| A U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed and another wounded early today in a shooting near the U.S.-Mexico border.The agents were on duty near Naco when the shooting occurred about 2 a.m., according to a statement released by the U.S. Border Patrol. The agency isn't releasing details about exactly where it happened or how it happened. The wounded agent was airlifted to a hospital. He was reportedly shot in the ankle and buttocks, the Associated Press reported. He suffered non-life threatening injuries, the Border Patrol said. The incident is being investigated by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.

If it can be determined that this agent was shot with a "Fast and Furious" gun, then I don't see how Holder can escape criminal prosecution, let alone keep his job.

It may come down to states protecting their own borders by building and guarding their fences a 1/2 mile inside the international border on their own land. Also, they can now buy their own drones to spy on foreigners for a change.

FTA: The agents were assigned to the Naco station, which was recently renamed in honor of Brian Terry, who was slain in a shootout with border bandits in 2010 near Nogales. That shooting was later linked to the Fast and Furious gun-smuggling operation run by federal agents in Phoenix.

If presidential politics ever involved time travel, President Obama might be in a little trouble. If an election between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were held today, 58% would vote for Reagan over Obama, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. Though when the field is narrowed to people ages 18-34 -- those either too young to have known Reagan as president or too young to remember much -- the gap shrinks to 51% in favor of Reagan.

With all due respect to Mother Jones´s conversation-leaker-in-chief David Corn, the recordings published today of a conversation between Sen. Mitch McConnell and some consultants disparaging Ashley Judd is not news. It´s the sausage being made. We´ve got full background here, but the toplines are this: Corn got hold of a conversation apparently recorded during a presentation by consultants to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell´s reelection campaign. The consultants were opposition researchers, hired by the campaign to ferret out damaging information about actress Ashley Judd, who at one point considered running against McConnell.

A homeless man, oblivious to President Obama’s passing motorcade, took BB gun practice in the nearby woods and refused to drop his weapon when confronted by Connecticut cops, officials said today. Obama was speaking yesterday at the University of Hartford when police, stationed along the president’s route to Bradley International Airport, heard noises coming from a nearby wooded area around 5:50 p.m., said Bloomfield police Capt. Harris County sheriff´s deputies said at least one person was wounded and a suspect was in custody after a stabbing at the Cy-Fair campus of Lone Star College Tuesday afternoon. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion.
