Free healthcare clinic at L.A.
Sports Arena draws 4,800

Los Angeles Times, by Anna Gorman

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 9/28/2012 2:04:06 PM

On one side of the Los Angeles Sports Arena on Thursday morning, doctors treated patients for swollen feet, breathing problems and high blood pressure. On the other side, county health workers began enrolling them in a free coverage program in preparation for the federal healthcare overhaul. Many of the 4,800 people seeking care at the annual massive free clinic this weekend will become eligible for health insurance in 2014 when the national law takes effect. Organizers said raising awareness about the healthcare changes is crucial. "It's as important as the care being delivered this year,"

There is no such thing as "free" healthcare.

Someone pays for it.

That may be a simple point, but it's vitally important. I'm tired of even hearing the term, because it purposefully reinforces the myth -- right in step with the agenda.

The longer photo of this crowded scene that appeared on this morning's Times is a scary sight - looked like some Third World country. How could any kind of sanitary procedures been employed? A mess.

Is this the future of America?

Yes this will be Obamacare. Since CA has not been able to reimburse its Hospitals for the flood of illegal aliens - aka '2012 no photo ID Obama Voters', large numbers of hospitals have been closing. Doctors will retire/stop practicing medicine when the government/insurers won't pay costs (most of such rules/costs MANDATED by Federal & State politicians) to provide medical treatment.

So sports arenas will not act as hospitals to folks that used to go to local hospital Emergency Rooms. Probably will also function as post offices too. You can pickup your junk mail first thing, then sit all day reading it, while the union postal/healthcare workers see a few patients a day, and give the lucky ones a few aspirin and bandaids.

FTA: If you don't have a job, you don't have insurance," she said.

If a person had a job with employer sponsored insurance, then that person can either continue coverage via COBRA or they can do what the self employed have done for years, purchase an individual insurance plan.

If a person has never had a job, well, that's another issue, especially if that person is in the US illegally.

More and more docs both in CA and throughout the country are refusing to accept patients that have govn't sponsored healthcare. See it all the time in the waiting rooms of doc offices. Either pay up front or have a recognized private carrier. This will be the future of healthcare.

O may try to force docs to accept govn't funded patients, but he cannot make them work (unless he federalizes them like W. did with the airport screeners)... so they will just retire. What will result is that non-MDs will start rendering medical advice without the protective liability for malpractice and lots of people will die unnecessarily.

New York Times Co reported a decline in quarterly revenue on weak advertising sales but said it would try to grow out of the slump by expanding its suite of digital products. The 11.2 percent drop in advertising revenue in the first quarter underscores the pressure that the New York Times faces to increase its subscription revenue, especially for its digital products, and find new veins of income. The company plans to roll out a line of lower-priced products - including an expansion into e-commerce and games - to attract more readers around the world.

Fox News will air a one-hour documentary on Sunday night, May 5 titled "See No Evil – The Kermit Gosnell Murders.” The scheduled documentary will be the most in-depth coverage the "house of horrors" murder trial has yet to receive on a major news network. The latest Fox News poll asked voters why they thought the Gosnell case received relatively little attention from the national press. The most common answer: Liberal media bias. Forty-one percent of voters think the lack of coverage is because there’s a pro-abortion rights bias in the news media. Another 26 percent say the lack

The Patrick administration clamped down the lid yesterday on Herald requests for details of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s government benefits, citing the dead terror mastermind’s right to privacy. Across the board, state agencies flatly refused to provide information about the taxpayer-funded lifestyle for the 26-year-old man and his brother and accused accomplice Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19. On EBT card status or spending, state welfare spokesman Alec Loftus would only say Tamerlan Tsarnaev, his wife and 3-year-old daughter received benefits that ended in 2012. He declined further comment.

Marathon bombings mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev was living on taxpayer-funded state welfare benefits even as he was delving deep into the world of radical anti-American Islamism, the Herald has learned. State officials confirmed last night that Tsarnaev, slain in a raging gun battle with police last Friday, was receiving benefits along with his wife, Katherine Russell Tsarnaev, and their 3-year-old daughter. The state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services said those benefits ended in 2012 when the couple stopped meeting income eligibility limits. Tamerlan Tsarnaev is telling no tales. The older of the two brothers who committed the Boston Marathon bombings was likely the one who planned the attack, but when he died in a shootout with police just days after the blasts, his thoughts and motivations vanished with him. But the brain that was home to his angry mind remains, and in this case that may mean something. Tsarnaev was an amateur boxer who won the New England Golden Gloves competition as recently as 2009 and 2010. That speaks to a young man with a healthy sense

Two unnamed U.S. officials have told the Associated Press that the surviving suspect in the Boston bombings was unarmed when police captured him hiding inside a boat in a neighborhood back yard. The report contradicts the Boston police department´s own account of Dzhokar Tsarnaev´s capture on Friday - after commissioner Ed Davies described a firefight between him and officers before the terror suspect was captured. The New York Times also said an M4 rifle had been found on the boat - another claim contradicted by the latest revelations. Officers had originally said they had exchanged gunfire

Since the Boston bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was captured, there’s been quite a debate over his Miranda rights and how to treat him — given that he’s a United States citizen. An Associated Press report out this morning is sure to add fuel to the fire. As soon as he was read his Miranda rights, it says, Tsarnaev stopped talking. The report notes that Tsarnaev was read his rights 16 hours after his interrogation had began. Then, he fell silent: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev immediately stopped talking after a magistrate judge and a representative from the U.S. Attorney’s office entered his

President Obama and the First Lady have come up with a crafty strategy to prevent their daughters from getting tattoos — and it banks on the girls thinking their parents are deeply uncool. “What we’ve said to the girls is, ‘If you guys ever decide you´re going to get a tattoo, then mommy and me will get the exact same tattoo. This time, it’s of GOP pollster and frequent Fox News analyst Frank Luntz remarking that Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, and other right-wing talk radio hosts are “problematic” for the Republican Party’s efforts to reach out to other demographics and to fight the polarization of politics. The video was recorded on an iPhone while Luntz delivered a College Republicans-sponsored speech at the University of Pennsylvania earlier this week. As Obamacare was winding its way through the Senate in 2009, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) slipped in an amendment requiring that members of Congress, and their staff, enroll in Obamacare’s health insurance exchanges. The idea was simple: that if Congress was going to impose Obamacare upon the country, it should have to experience what it is imposing firsthand. But now, word comes that Congress is quietly seeking to rescind that provision of the law, because members fear that staffers who face higher insurance costs will leave the Hill. The one clear thing that came out of last week´s chaotic activity in Boston, Massachusetts is that real reporters were missing. For that matter, they´ve been missing since last year´s attack in Benghazi. From Benghazi, the Gosnell abortion trial, gun control debates, immigration and then the Boston Marathon bombings, television news reporting has become positively painful to watch. The First Amendment to the Constitution grants freedom of the press but this was supposed to endow it with a responsibility to be the people´s watchdog. The modern Fourth Estate represented by the mainstream media has made a mockery of this privilege.
