| Fox’s Sunday host Chris Wallace is tired of hearing conservatives criticize recent polls that show Mitt Romney trailing President Obama; and he let radio host Mike Gallagher know that today with a fiery scolding. Things initially got tense when Gallagher took issue with Wallace characterizing the Romney campaign as “in trouble.” “Wait a minute,” Gallagher interrupted, “what do you mean ‘Romney’s in trouble’? Where’d you get that from? What, because of the poll manipulation crap?” That set Wallace off. “This criticism of the polls is craziness. I actually did some research on this today,

Wallace is a has been. I don't trust him for one minute. Rush played a comment several weeks ago about Romney from abccbsnbccnn & Chris ...all were identical . Sooo he's gets the same daily talking points as abccbsnbccnn. I think it was about Romney saying something about the Libya incident. They all go to the same DC cocktail parties. Geraldo, Shep & Chris are so boring. One thing I have noticed is Shep,Chris & Geraldo have came out in full force for the won.

How does Wallie know they are fake or not fake??? Who cares? The polls are like the liberal media ... worthless. Funny the WH sued one polling co for giving bad numbers for the won...does Chrissy know that????? Hope his daddy leaves him enough $$$$$ for new hair piece. Gallagher do us a favor & leave Wallie off the guest list. I mute him. I thought Geraldo got really up tight over the won, but Wallace has him beat. Sorry for the inadvertent post.
Chris's in depth research on the topic missed the Fox Nation post by Matthew Sheffield two days ago. It cites Hugh Hewitt's interview with Quinnipiac assistant director of polling ops Peter Brown.
From the Fox article, "Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac polling operation was particularly squeamish about sampling under tough questioning from Hewitt about a poll which Quinnipiac had released showing Democrats with a 9 percentage point advantage in the state of Florida."
If you missed Hugh's interview, it's worth a read.
Wallace is either letting his bias show, or he is challenging Shep for dimmest bulb at Fox. Probably a bit of both.

I don't know what "research" Wallace did. But it's a fact that all pollsters "weight" their raw numbers by multiplying them by an expected turnout factor.
It is also a fact that most pollsters have been using a turnout factor for Democrats that is absurdly high.

The only poll that matters is November 6.
We won't be taking any until then. The MSM and their polls should be boycotted for the simple reason that it tells the cheaters how many votes they will need to win.

Looks like some projection going on, here. Let's see: Wallace "acts okay" until people disagree with him. Excuse me, but a lot of posters here seem to be "acting not okay" because Wallace disagrees with them. The "poll bias" schtick seems to be the trope of the day. Fine, but Wallace is entitled to his opinion, especially since there is no proof the polls are wrong - and there won't be until after the election.
And in any case, even virtually all of those who are convinced that most polls are skewed, accuse them not of being biased on whether Romney is behind, but only about how far he is behind.
And I wonder how many of those criticizing Wallace also support their belief in skewed polls by citing Rasmussen - except when Rasmussen, too, shows Romney ahead and then they turn on Rasmussen, too.
Every poll that shows Romney behind, even by a single point, is biased. Okay, I get it, and I hope they're right. But I'm not about to log onto Intrade and put cold, hard cash on it - and neither, I suspect, are any of the posters criticizing Wallace.
Why is everyone giving Romney advice on how to up his game if everyone is so assured that he is ahead?
|
Reply 37 - Posted by:
geneinnyc, 9/29/2012 12:22:18 AM (No. 8897612)
I followed the link, listened to the entire exchange. Wallace was extremely even-handed, agreed with Gallagher about media bias, even said that the MSM bias is the worst he's ever seen, and conceded that the margins seem too wide in some cases, but maintained that the overall trend is toward Obama. One can argue otherwise, but it seems to be a fair assessment. Even on Rasmussen, Obama and Romney were tied yesterday; today, Obama is ahead by one point. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
But I think Romney needs to up his game. And I'm praying that the campaign has a strong GOTV organization.
If he runs the kind of campaign McCain did, Romney will lose. I really don't see how anyone can disagree with that.

I'm not defending Chris Wallace, but he and Gallagher harass each other every week. Most of what they say is a JOKE and they are just poking fun. Unfortunately, there are some who take everything seriously and don't take the time to figure out what the complaints are about. BTW, personally I don't know anyone who believes the "polls". Hours after the Lockerbie atrocity, Mrs Thatcher was wading through the carnage wrought by terrorists over a small Scottish town, paying her condolences to the bereaved. It had been a long and harrowing day, but when she arrived back in London late that night she still found time to phone me at home. Her voice was anxious, kind. She asked: ‘How is Ray, dear?’ The day before, my husband had suffered a serious accident and Mrs Thatcher had been characteristically solicitous, offering her car to run me home.

Arizona Gov. Janice Brewer has signed a law providing strong new restrictions on the use of so-called "seclusion rooms" in schools – closet-sized rooms where children with behavioral disabilities such as autism were being locked up as punishment. "It is chilling to imagine an Arizona school child being shut away in a padded room, no larger than a closet, for hours on end," Brewer said after signing the law Friday. "There has to be a better way." With the new law, Arizona will join more than 30 other states that impose rules on the restraint of students in public schools.

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Writing in the blog The Review, J.P. Freire performs a devastating examination of how the Associated Press eulogized former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on Monday versus how the news service examined the legacy of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez upon his death. What Freire found was an evident sense of admiration for Chavez’s accomplishments as the Latin American state’s autocratic leader, but a distinct lack of respect for Thatcher’s achievements in office. “Love her or loathe her, one thing’s beyond dispute: Margaret Thatcher transformed Britain,” AP opened the former U.K. prime minister’s obituary on Monday.

Is ObamaCare the reform to end all other reforms? The massive health care law´s problems are well known. Major tax hikes and Medicare cuts will fund a massive new government program, rather than shore up the nation´s finances. ObamaCare already is encouraging companies to cut jobs and work hours. With the administration delaying the insurance exchanges that might help small businesses until 2015, even ObamaCare cheerleaders are growing worried. And the law will leave tens of millions of Americans without health coverage. That´s the best-case scenario,

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. The report cited United Kingdom diplomats, saying Pyongyang was demanding the U.S. president personally call Kim Jong-un as one of the conditions to relieve the current conflict at hand. Itar-Tass also quoted the U.K.’s Sky News as saying North Korea currently has eight nuclear warheads.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

Annette Funicello, the dark-haired darling of TV´s “The Mickey Mouse Club” in the 1950s who further cemented her status as a pop-culture icon in the ´60s by teaming with Frankie Avalon in a popular series of “beach” movies, died Monday. She was 70. Funicello, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987 and became a spokeswoman for treatment of the chronic, often-debilitating disease of the central nervous system, died at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, Walt Disney Co. spokesman Howard Green said. On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —
