| It's not a bird or a plane — it's a goat. A whole herd of goats. O'Hare International Airport is planning to sign on a shepherd and about 30 goats, sheep or other grazing animals to munch on overgrown brush at the perimeter of the airport later this fall. The chosen herder will be responsible for transporting the animals and maintaining them via a mobile electronic fence. The overgrown property is difficult for machinery to reach because of hills and standing water and will be easier for the herd of animals to handle than mowing or spraying with herbicides,

Goats browse, they do not graze. They'll eat the shrubbery but not the grass. Use sheep, Chicago.

#8, a few times a year, my dad used to haul a handful of goats from his south Texas ranch to sell to the small community of Iranians in Dallas. I don't know if they dined on them, sacrificed them or found other uses, but twenty years ago, their dollars were just as green as anyone else's.

What better way to get access to a secured area of the airport.
I don't know any goat herders, but I bet Obama does. In fact, wasn't his "dad" a goat herder from Kenya?
Pretty soon every airport in the country will have their own herd of goats. I predict there will be goat herding schools with the best foreign nationals applying to be goat herders.
Nothing to see here folks, move along.

#1 - excellent point! But a goat herd is the sort of bright idea you can expect from a bunch of city boys whose exposure to nature has been limited to accidently getting behind the sounthbound end of a northbound mounted cop's horse. What the pols probably want is a flock of sheep -- now, those guys can keep the weeds trimmed down to the bare dirt.

Let's not lose this great opportunity, friends.
Goats? Sheep? Even Black Angus beef cattle? Nuts!
Rhinos! [Real ones.]
Yeah, rhinos. They're endangered, they eat a load more than a sheep or two, they're tough -- we'll have to keep wacky Chinese "traditional medicine practitioners" [read ignorant, superstitious charlatans who prey on ignorant, superstitious clients] away, of course. It'd be worth it. And they'd be easier to see on taxiways and runways. You're not gonna suck a rhino into a 747's engine, I'd bet.
Black rhinos, white rhinos, plaid rhinos -- I don't care. Let's get started!

In separate letters to the legal offices of the CIA, State Department and Defense Department, Issa said some witnesses on the issue might need lawyers, if their agencies decide to retaliate against them for their testimony. “During the course of the investigation, numerous individuals have approached the committee with information related to the attack,” wrote Issa

Margaret Thatcher’s granddaughter displayed a steely composure worthy of the Iron Lady herself as she addressed St Paul’s Cathedral yesterday – and then told a politician who complimented her performance that it was ‘in the blood’. Seventy-two House lawmakers Wednesday sent letters to ABC, NBC, and CBS to express “how profoundly appalled” they are that the networks have “largely ignored” the gruesome trial of disgraced abortionist Kermit Gosnell, as well as Planned Parenthood’s apparent support of infanticide in testimony before the Florida legislature late last month. “The broadcasters’ blackout of the Planned Parenthood infanticide lobbying scandal and the Gosnell ‘House of Horrors’ murder trial are the biggest and most politically-motivated media cover-ups in our nation’s history,” Tennessee Republican Rep. The president could not have expended more time, political capital and energy on his anti-gun legislation and yet today the vote on cloture on the Toomey-Manchin background check bill wasn’t even close. In the end, 54 senators voted for cloture, 6 less than needed. The Democratic senators voting no were Mark Begich (Alaska), Max Baucus (Mont.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Mark Pryor (Ark.), and Harry Reid (Nev.) (for procedural purposes so he could potentially bring it up again). It is hard to blame this one solely on the Republicans who contributed four votes in favor of cloture.

Gallup released a poll Monday that asked Americans to list the most important problems currently facing the country. Despite the fact that the media has been on a months-long, 24/7 crusade to convince DC lawmakers to restrict our Second Amendment civil rights, this propaganda push has failed miserably with the overall population: Only 4% of Americans see gun control as a priority. As if to punctuate this point, with the help of David Axelrod and Steve Schmidt, the insufferable "Morning Joe" crew was in full demagogue mode Wednesday morning. Joe Scarborough was actually screaming something about "terrorists getting guns!"

Washington- In a critical indication of growing U.S. military involvement in the civil war in Syria, CNN has learned Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is ordering the deployment of up to 200 troops to Jordan, according to two Defense Department officials. Protocol: President Obama declined to send a high-level delegation to Wednesday´s funeral of Britain´s Margaret Thatcher. It´s a measure of how little he values the special relationship — and a sign of his own smallness. Back in more gracious times, vice presidents routinely attended funerals of foreign dignitaries. As such, the presence of Vice President Joe Biden — if not Obama himself — would seem fitting for as significant a U.S. ally as the late Prime Minister Thatcher, if not out of warmth of feeling, then simply to represent the U.S.´ gratitude. Yesterday, the most modest of gun control proposals died in the Senate. It would have expanded background checks to people purchasing weapons at gun shows and online sales, enjoyed 90 per cent support among the public and came on the back of the tragedy at Newtown. Yet, despite all that it had going for it, the Toomey-Manchin bill raised just 54 votes--six short of the number necessary for passage. “This is a pretty shameful day for Washington,” said Obama afterwards. It wasn’t exactly a red letter day for him, either. Why did the no-brainer bill fail? Four reasons:

President Obama angrily blamed the defeat Wednesday of his centerpiece gun-control proposal on lies spread by the National Rifle Association, calling it “a pretty shameful day for Washington.” “The gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill,” Mr. Obama said in the White House rose garden about 90 minutes after the vote. “It came down to politics.” As he spoke, Mr. Obama was surrounded by family members of victims of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting. Also with him was former Rep. Gabby Giffords of Arizona, wounded in an assassination attempt.

Authorities on Tuesday revealed little new information about the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon, the most high-profile bombing on U.S. soil in more than a decade and a tragedy that presents a new test for President Obama. Obama, like all Americans, is standing by, waiting for answers as to who planted two bombs improvised from pressure cookers at the finish line of the storied race, and why. Three Americans were killed in Monday´s attack and more than 170 others were injured. "Anytime bombs are used to target innocent civilians, it is an act of terror," Obama said,

As we now move into the official Political Aftermath period of the Boston bombing — the period that will determine the long-term legislative fallout of the atrocity — the dynamics of privilege will undoubtedly influence the nation’s collective reaction to the attacks. That’s because privilege tends to determine: 1) which groups are — and are not — collectively denigrated or targeted for the unlawful actions of individuals; and 2) how big and politically game-changing the overall reaction ends up being.

Washington — President Barack Obama says the Senate’s opposition to a bill that would have expanded background checks for gun buyers marks a “shameful day” in Washington. He says a minority of senators decided “it wasn’t worth it” to protect the nation’s children. Obama spoke in the Rose Garden shortly after the Senate vote rejecting a bipartisan effort to expand federal background checks to more firearms buyers. National Republicans are pulling the plug on Mark Sanford’s suddenly besieged congressional campaign, POLITICO has learned — a potentially fatal blow to the former South Carolina governor’s dramatic comeback bid. Blindsided by news that Sanford’s ex-wife has accused him of trespassing and concluding he has no plausible path to victory, the National Republican Congressional Committee has decided not to spend more money on Sanford’s behalf ahead of the May 7 special election. “Mark Sanford has proven he knows what it takes to win elections. At this time, the NRCC will not be engaged in this special election,”
