| Veteran actor Herbert Lom, fondly remembered for his roles in the Pink Panther films during his half-century of movie appearances, has died at the age of 95. The Czech-born, London-based star appeared in more than 100 films including classics such as Spartacus, El Cid and The Ladykillers. He died peacefully in his sleep this morning, his family said. Clouseau used to drive this guys character nuts. I remember the scene Inspector Dreyfus was so rattled by Clouseau that he cut his thumb off in a little guillotine used for clipping cigars.

"Give me ten men like Clouseau and I could destroy the world." Next to Peter Sellers, Herbert Lom had the most memorable role in the Pink Panther films, IMO. Only yesterday I was thinking about purchasing the whole collection from Amazon. I also remember Lom in "Phantom of the Opera". I'll have to check out his other films.

Just thinking about the on- and off-camera interactions between Herbert Lom and Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther movies make me chuckle. Their different acting styles and comedic approaches complemented each other perfectly in every scene.

When he appeared in the dentist's chair with Inspector under disguise and got that laughing gas going it was hilarious. Then, Peter Sellers pulled his FRONT tooth instead of the bad one and they giggled right through it while his disguise melted.

#9 speaks for me: "The lunatic Dreyfus," spoken as if English were bad French. I loved the way "Dreyfus's" face would twitch when he was thinking about Clouseau and going out of his mind.
You might not have known, but Herbert Lom (the man, not the actor) publicly said some things that would cause LDotters to stand up and cheer. No fool, he was a passionate defender of freedom and an outspoken enemy of totalitarians who seek to kill or subjugate us. So not only was he fantastic actor, he was a hale and hearty fellow, and thoroughly admirable. Rest in peace, good sir. Well done!

We at Townhall have been covering this hotly contested Senate race for months and the results are finally in: With 36 percent of precincts reporting, Elizabeth Warren has been declared the next junior Senator from Massachusetts. Warren has never held public office before and the eye-popping $40 million she raised this election cycle evidently proved more than enough to unseat incumbent Senator Scott Brown. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87.
