CNN Resorts to Questioning Appeal of Jack Nicklaus Endorsement of Romney

| The media are digging deep to rain on Mitt Romney's Ohio campaign. On Wednesday, CNN's Brooke Baldwin stupidly wondered how golfer and Ohio-native Jack Nicklaus' endorsement of the candidate would help him with Ohio middle class voters. "But here you have – you have Romney needing middle class votes in Ohio. How is he helped by a man who has been the face of professional golf, doesn't even live in Ohio anymore?" Baldwin said in her pathetic attempt to play devil's advocate. [Video below the break. Audio here.]By her standards, she could have asked the same question

Yes. Why is a golf god not endorsing the golfingest prez ever!? So unfair.
New MSM talking point: Toss Jack on the heap of Useless Famous People along with Clint Eastwood. He's just a senile old man, what does he know??
The MSM is so nauseatingly predictable.

Mr A doesn't play golf and neither do I, but I do know how very important Nicklaus is to any golf devotee and how that importance is so strong it could easily cause someone to switch to Romney. The man is a legend, not just in Ohio but especially so in that state.
If this woman loves golf as much as she says, she ought to know her questions went beyond stupidity to lunacy. I guess she's aiming for the same demographic as the Obama campaign.

I don't play golf, but I do understand that it is a game of multiple independent variables. Strategies maybe complex. Possibly more complex than a QB throwing a winning game in the NFL.
A thinking man (a proven winner) for Romney. I like the image. It works.

#2 dittos. This woman has no clue how much Jack is respected in Ohio, particularly central Ohio. He single-handedly brought big-time pro sports to our area by founding the Memorial Tournament 30-some years ago.
Plus he's always been a solid, solid citizen. One of the good guys.
This is almost, not quite, akin to an endorsement from Woody Hayes (don't dismiss that importance, it was huge)

Contact his agent and see how much Nicklaus charges to endorse a consumer product.

Penn State needed to look at Woody Hayes as what can happen when a coach is kept around too long. If Woody had quit in 1976 or 1977, his reputation would be mostly unblemished. BTW, Woody was a good friend of the Nicklaus family. He traveled to Denver in 1960 as a self appointed reporter to cover then amateur Jack's play in the US Open because the Columbus newspaper didn't send anyone.

She must be the bubble-headed bleach blonde Don Henley sings about. Anyone (like Me ) with roots in the Columbus area knows the importance of Nicklaus to that region. "Living legend" doesn't even come close to describing his stature there. And if she thinks Romney is anti middle class then she's even dumber than that. His complaint was against lazy able-bodied idlers with their hands out. That ain't the middle class. But then why should we expect some elitist bubble-headed news reader with a six figure income to understand that.

I gave up on golf when I couldn't get the ball past that pesky windmill, but I enjoy watching the game and especially appreciate players who show not only their talents, but their character under competitive stress. Nicklaus is one who always displayed great character and an endorsement from him is no small matter.

Nicklaus endorsement got so little press coverage! The national media all but ignored it.
In one of the Ohio newspapers, I read Nicklaus' comments. He said he was making this endorsement for the benefit of his children and grandchildren. (He has 21!) He also said that he has cut his company employment by HALF, and how difficult it has been to dismiss people who have worked for him for many years, and are like family to him.
I know a number of businesses like this who have let nearly all of their employees go, and are just hanging on by a thread, hoping that they can stay in business long enough to eventually recover.

I meant to also note that Nicklaus is a perfect person to comment on the devastating effect obama's policies have had on businesses! He is not just a "celebrity," but a successful business owner who DID build those golf courses by himself! He built a very successful business and employed a lot of people, and like everybody else, has seen it decimated in these last 4 years.

WASHINGTON— President Barack Obama supports requiring girls younger than 17 to see a doctor before buying the morning-after pill. But fighting that battle in court comes with its own set of risks. A federal judge in New York on Friday ordered the Food and Drug Administration to lift age restrictions on the sale of emergency contraception, ending the requirement that buyers show proof they’re 17 or older if they want to buy it without a prescription. The ruling accused the Obama administration in no uncertain terms of letting the president’s pending re-election cloud its judgment when it

Projecting madly, the White House on Sunday pushed the notion that Republican intransigence is the reason that Democrats have been unable to pass a budget during President Obama’s tenure. “Right now,” said senior White House advisor Dan Pfeiffer on Fox News Sunday, “the approach of many Republicans, particularly the leadership in the House, is my way or the highway.” This is certainly rich coming from an administration that has failed to garner a single “yes” vote on its budget proposals for the past several years, even from members of its own party. WASHINGTON — President Obama went out for a round of golf Saturday afternoon, his second weekend in a row to hit the links at a course at Joint Base Andrews. The president golfed with White House aides Marvin Nicholson, Joe Paulsen, and Michael Brush. Last Saturday, the president played golf at the same course with Nicholson, Brush, and friend and Chicago businessman Marty Nesbitt. The outing marked his first time on the golf course since the sequester cuts went into place on March 1. The president also took in the Syracuse-Marquette NCAA tournament basketball game

No doubt there are parents who have frank, frequent, open and easy discussions with their teens about sex. I’ve never met any. I do know parents, however, who were stunned to find their 15-year-old’s birth control pills in her pocketbook. Or who came home early to discover junior and a girl they’d never met frantically buttoning up. Or who found out — when their children were grown — what really went on when Meghan said she was sleeping over at Ashley’s. Such sobering tales of teens snookering mom and dad caused mixed emotions in me — a solidly pro-choice

Last fall, Ginnette Powell traveled from her home in Boston´s Dorchester section to her old middle school in South Boston - a journey of just two miles, but one that covered a huge emotional distance. Finally, she was able to leave the painful past behind. Powell endured the explosive battle over desegregation in Boston in the 1970s. A few years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Lindalyn Adams was escorting visitors on a bus traveling down Elm Street near Dealey Plaza. “I was pointing out the John Neely Bryan cabin and the Old Red Courthouse, and suddenly I realized the whole bus was leaning towards the right as we were going close to the Texas School Book Depository, and the women [were] pointing and saying, “Is that? Is that? Is that?’” Adams recalled during an oral history interview. She knew, of course, what “that” meant. “That” was where Kennedy had been shot.

The night began like many at Boorda Hall, a five-story barracks at Naval Station Great Lakes, the Navy´s premier training base on the shore of Lake Michigan in Illinois. A 21-year-old Marine lance corporal, so drunk on rum and Mountain Dew she was slurring her words, went to look for Kyle Antonacci, a Navy seaman she´d been dating off and on. President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
