Iran’s Air Force One
Stationed Near DC

ABC News, by Kirit Radia

Original Article

Posted By:Drive, 9/26/2012 10:33:39 AM

Although firebrand Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not allowed to leave New York City, where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly meetings, his plane has been stationed at the same air base where the President of the United States’ plane Air Force One is stored, Andrews Air Force Base outside of Washington, DC. Sources tell ABC News that Ahmadinejad’s "Iran Air" jet is considered a "high-value target" and an "enemy jet." As such it has been stationed at the secure Air Force Base

I would be installing monitoring devices galore in the dark of night. It would be a field day to have that airplane so close and under US lock and key.

Of course, in order to believe this I have to have faith that the intelligence community and David Petraeus know their head from their posterior and some days, I am not so sure of that.

Doesn't someone have a legal judgment against the Islamic Republic of Iran (79 hostages?) that they could enforce on these assets while they were in the United States?

I'm sure Mahmood and his pals can catch a flight on El Al at least as far as Tel Aviv and hitchhike from there.

C'mon, man. Doesn't ANYONE in the US have a civil judgment against the Islamic Republic of Iran (maybe the '79 embassy hostages?) that they could enforce against the plane.

They could sell it at auction for their money.

Mahmood and his pals can catch an El Al flight to Tel Aviv and hitchike back to Tehran from there.

Iran's UN membership gets him to New York. But I wouldn't let an Iranian government plane come anywhere near the US.

And AFAIK we don't have to, he can take a commercial flight. Or Madonna could fly him in on her private jet.

The North, suffering under dictator Kim Jong-un´s cruel regime, cited a "severe" shortage of food and requested aid during a recent meeting with Mongolia´s President Ts. Elbegdorj. "We ask Mongolia to seek possibilities of delivering food aid to North Korea," an article by InfoMongolia said. Millions of people live near starvation at the secretive state, and children orphaned by misfortune or their parent´s imprisonment, often die from malnutrition. Chilling video footage recently documented a 10-year-old-boy starving to death on the streets of North Korea.

Commercial airline flights moved smoothly throughout most of the country on Sunday, the first day air traffic controllers were subject to furloughs resulting from government spending cuts, though some delays appeared in the late evening in and around New York. And even though the nightmarish flight delays and cancellations that the airline industry predicted would result from the furloughs did not materialize yet, the real test will come Monday, when traffic ramps up.

In another life, Akhmed Zakayev was a renowned actor, a severe-looking young Shakespearean who often played Caius Marcius Coriolanus and Hamlet in Grozny’s tiny theater scene. After the fall of the Soviet Union, in the violent tumult that followed Chechnya’s declaration of independence, he abandoned the stage for the battlefield, becoming a highly regarded rebel commander and navigating various political appointments (culture minister, foreign minister, deputy prime minister).

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina apparently has a thermal-imaging device for detecting the motivation of the man arrested on suspicion of bombing the Boston Marathon. He and three other Republican lawmakers declared — without the benefit of evidence — that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should be considered an enemy combatant, not a criminal, and should be held by the military without access to a lawyer or the fundamental rights that distinguish this country from authoritarian regimes.

How the Media Blew

With the total and complete defeat of gun control legislation late Wednesday afternoon, the media learned something they had obviously forgotten since pushing Obama over the reelection finish line: They do not run the country. And from what we are seeing across the media landscape since the handing down of this defeat (which was followed by a full-blown presidential hissy fit), this realization has been quite a slap to the face. The first mistake the media-complex made was the decision to immediately make the National Rifle Association the "Newtown Bogeyman."

In response to the controversy erupting over today’s New York Post “Bag Men” cover photo, the paper’s editor issued a statement to Salon standing by the editorial decision. The cover photo, which clearly singles out two males wearing backpacks in the marathon crowd shortly before the bombs went off, was accompanied by the headline: “Bag Men: Feds seek these two pictured at Boston Marathon.” Though the headline and graphics implied the two were criminal suspects, Post editor Col Allan‘s statement explains that the paper did not explicitly identify anyone as a suspect:

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama’s re-election glow is gone. Congress’ reputation remains dismal. And only about one in five Americans say they trust the government to do what’s right most of the time, an Associated Press-GfK poll finds. Most adults disapprove of Obama’s handling of the federal deficit, a festering national problem. But they also dislike key proposals to reduce deficit spending, including a slower growth in Social Security benefits and changes to Medicare. Rounding out the portrait of a nation in a funk, the share of people saying the United States is heading in the wrong direction is at its highest since last August: 56 percent.

In a Rose Garden statement in the aftermath of his failure to persuade the Senate to move on any of his gun control proposals, the president raged, Lear-like, against his opponents. It was a rather unpleasant mix–one part petulance and two parts anger. In the course of his outburst, the president said this: I’ve heard folks say that having the families of victims lobby for this legislation was somehow misplaced. “A prop,” somebody called them. “Emotional blackmail,” some outlet said. Are they serious?

THE graying man flashing fury in the Rose Garden on behalf of the Newtown families, the grieving man wiping away tears after speaking at the Boston memorial service, is not the same man who glided into office four years ago. President Obama has watched the blood-dimmed tide drowning the ceremony of innocence, as Yeats wrote, and he has learned how to emotionally connect with Americans in searing moments, as he did from the White House late Friday night after the second bombing suspect was apprehended in Boston.

In debate classes or law school, it is often referred to as the ‘arguing against the non-existing opponent’ tactic. The way it works is you imply your opponent is making an outlandish, unsavory claim (though he isn’t), hoping others will run with it or, at worst, that your opponent won’t sufficiently correct it and the claim sticks. To illustrate, imagine Sally is arguing in favor of marijuana’s legalization against Tom. In the middle of the debate, Tom suddenly shrieks: “Well, Sally, you can talk about legalizing marijuana all you want but I just don’t believe

BOSTON - The surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings suffered an injury to his throat and may not be able to talk, a federal official told CNN on Saturday, possibly hindering attempts by authorities to question him about a motive in the attack. Washington — The governor of Massachusetts says he has no idea what motivated the terrorists who exploded two bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Speaking Sunday on CBS’ ”Face the Nation,” Deval (deh-VAL’) Patrick said it’s hard to imagine why someone would deliberately harm, quote “innocent men, women and children in the way that these two fellows did.” Patrick also said law enforcers believe the immediate threat ended when the police killed one of the alleged terrorists and captured the other. The most glaring fact about our president is that he is an empty suit. The people around him are also empty suits. When tragedy strikes, like in the Boston bombing, these empty suits can look and

Lots of “tough questions” are being asked about why the FBI--having interviewed the older Boston bomber, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, in 2011--failed to continue to keep tabs on him. But that is the wrong question to be asking. The much more pressing question is: why the FBI didn’t nab the bombers on Monday night? After all, they hadn’t skipped town, and one of them--Tamerlan--was sitting "on file" as someone whom the Russian government said they suspected was an Islamist terrorist. A man they repeatedly interviewed just two years ago. Why did no one check those files, within minutes of the

Following the attack in Boston, some politicians, including Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Dan Coats (R-IN), advised slowing down immigration reform legislation in order to allow further debate and not make rushed decisions based on emotions. In an interview with Bloomberg’s Trish Regan, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) criticized his colleagues, deeming the argument “ludicrous.” Grassley’s remarks on Friday immediately caught attention when he said, “Given the events of this week, it’s important for us to understand the gaps and loopholes in our immigration system.” “How can individuals evade authorities and plan such attacks on our soil?” he asked.
