Lost in the celebrity-in-chief's choice: American interests. For a president who lectured about the primacy of diplomacy in his hour-long address to the U.N., he sure didn't make time to practice any. Instead of taking the annual opportunity to hold bilateral sideline meetings with allies and partners about urgent issues, as all presidents do, an Obama aide told an obviously aghast New York Times reporter:

There's absolutely nothing attractive about this brain-challenged metrosexual coward, with purple lips and flap ears that could double as a satellite dish. That's not even taking into consideration the failed policies of his regime, which have led to death and destruction world-wide. Failed Obama policies. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends.
