| Madeleine Albright is a woman of many talents. She is apparently also a woman of many hidden talents. Albright recently revealed one of them at the Kennedy Center during the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Drums Competition and Gala Concert. Albright, a long time jazz supporter, picked up the sticks and gave a surprise performance on the drums during the event on Saturday. According to the Washington Post, Albright played "quite creditably."

What I heard in that clip wasn't jazz... I couldn't hear her "contribution" - maybe it was the other two percussionists on either side of her, drowning her out. If you want to hear jazz, and jazz drumming, pick up some Coltrane, Monk, Mingus, etc., and listen to any of the percussionists along... this clip was nothing but bombast.

She wasn't drumming. She had soft mallets and was playing cymbal rolls along with two other percussionists. She didn't "rock out on the drums". If you look closely, you can see that at one point, both of her mallets are hitting the cymbal at the same time, rather than alternating.
I don't like Madeline Albright, but it's not my intention to fault her for her performancde or for sitting in on the song by playing some cymbal rolls. Based on the info I have, she never claimed to be a drummer or percussionist.
I will fault Global Post for the misleading statements about her ability. If it had been any Republican, even if he were spectacular, they would have trashed the performance.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder, the nation´s chief law enforcement officer, returned to the courthouse where he once served as a judge, this time in the role of prospective juror performing his civic duty. The Justice Department said Holder wasn´t chosen and that he won´t be called back. Had he been selected for the jury Tuesday, the attorney general would have been on a panel hearing an armed robbery case. Holder sat in the last row of Judge Stuart Nash´s courtroom along with other prospective jurors as the judge gave details of the case.

MSNBC´s programming became almost entirely full of commentary and opinion in 2012, while "factual reporting" saw almost no airtime, according to a new report from the Pew Research Center. The report, which is part of Pew´s annual comprehensive State of the News Media, found that opinion and commentary fill 85 percent of the airtime on MSNBC. The premium network later this month will air a documentary called "Fall to Grace" on McGreevey’s resignation as governor and his “redemption and transformation” while studying to become an Episcopal priest and working to help female inmates, according to a press release from HBO. An Ohio woman filed a $25,000 lawsuit against her employer, alleging she was fired for voting for President Obama. Patricia Kunkle of Kettering, Ohio, claimed that Dayton-based Q-Mark, Inc., threatened to fire employees of the defense contractor if Obama won re-election, with the president’s supporters to be the first to receive pink slips, the Dayton Daily News reported. Kunkle said she had a conversation the day after Election Day that indicated she voted for Obama. She was fired three days later.

A meeting between the new U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart will take place next week in German capital Berlin. Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have agreed to meet in Berlin on February 26, US State Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said in a statement on Thursday. "Secretary Kerry and Foreign Minister Lavrov will discuss a wide range of bilateral and international issues," she added. The statement did not specify the agenda of talks.
