Despising Dixie
American Spectator, by Daniel J. Flynn

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 9/29/2012 5:27:44 AM

Why does Chuck Thompson hate black people? Just when the percentage of African Americans living in Dixie reaches its fifty-year high, Thompson writes Better Off Without 'Em: A Northern Manifesto for Southern Secession. Coincidence? Of course, the author never comes out and admits his prejudice. He employs code words. The good news is that I've deciphered his encrypted tome. The Rosetta Stone to understanding Better Off Without 'Em involves recognizing Thompson's use of "Southern" as a code word for "black" -- a practice akin to his younger white hipster brethren using "Canadians" as a sub rosa slur

I encountered a lot of this ignorant prejudice when I lived in oh-so-hip California and terribly enlightened Ohio. ?My intellectual Betters, by benefit of birthplace were so racially enlightened, so beautifully educated, so socially superior... Despite the fact that they knew no black people by name, had never even invited one into their homes as a guest, had never struggled against the urban black culture, helped in a food pantry, free clinic, or poor public school, like many of us stupid southern hicks have done. These wise and liberal northerners and westerners were so quick to lift their noses high, but their knowledge of US history was rudimentary at best. Their literary background was below basic. They lacked the educational wherewithal to understand the truth. So I gave up on them and moved south, where the locals wave with. All their fingers, and both black and white are part of the human race. What a relief!

The Democrat Plantation has capitalized on the backwardness of the southern "Canadians" for a hundred and forty years. All the while blaming evil Republicans for the plight of the poor.
But don't worry. The Metsicans are moving in and taking over and they won't put up with this racist foolishness for much longer.
Be careful what you wish for, my Dem friends.

The book is so predictable and pathetically written that no one will read it. I peeked inside, and it's awful. Some elitist libs will buy it and leave it lying around conspicuously for effect, but it's a sad work.

In 1971 when I accepted a transfer from an office in Palo Alto to an office in Atlanta, I was assured with all seriousness by a cohort that in the South everyone still drove horse and buggies and no roads were paved.
The ignorance of the South is mind-boggling….and yet I hesitate to try to correct it….we don't really want those people down here anyway. "Yeah! We're all fat and ignorant in Mississippi. You don't need to come down here! It's hot and humid, and we all have guns!" Actually, the last sentence is pretty much correct.

Funny, my experience has been just the opposite. I find that it's the Southerners who seem to be most ready to say unkind things about the "Nawth"...

So far, Joel Osteen seems prepared to turn the other cheek. The target of an elaborate internet hoax that tricked many people into believing that the charismatic leader of Lakewood Church had forsaken his Christian faith, Osteen refused to say whether he planned to take legal action against those responsible. “You know, I’m really not angry. I don’t feel like a victim,” Osteen told ABC News. “I feel too blessed, that life is too short to let things like this get you down.” In a coordinated April fool’s prank, a man who has so far remained anonymous

A couple of months ago, François Hollande was presented with a baby camel by local authorities in Timbuktu in appreciation for France’s military action against Islamist militants in Mali. The animal did not come quietly. Hollande had initially hoped to have the camel vaccinated and transported to a Parisian zoo, but decided it would be easiest for the French and best for the beast if it were entrusted to a local Timbuktu family who had suffered damage to their property from French tanks. It appears that his trust was misplaced.

After listening to the latest secret recording made public by Mother Jones, there’s no question that Ashley Judd — and the Democratic Party — dodged a serious bullet when the actress decided not to run against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).While I agree with The Fix that the dust-up over said recording of a McConnell campaign opposition research meeting is “much ado about not much” since such research is a bipartisan ritual, there was enough oppo gold to sink a Judd candidacy. Justin Timberlake concerts for King Obama… but no Blue Angels for Americans… KomoNews reports the following: SEATTLE — The annual summer Blue Angels show over Seattle has fallen victim to federal budget cuts. Seafair spokeswoman Melissa Jurcan said the festival received official word from the Navy on Tuesday morning that the fighter jet demonstration team would not be making the trip to Seattle for 2013. Sequestration prompted the Department of Defense to prohibit military aerial demonstrations along with other cost savings measures, and the Navy said it was cancelling all remaining Blue Angels performances for the year.

It´s a story that could be ripped from the headlines of the National Enquirer. A family feud. A multimillion dollar estate. Dueling allegations of fraud. Accusations of kidnapping, theft, and stalking. Tales of lavish spending that include a private jet chartered to transport 18 dogs. And in the latest chapter, ongoing in a Florida courtroom today, a wealthy mother so fed up with allegedly being asked for handouts that she has filed a restraining order against her son. The mother is Florida socialite and philanthropist Lois Pope, 79. The son is Paul Pope, 45,

MIAMI -- Lilly Pulitzer hosted parties in her bare feet and wasn´t afraid to get a little messy - just as long as she looked good and had fun, too. In the late 1950s, the Palm Beach socialite had time to spare and a wealthy husband who owned citrus groves, so she opened an orange juice stand just off the island´s main shopping street. Pulitzer needed to hide all the juice stains on her clothes, though. Instead of just putting on an apron, she asked her seamstress to make some sleeveless dresses

Pabon introduced a bill on the issue two years ago, but it didn’t clear the state Senate. State welfare recipients receive their benefits

Add the name of Michelle Lynne (ne Robert) Kosilek to the list of modern phenomena the Founding Fathers would definitely not appreciate being blamed for. Little did they know what havoc they would someday wreak by adding the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution to prohibit “cruel and unusual punishment.” Now comes Kosilek, a convicted wife murderer doing life without parole. He/she is claiming that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to deny him/her a sex-change operation — excuse me, “gender-reassignment surgery.”Not to get too graphic, but Kosilek is begging for elective amputation of a body part.

Two very bad and extremely dangerous economic developments happened yesterday — and Wall Street appeared to miss both of them. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 40.86 points to 14565.25 after the Labor Department announced that the seasonally adjusted number of new jobs created in March was just 88,000 — far below the 190,000 or so Wall Street expected. The March figure was also less than one-third the number of jobs created during February. This led to the misperception that the job market tanked in March. It didn’t.

At the same time, each episode ends with the entire family at the dinner table where they pray before eating. Indeed, the Robertson clan is entirely evangelical. They take their faith in Christ seriously and exert quite a bit of effort preaching the gospel. The patriarch of the family, Phil, used to live

Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
