| As the president of the United States was asserting his support for religious freedom at the United Nations Tuesday, his Department of Justice was filing an appeal in the case of the Newland family of Denver, who were granted a preliminary injunction in July to protect their Hercules HVAC business – for now – from the Department of Health and Human Services abortion-drug, sterilization, contraception mandate. DOJ argues that when the Newlands lost their religious liberty when they made the free decision to enter the “the marketplace of commerce.”

Does a business lose its 4th Amendment rights re unreasonable search and seizure just because it enters the "marketplace of commerce"?
Nope.
Ergo: The family business does not lose its 1st Amendment rights when it does the same thing.
Our government is trampling the rights of the citizens under the Bill of Rights.
Apparently the people in Ohio could care less.

If the DOJ believes (and enforces) the concept that engaging in "commerce" removes Constitutional guarantees, then all Constitutionally-"protected" rights can be done away with for everyone in the US, since we all engage in "commerce" with one another as members of society. BTW, since corporations are deemed to be "people", then they too must have no "rights". Dictatorship.

It is an inalienable right of human beings to earn a living for themselves, which is exactly what "the marketplace of commerce” is all about. One does not forfeit one inalienable right by exercising another inalienable right.

Too bad the No-Justice Department doesn't display the same zeal when it comes to muslims and their religious freedom. Oh, that's right. The only true religion in this regime is the muslim religion. That's why they get exemption preferences in every law the WH and the demonrats deem acceptable.

For the last couple of days, I’ve been writing about American culture and American politics. The two are basically inseparable, I find.
