this path again.
I'm not going to contribute to the slow death of a Republic that my ancestors died fighting for. After 19 illegal aliens murdered thousands of our people, you would thing we'd wake up. And after the installation of a police state because of Muslim immigration, you'd think we'd wake up. And after an economic meltdown largely brought on by affirmative action lending to immigrants and their children, you'd think we'd wake up.
So I say, no one can sleep for that long, so it must be you really want Obama. Well now you've got him.

#8 I doubt it will collapse very fast under any conditions. The libs are boiling this frog slowly. The USSR took 70 years to finally collapse.
Personally, I am going to hold out hope for Romney and then possibly Ryan after that. If Obama wins, my life is too short to fight it any more. I have been saving/preparing for the possible disappointment and I will start to look for other countries to live in. The trajectory we're on is not a good one.

Yes, let's stick to perfection as being the bar for your vote -- you'll end up like the GOP in California, watching from the sidelines as things come crashing down and Democrats are reelected over and over again.
Jesus Christ is not running for President, and I think it's safe to say a Romney presidency would be much, much better for the country than an Obama presidency.
Rome wasn't built, destroyed, or rebuilt in a day (or a term).
Not voting for Romney = another vote for Obama. Think about that.

With all due respect CC, I want immigration enforcement as well, but this [reported] MR position is not in accord w/ his other statements on the subject.
Therefore, I'm inclined to wait and review the whole on this topic.
There is also a difference, imho, between a President who must be guided and kept honest by the will of the People, and a [self-styled] substance-abusing... kleptocrat ...who listens to no one and respects no law.

I cut the OP some slack. Someone being fed up with the entire political process is understandable. I'm voting for Romney while not being a "true Romney supporter" either. I'm a Conservative and Romney is more conservative than Obama. By his campaign conduct alone, including quotes that appear in the article, Romney appears to be slightly to the left of GW, whom I like but never considered even being close to Reagan's conservative ideological bent. Still, I hope he wins and has a largely conservative congress that can spend its time undoing Obama era legislation rather than layering on new.

You don't know what you're wishing for OP. Yes, illegal immigration is a major threat, but we've got a whole row of threats lined up to deal with.
It's nice to claim ideological perfection, but not voting for Romney will certainly help Obama. So do you want to risk your country's fiscal collapse, while you complain about something a MSM purveyor is pushing and we don't even know to be true?
A fiscal collapse won't be pretty. I hope you've got your wheelbarrow ready to carry your money around in, and have ample supplies, and a way to protect them when the hordes come after them.
Unless you're really on Obama's side, and trying to demoralize the rest of us.

As a legal immigrant and now an American citizen I am appalled by any slackness on illegal immigration. However, there is no way I would vote against Romney in this election, nor would I sit at home, not voting for either candidate.
I'm a little suspicious of a new poster who tries to discourage Ldotters from voting for the conservative candidate.
It's not going to work.

I've been posting here since '98. Brought here by lying POS Clinton and the destruction he wrought, including open borders and the national climate we now call political correctness.
F purity. There's no such thing. There is always a mix of good and bad policy. But willful intent to destroy a people, we the people that built this country, that is an entirely different matter. Destruction, chaos and poverty. That's precisely what the open borders radicals of the GOP have brought to our country and I say F-em.
No one in the GOP leadership wants to acknowledge what these scam artists have done. Fair enough, the GOP has been co-opted and it's their ball-game now.
But I say I will not contribute to this madness and have had enough.
Four more years should be just enough to get the party started.

Don' sweat this. Wrong battle at this time. If I were Mitt, I would say more and more and more and more to get the latino vote. I am not suggesting lying, but once in office, he can work on real immigration reform. And the idea we are going to round up 25 million plus people and deport them is stupid. They need to be made US citizens for the right party. Latinos are conservative by nature like African Americans used to be in some respect. See how the dems are courting latino votes with lies and abandoning blacks. The other side is playing super dirty. No time for macainisms. Support Mitt. I think he is smarter than he looks.

