| Maiduguri, Nigeria - Assailants shot and stabbed to death 27 students in the second attack near colleges in Nigeria's troubled northeast in the last few days, authorities said Tuesday. Danjuma Aiso, a student at Federal Polytechnic Mubi, a college in the town of Mubi in Adamawa State, said attackers invaded the student accommodation outside the campus between 10 p.m. Monday and 3 a.m. Tuesday. #1, that is a terrible way to look at life. It must be sad to be so cold-hearted. I care and many others do too. Nobody asks to be born there. And most of the people in the country are NOT "savages" ...only those who are tribalistic, corrupt and/or the radical islamists. I have known many very good people from Nigeria. Let me ask...what would you do if you were born there?

What would I do , #2? I would beat feet out of there as fast as I could. I have been there many times in pursuit of oil business in south. Though I have been in many places in the world with iffy security, nowhere else gave me the sense of vast relief I felt when I left Nigeria.

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. This was the most expensive Senate race of 2012 -- by a long shot.

The Obama and Romney campaigns may be gearing up for a very late night, with one Obama campaign adviser predicting that in Florida alone, "they'll be counting until 2 a.m." The Obama adviser said signs suggest the race is quite tight, though the campaign claimed to be "holding strong" in key battlegrounds like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The adviser also said turnout among black voters in Virginia was better than expected, suggesting that could be a problem for Mitt Romney. Republican operatives in Virginia, though, predicted a razor-thin victory for their candidate in the state.

A week after Hurricane Sandy slammed into the East Coast, a majority of voters said President Barack Obama’s response to the crisis wasn’t a factor in their vote, according to early exit polls. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed, per CBS News’ early exit polling released by radio station WKZO in Kalamazoo, Mich., said Obama’s handling of the storm was a minor factor in their vote or wasn’t a factor at all. As expected, the presidential race is tight in Ohio, where the polls just closed: President Obama is winning women 55 percent to 44 percent in the early CBS News exit poll, while Mitt Romney is leading 52 percent to 46 percent among men. Women made up 51 percent of the electorate, compared to 49 percent among women. Thirty-nine percent of voters so far identified themselves as Democrats, compared to 30 percent calling themselves Republican. Michelle Obama did not walk the E!-streamed red carpet before tonight´s White House Correspondents´ Dinner — she was already at home, of course — so our first glimpse of her black Monique Lhuillier gown came later, once dinner started. And damn does she look good. This is a sexier look on her than usual, with a sheer lace panel over her decolletage and a molded bustier-style top. She very wisely chose a dress that photographs well while she´s sitting down, Schiaparelli-style, with elaborate beading along her collarbone and fitted cap sleeves that flatter her arms. Sanford - A new memorial was dedicated Saturday not only for Trayvon Martin, but for 10 other people who were killed in Sanford. Families of the victims used the occasion to share their stories and speak out for closure and justice. The new Trayvon Martin Memorial was established at the Goldsboro Welcome Center on Historic Goldsboro Boulevard in Sanford. It features Trayvon Martin’s name on a headstone and 10 other Sanford area residents who family members say were killed unjustly.
