| Erin Moran was just 14 when she signed on to play Joanie Cunningham, the feisty little sister of Richie Cunningham in the hit Seventies show Happy Days. But while child actor Ron Howard, who played Richie, has since gone on to become an A-list Hollywood producer and director, his on-screen 'sister' has fallen on much harder times. Moran, 51, was photographed looking worse for wear outside a Holiday Inn in Corydon, Indiana, after reportedly being kicked out of the trailer she shared with her husband Steve Fleischmann. RadarOnline.com is reporting that Erin was kicked out of the trailer

At a certain point, some of the choices in life firmly foreclose on many other options. From what I understand, even back on the "Happy Days" set, she was doing a lot of "hard living", she just did not develop the high profile that Lindsay Lohan seemed to fall into quite quickly.
The trajectory of her life was not totally unexpected, it just took longer than I thought it might. I figured her burnout would have come before age 30.

Sad to see her decline but hey, she got to live the good life for more than a decade. Instead of just living off her dwindling savings she (or her deadbeat husband) could have gotten an education and a career, but I guess that's just for us "regular" folks. At least she didn't drift into soft core porn like Dana Plato did when her career was on the skids.

I heard that Tom Bosley had mentored the other actors and actresses, telling them that "Happy Days" would eventually end, and that they should save their money.
Apparently Ron Howard listened, but Erin Moran didn't.

"Happy Days" was an ensemble show and each actor owes part of his success to the other members of that cast.
Ron Howard, be a mensch! Help Erin (and her husband) into rehab and set them up with some basic shelter and living expenses.

She's a former actress who hasn't worked in the business in decades, so why is someone snapping her photo as she goes about her daily business? Why is this news? Rather than just use her to sell newspapers or magazines, they should pay her for the photos they've taken.

Of course, Happy Days was a total illusion. It never existed. It was simply a creation of producers. Nostalgia was the selling point. Laverne and Shirley played on the nostalgia factor too.
As for Erin, she's still got good legs but I don't know about those Great Danes. They're almost as big as her. Feeding time must be a frenzy.

The parents of George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin clashed with emotional statements today, the one year anniversary of the Zimmerman´s arrest for shooting the unarmed Florida teenager. Zimmerman´s mother Gladys Zimmerman posted a two page letter online saying that her son was innocent and was arrested "solely to placate the masses." Hours later, Martin´s family and lawyer issued their own letter, stating the Gladys Zimmerman´s remarks were "disingenuous and disrespectful to the very system that is currently affording him every available opportunity to defend himself." The case has drawn white hot passions

A fisherman in Belarus was bitten to death by a beaver, and all he was doing was trying to take its picture, Sky News reports. The man spotted the beaver while fishing with friends at Lake Shestakov, but as he approached to take a photograph, the beaver bit him on the thigh. The animal managed to sever an artery, and his friends couldn´t stop the blood flow. Sky News helpfully reminds us that beavers can, of course, bite through trees. Beaver attacks are rare, though, and when they do occur, rabid beavers are generally to blame

RALEIGH — A new study suggests rising health care costs have taken a particularly large toll in North Carolina, where the number of residents who receive health insurance through their employers has dropped sharply over the past decade. The portion of North Carolinians under age 65 with employer-sponsored insurance declined from 69 percent in 2000 to 56 percent in 2011, according to the report released Thursday by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. That change left 220,000 fewer residents with health insurance. Only four states had a larger percentage drop. Soaring health care costs

In Silicon Valley, the employee perks are the stuff of legend. Parents-to-be at Facebook are given a bonus to help with expenses and extensive maternity and paternity leave. Software company Evernote will pay to have their employees apartments cleaned twice every month. And Google — perhaps the most generous when it comes to fringe benefits — lavishes its employees with free concierge service and a cafeteria chock full of gourmet food. While these benefits are partially a product of the intense competition for qualified tech workers, they may also be a way for companies to simply increase compensation

The state health exchanges that are central to the U.S. Affordable Care Act are costing the federal government more than twice its initial budget to complete. The Obama administration expects to have spent $4.4 billion in fiscal 2012 and 2013 on grants to states that are building new marketplaces to sell subsidized health insurance, according to budget proposals released today for 2014. A year ago, the administration had anticipated spending about $2 billion. Including grants the administration expects to make in 2014, costs for the state-run exchanges will reach about $5.7 billion. SAN FRANCISCO — California lawmakers are considering taking some tax exemptions away from youth groups that do not accept gay, transgender or atheist members — a move intended to pressure the Boy Scouts of America to lift its ban on gay Scouts and troop leaders. Some cities have withdrawn free rent and other subsidies from the Boy Scouts over the years, but legislation introduced by state Sen. Ricardo Lara would make California the first state to target the Scouts for its anti-gay policy. The Long Beach Democrat´s bill, SB 323, is scheduled for its first committee hearing on Wednesday.

Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999.
