Bill Kristol: Conservatives Being
‘Too Obsessive’ About Lack Of
Coverage Of Obama’s Gaffes

Mediaite, by Noah Rothman

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 9/25/2012 2:03:05 PM

Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, appeared on Fox News Channel where he was asked about charges made by conservatives that the political press is more willing to criticize Mitt Romney for his misstatements than they are for President Barack Obama. Kristol said that conservatives run the risk of cheapening their message by focusing solely on Obama’s gaffes and not his policy. He says that substance will be how voters make their ultimate decision. Jon Scott read a portion of a column in the New York Post by John Podhoretz who lamented that the press has abdicated

Comments:
While some of what he says may be true, he is always quick to attack conservatives. They're overly fixated on perceived biases in media coverage?? Those biases are very real in case he hasn't noticed.

FTA:"Kristol said that voters may not be satisfied with Obama’s record but that does not mean that they are prepared to throw him out of office without a compelling alternative."
Yo Asshat, one of my two dogs is a compelling alternative! Why don't you and Peggy just take a slow boat to China and leave us alone, you are not helping. Capitulation is not the answer, the truth must be told and the lack of coverage must be pointed out.

Billy, Michael Barone and Fred Barnes are members of the conservative "intellectual" wing. They all give me a pain in the neck. As for Billy, I'm not sure he's conservative. At least Barone and Barnes usually tow the party line, except on immigration where they are hopeless open border advocates.

What #1 & #2 said! Why, oh why do we have to be exposed daily to the idiotic-moaning of a lightweight like bill-kristol? "Obsessive" Conservatives are concerned about far more than the lack of reporting of "gaffes" by obama in the leftist-media! I guess kristol hasn't noticed the daily drumbeat of gotcha garbage being spewed by his pals in the "msm", along with their phony "polls". In fairness to him, that kind of talk probably doesn't come up at the Cocktail Parties very often. It is ingrates like kristol and his constantly grating fellow travelers who are a large part of the problem! Nobody cares what he or the other so-called-conservative-talking-heads say about anything anymore. Just wish they'd all go away!

I'm still looking for suggestions as to what to do with the enormous piece of bone and cartilage from Kristol's nose job.

It's still knocking around as a door stopper at The Weekly Standard's warehouse.

A sacred relic like that deserves a better fate. Maybe L-dotters can organize and come up with a plan to rescue it.

Kristol is all about Kristol. Sure, he makes an occasional good point. But so do we. We don't need him to lead our way. And he is too much of a downer for me.

We need positive thinking - realism, but from the perspective of the glass's being half full.

He always seems to have been raised to be a kvetcher.

Isn't Bill Kristol one of the Republican establishment that told us Romney had to be the nominee? I think he and those of his ilk have decided it would be best for Obama to win reelection.

If Obama wins, all the eastern liberal RINOs like Kristol will be finished. The conservatives will take control of the party once and for all.

It's a shame we have to fight our own party. The Dems never do this.

I’m not sure how widely it was known that Jonathan Winters, whom Robin Williams thought the best comic of his generation, was a conservative. In any case, I sometimes used to show students in my classes on the American Founding the early scene from “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World” where the whole gang tries to deliberate about how to divide the loot fairly when they finally got to the site where the loot was hidden, and how it could illustrate . . . the “great compromise” of the constitutional convention of 1787 in Philadelphia.

The Republican National Committee has reaffirmed its opposition to gay marriage with a slate of resolutions passed unanimously at its spring meeting. Several resolutions re-establishing the party´s official position were adopted without discussion on Friday. One resolution states the party´s belief that "the institution of marriage is the solid foundation upon which our society is built and in which children thrive; it is based on the relationship that only a man and a woman can form." The RNC also expresses its “support for marriage as the union of one man and one woman,

During an appearance on MSNBC´s Morning Joe, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said expanded background checks are "not enough," and private gun sales cannot continue because they allow terrorists to buy guns in the United States. "Can a terrorist currently buy a gun in this country? Yes. Can a felon? Yes. You go to a gun show and virtually no questions are asked," Feinstein claimed. Joe Scarborough chimed in later in the segment to echo Feinstein´s claim, asserting, "So now we have al Qaeda terrorists saying, ´Kill Americans, it´s easy, just go to gun shows, get an assault weapon.´"

We’re glad that U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy and Gov. Dannel Malloy are talking in detail about the victims of Sandy Hook as part of a push for federal gun control legislation. Members of Congress need to know that Dylan Hockley “loved jumping on trampolines and watching movies” and that he “died in his teacher’s arms.” They should meet Benjamin Wheeler’s parents and know what they’ve lost. What Murphy and Malloy are doing is not politicizing a tragedy. It’s an important part of the discussion around restricting the kind of mass murder weaponry used to kill 20 children

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
