Revolt Over School Lunches?
Weekly Standard, by Daniel Halper

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 9/25/2012 6:34:27 PM

Criticism is mounting over First Lady Michelle Obama's lunch plan, as kids are complaining they aren't getting enough to feel full after eating. "Some Kansas students and at least one political leader say new school lunch guidelines aimed at limiting calories and encouraging good nutrition are having an unintended consequence: Hungry kids," McClatchy reports. The report points to this parody video of kids complaining about the new lunch program established by First Lady Obama:

Michelle's hot air doesn't translate into full bellies for children because she, like her idiot husband, has no idea what she's talking about. Just goes to show, yet again, having fancy degrees doesn't always translate into common sense.

As a high school teacher, I can tell you there are very unhappy campers, at least in our building. And the amazing thing is that no colleague has known that this stems from a decree from Michelle Obama. When I tell them they are usually silent for five seconds or so, and then say something like, "Well, Bush conspired with the oil companies to get gas prices where they are today".

Working in the heart of the leftist beast is actually quite humorous, to be honest.

FTA: ~~....Sidwell Friends, the elite private school the Obama kids attend in Washington, D.C. According to the school's website, pepperoni pizza is on the menu today:

French Mushroom Soup
Classic Caesar Salad
Boston Bean Salad
Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza
Variety Flatbread Pizza
Variety Veggie Flatbread Pizzas
Sauteed Local Greens
Sliced Melon

How could they...?!!

My grandkids, who are in elementary school, have been complaining since the beginning of school and are taking their lunches. They are still disgusted that all they can get is fat free milk, which they hate. So they take...chocolate and strawberry syrup to put in it. Yum

Hello Michelle...a few unintended consequences?

This has been a hot topic in my house since the start of the school year. I have two athletes in the system and they gave up on school lunch after about a week. They point out that portions are smaller, quality is down and the cost is higher, typical result of liberal programs. Some are making some nice money selling blacklisted items in the parking lot, the usual result of entrepreneurial spirit that rises from the oppression of liberal programs!

Just what every middle schooler wants for lunch. Bet they all have Doritoes and chocolate bars in their backpacks.

How much worse will it will be if they get another 4 years. She has totally screwed up the school lunch program. obamacare is going to be much worse than we can ever imagine. Brown bag it. Except for the kids who get "free" breakfast/lunch don't buy the moochelle special. They only thing they will understand is no cash coming in. I work at a middle school and more food is being thrown away than eaten. On the positive side the girls are really getting into bring their own lunches. The design of the lunch bags is a hot topic. Amazing how the dems thinks your bedroom is suppose to be private but not your refrigerator.

I fondly remember school lunches. I begged my Mom to buy lunch tickets, but we were poor and I usually had to pack a lunch. I remember sloppy joes, homemade pizza, peanut butter sandwiches, haystacks. Also, canned corn and green beans. I hated the milk (had to have a note so I didn't have to drink it)(LOL, I lived on a dairy farm), and if my Mom didn't have time to pack a lunch on Friday, I couldn't stomach the fish loaf they served and would have to pretend I was sick because a teacher stood in front of the garbage can and watched what you threw away. So I guess we had food police back then, too. I'm all for the healthy choices, but I don't want Mooch to take the credit or blame. And we all remember the little lady in white with a net on her hair. Well, she's wearing jeans now with a nose ring and tats.

This is so sad. I can only relate this to my school days at a rural southern Indiana elementary (thru 8th grade) during the late 50s thru 1964. Great lunches made by sweet women that knew how to cook, always a pot of thick creamed rice topped with cinnamon sugar and butter, if you wanted it. You could get by nicely on just the rice if the lunch wasn't enough or to your liking.

Often during the afternoons the principal would randomly enter a class with a big box of raisins and a roll of paper towels and the class would get an impromptu treat. He would also turn the World Series on the school's PA system when class was over and we were waiting for the bus and teachers looked the other way if a transistor radio appeared. There were 3 bus runs and I was on the last one. I realized later in life that I was truly lucky to go to that little country school that didn't even have football. I had a leg up through high school and even college on the strength of my elementary education.

RE #8 et al:

With regards to the fat free milk issue, how about filling a Thermos with whole milk and including it in their lunch or backpack. A small one would hold enough for them to drink with lunch and would keep the milk cold until they drank it.

If I had kids in school these days, I would probably be the most hated parent in the school. I would be constantly in the principal's office ringing a peal about the lunches, the books, the curriculum, sex ed, lack of accuracy in history education and a host of other subjects. My name would be "Oh, &$%#, it's her again!" My kids, however, would know that I valued their education enough to fight for it.

[Editor´s note: This article contains highly disturbing, graphic images. Please proceed with caution.] Who is Dr. Kermit Gosnell? Dr. Kermit Gosnell, age 72, ran an abortion clinic for over 20 years in Philadelphia, now dubbed as the ‘House of Horrors.’ Gosnell allegedly performed illegal, late-term abortions (past the 24-week limit permitted by law), cutting the spinal cords of countless aborted babies. Gosnell also employed unqualified staff, including teenagers and two other “doctors” who were merely medical school graduates without a license. Gosnell allegedly made millions of dollars over his 30-year career and lucrative cash-only abortion practice, as well as

In testimony at the capital murder trial this past month, an unlicensed doctor and untrained aides described long, chaotic days at the clinic. Readings for retail sales have been volatile so far this year, making it difficult to know whether the weakness in March was due to a tax hike that went into effect at the start of the year or to temporary factors related to the weather.