Grrrrr. Calm down, people. And if you can't calm down, then just shut up. Just because you get all cranked up that CBS News (a true paragon of truthful reporting!) would say that this is Romney's position, why would you believe it unless you saw Romney say it himself and in the proper context? Why would you immediately conclude "Romney lost my vote for good" and encourage other people to do the same? That is totally irresponsible. Clearly See-BS is living up to their name, and you are falling for it.

Slightly off topic but, re 'I doubt it will collapse very fast... The USSR took 70 years to finally collapse.'
We started wading into this pool nearly 80 years ago with the Social Security Act (1935). If you count the toe-dipping in the early 1900's, I'd say we're about to go under.

Romney could have deflected this question w/a 'we'll see' answer but chose to give an answer that angered his core base. Amazing how this aw shucks doofus instinctively grasps defeat from the jaws of victory. Of course his hear no evil waterboys are just jake w/responses like this. Principled conservatives warned in vain about this guy from day one, as a loser w/o any core, who would surround himself w/like minded wool heads from the calcified DC progressive R establishment; but we were told to buzz off as he was a shoo in. Really? So be it.

Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed ‘surprise and disappointment’ last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral. Whitehall sources have revealed that the U.S. delegation at tomorrow’s service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz. Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. Speculating on possible link,” Russert tweeted following the explosions.

President Obama pledged that the United States would punish anyone responsible for the explosions at the Boston Marathon today, but he said that “people shouldn’t jump to conclusions” about the tragedy. “We still do not know who did this or why and people shouldn’t jump to conclusions before they have all the facts,” Obama told reporters during a statement from the White House. “Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice,” he added. Two explosions occurred today near the finish line of the Boston Marathon,

President Barack Obama will deliver a statement Monday at 6:10 p.m. ET from the Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House. As seen in the photo, President Barack Obama spoke Monday on the phone with FBI Director Robert Mueller to receive an update on the Boston explosions. Seated with the President are Lisa Monaco, assistant to the president for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, and Chief of Staff Denis McDonough. A White House official said earlier the president has been notified of the explosions. "His administration is in contact with state and local authorities.

The impending introduction of legislation to overhaul the country’s badly strained immigration system received an extraordinary endorsement on Sunday from Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, who, after holding back for weeks, appeared on no fewer than seven television talk shows to explain and defend a plan that he said would be “a net positive for the country, now and in the future.” It was a striking show of confidence from Mr. Rubio, one of eight members of a bipartisan Senate group that has been crafting a plan to provide a path to legal status for undocumented immigrants;

Is media bias to blame for lack of Gosnell coverage? Or something far more banal? The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.

BOSTON -- The bombs that blew up seconds apart at the finish line of one of the world´s most storied races left the streets spattered with blood and glass, three dead, including an 8-year-old boy, more than 140 wounded and gaping questions of who chose to attack at the Boston Marathon and why. Federal investigators said no one had claimed responsibility for the bombings one of the city´s most famous civic holidays, Patriots Day. But the blasts among the throngs of spectators raised fears of a terrorist attack. President Barack Obama was careful not to use the

President Obama and I were college classmate at Columbia University, class of ’83. I know all too well how mindlessly liberal the students and faculty of that institution can be, and Barack Obama is certainly no exception. My time at Columbia made it crystal clear: liberals always believe they are morally superior. [Snip] It is in this cesspool of intolerance that Obama and his Marxist cronies hatched a secret plan to destroy our country. There are two things you need to know about Obama at Columbia University. First, he was Pre Law and a Political Science major- just like me.

He is known only as "Baby Boy B," a fetus estimated to be 28 weeks old, found frozen in an altered one-gallon plastic water jug in Dr. Kermit Gosnell´s West Philadelphia abortion clinic. His passing went unnoticed and undocumented, but on Monday, prosecution and defense lawyers struggled to get Philadelphia´s chief medical examiner to say whether he was stillborn or killed by Gosnell after being born alive during an abortion.
