Beyond dereliction, wonder what the ulterior motives could have been?: The ambassador had implicative information on the admin colluding with Al Queda, was possibly going to spill the beans, required elimination?; a sacrifice on the altar to Islam?; an excuse to move against free speech from a UN perspective? Some combo? The enemy had way too much detailed information to believe DC wasn't somehow complicit.
