Khalid al-Mansour and his

There have been lots of interesting responses to last week’s column about Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, but none more interesting than the response of al-Mansour himself. [Snip] Just two days after my column appeared, al-Mansour was doing damage control — telling Buzzfeed.com that he had never talked to OPEC Secretary General Rene Ortiz about setting up the $200 million fund, as Jarrett had reported — and that indeed he had never even talked to Jarrett about the topic. That, of course, would make Jarrett either a liar or a charlatan, which considering his distinguished 50-year career in journalism, including long stints

Miele has done some excellent investigative research and dot connection. We already knew that al-Mansour in all probability managed to get Obit into Harvard, fully financed.

As I remember al-Mansour was featured in Sean Hannity's October 2008 reveal on Obit - Barack Obama's Radical Friends - which is still available at YouTube in six segments - you just have to search for it.

This is an interesting and revealing sequel to Miele's first piece last week.

The Mansourian Candidate in the White House would like all of this to go away.

Percy Sutton was a very prominent man in New York for many, many years. He would not need to invent a story like this to burnish his reputation.

The best show on TV last week wasn’t “The Walking Dead.” It wasn’t “Downton Abbey.” And it sure wasn’t “The Academy Awards.” [SNIP] No matter what else she has done before, or does after, former RT-America anchorwoman Liz Wahl should always be remembered and thanked for telling the truth about “the enemy within.” Wahl had spent the last two weeks feeding the Kremlin’s propaganda to her gullible American TV audience about the Ukrainian uprising and the Russian occupation of Crimea. But finally, she couldn’t ignore her conscience any longer, so she looked straight into the camera and told her Russian bosses to

You have to hand it to Nancy Pelosi: She was dead-on accurate when she claimed Congress had to pass Obamacare before we would find out what was in it. The latest case in point is the “Shared Responsibility Payment,” which appears in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, but hasn’t been widely appreciated for its Orwellian genius until the IRS started to promote it this year. The “Shared Responsibility Payment” is the penalty U.S. citizens have to fork over to their federal overlords if they fail to accede to the government’s order that they purchase health insurance for themselves

Chalk one up for the good guys — well, sort of. After a week of mockery, derision, and disdain, the Federal Communications Commission has announced that it won’t put observers in newsrooms after all. FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai’s op-ed in the Wall Street Journal on Feb. 10 had alerted the public to the dangers of having government representatives querying news bosses about how they decide what stories to cover — and which ones not to cover. The implicit threat of such heavy-handed research is that the government could be on the verge of announcing that IT will decide what stories are important to

Just what we needed — another item to add to the ever burgeoning file labeled “Things that can’t possibly be true in America, but are anyway.” Consider this monstrosity: Our formerly constitutional government, in the form of the Federal Communications Commission, has developed a plan to put observers in the nation’s newsrooms in order to better understand “the process by which stories are selected.” Of course, they won’t just “understand” the process; they will most assuredly and dangerously alter it, merely by the implied threat of their presence in the formerly sacrosanct newsroom. Just ask anyone who ever worked for a newspaper

If the Super Bowl were what the average Washington pundit thinks politics is supposed to be, then we would have spent the past two weeks reading about how the two opposing teams were looking forward to working together for the common good in today’s game. Just as we are constantly being told to yearn for an era of post-partisan compromise in D.C., our football pundits would be talking about the need for ending the heated rivalries and bringing about an era of cooperation on the field of play! But the chances of truly principled Republicans and Democrats seeing eye to eye about

There are some things about which I can take pleasure in saying, “I told you so,” but a nuclear Iran is not one of them. I first wrote about the slow but steady progress of Iran toward becoming a nuclear power in December 2007, and then followed up in 2010. The theme of both columns was the incredible naivete of the United States in accepting the reassuring words coming from Tehran about the Islamic republic’s nuclear intentions. In 2007, I disdainfully concluded, “if global geopolitics were a television sitcom, then the government of the United States would be Boss Hogg, and

Rich Scheben, on the other hand, is ready and waiting. One of the most heart-breaking medical tragedies of recent years occurred earlier this month when a 13-year-old girl woke up from surgery for a tonsillectomy, asked for a popsicle, and then started bleeding profusely from her mouth and nose, leading to a heart attack as a result of loss of blood[SNIP] When we see trained medical professionals reacting so coldly to the pleas and needs of a family in a medical crisis,it can only remind me of the warning of Sarah Palin and others of the danger of turning our most personal life-and-death decisions over to bureaucrats and functionaries.

After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. Perry is trying to erase the memory of his disastrous 2012 GOP presidential campaign which included “brain-farts” and “oops” debate moments with his folksy, charming, and uniquely American manner. Curious about Perry’s comeback strategy, I asked Texan and GOP presidential media guru, Mark McKinnon and he said,

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

Las Vegas - Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the 2016 presidential race, courting him and his intimates and starting talks on fundraising strategy. Concerned that the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal has damaged New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s political standing and alarmed by the steady rise of Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), prominent donors, conservative leaders and longtime operatives say they consider Bush the GOP’s brightest hope to win back the White House.

A startling rift appeared Tuesday on the Supreme Court as the three female Justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills. The Justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Incidentally, Maraniss was telling the truth: Ann´s "days in Seattle" weren´t mentioned in Dreams from my Father and were only vaguely implied in Maraniss´s lengthy 2008 article.
