Someone fatally shot a 17-year-old boy in the head Friday night in the Pill Hill neighborhood on the Far South Side, authorities said, and a 33-year-old man was killed later in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side. Six others were wounded but expected to survive the attacks, which happened as far north as Sunnyside Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood south to 85th Street in the Gresham neighborhood. Seventeen-year-old Derrick Davis, who lived one block north of where he was killed, was shot in the 9200 block of South Chappel Avenue about 6:15 p.m.,

Maybe the Obamas are trying to starve their "sons" at school during the week, so they'll be too lethargic to shoot each other over the weekend.

But remember, these guys aren't real effective. So next week, you might want to weight the wounded count more heavily.

Good luck!

Listen folks, I am so right wing I am probably to the right of Genghis Khan but this is so tragic it's beyond words.

The Dems have created a violemt underclass, amoral, feral and no respect for human life. I am a child of the South and grew up with black people. They were our friends and, yes, we kmew they worked for us but they were considered family. I know that soumds elitist and lese majeste but it's the truth.

The appalling crime rate among blacks is a direct result of imcredibly stupid liberals who wanted to "help" those poor blacks and feel oh-so-good about themselves. As a result, they have committed thousands of young blacks to an early grave.

Sadly, this is a recurring situation.
Chicago papers should just leave the article
in place and fill in the blanks for number dead and number wounded weekly. The Mayor of this city cannot control the situation, but he was expected to guide Obama's running of the USA.

You know what? I'm tired of reading about the stupidity in Chicago and the shootings, woundings, macho Cr*p and all that noise. Just give me a monthly synopsis of the dead...never mind the wounded...if they can't shoot each other better than that then skip the short story blurb and report on number of cars produced in Detroit, what color,2 door or 4 door...you know, something more interesting. Let everybody know when Chicago runs out of people and when the whole stupid town is going to be paved over into a giant parking lot...

I'm not surprised. Chicago is and has always been run by corrupt demonrats who believe the ultimate achievement is a permanent underclass, amoral, feral, do anything that feels good citizenry. If you're an incompetent union teacher, so much the better. Give them more money and benefits for their part in creating this feral class.

The White House on Monday said that former Secretaries of State George Schultz and James Baker would lead the president´s delegation to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher´s funeral. Schultz served under President Reagan, while Baker was White House chief of staff. Baker was later named Secretary of State during the George H.W. Bush administration. HARRISBURG - The name Department of Public Welfare was no doubt seen as an improvement when the state came up with it nearly a century ago, merging two older offices - the Board of Charities and the Committee on Lunacy. But now, 90 years later, Pennsylvania is one of just two states in the nation that still use the word welfare in the name of the massive agency that serves mainly the elderly, disabled, and children. Legislators, former state officials, and advocates for the more than two million residents who rely on the agency´s vast array of services say

This day in 1959, four months after leading a successful revolution in Cuba, Fidel Castro began an 11-day visit to the United States. His visit came at a time when tensions between his regime and the American government were rising steadily. Castro neither requested nor accepted an official government invitation for his trip to Washington and New York. Rather, he came at the invitation of what was then called the American Society of Newspaper Editors. During his stay, Castro placed a wreath on George Washington’s grave, toured the Bronx Zoo, ate hot dogs and hamburgers at Yankee Stadium and

Insurgents in Iraq deployed a series of car bombs as part of highly co-ordinated attacks that cut across a wide swath of the country today, killing at least 55 on the deadliest day in nearly a month. The assault bore the hallmarks of a resurgent al-Qaeda in Iraq and appeared aimed at sowing fear days before the first elections since U.S. troops withdrew. There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but coordinated attacks are a favourite tactic of al-Qaeda´s Iraq branch. Iraqi officials believe the insurgent group is growing stronger and increasingly co-ordinating with allies

Philadelphia Chief Medical Examiner Sam Gulino called the task "unprecedented." The job? Examining bag after bag of frozen fetuses removed from Kermit Gosnell´s West Philadelphia abortion clinic. "This was something that in 15 to 16 years . . . I had never been asked to do," Gulino told a Philadelphia jury today as Gosnell´s murder trial entered its fifth week. "There was no guidance on how to proceed," Gulino testified. And he asked. Gulino said fellow coroners and medical examiners and experts in forensic were as stumped as he.

In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen told host Jake Tapper on Monday that the explosions in Boston could be the work of Al Qaeda terrorists as much as they could be part of a planned assault by “right-wing extremists.” Bergen said he was reminded of the Oklahoma City bombing, and that terrorism on the right could not be ruled out. Tapper asked Bergen if he thought there was a terrorist element behind the attack, to which Bergen replied that this event reminded of the 1995 attack on a federal building in Oklahoma City.

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:

Is media bias to blame for lack of Gosnell coverage? Or something far more banal? The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.
