What a difference a year makes. In October 2008, the candidate Barack Obama delivered a major economic speech in Toledo, Ohio. In it he said: “Right now, we face an immediate economic emergency, and that requires urgent action. We can’t wait to help workers and families and communities who are struggling right now — who don’t know if their job or their retirement will be there tomorrow; who don’t know if next week’s paycheck will cover

Wow. The WaPo yesterday and now the NYT?? The wheels are coming off.

I never thought I'd see THIS in one of the leaders of the state-run LSM:
'(By the way, the underemployment rate, which includes part-time workers who want to work full time and those who’ve given up searching, is a staggering 17.5 percent.)'

It's usuallly only Rush and Sean et al who refer to this, which is the REAL number.

'This is now Obama’s crisis, and it carries political consequences. During Tuesday’s gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia, nearly 9 in 10 voters said that they were worried about the direction of the nation’s economy in the next year. And the majority of those who held that view voted for the Republican candidates. This could portend a flashback to 1994.'

Meanwhile all they (the dims) talk about is healthcare and carbon. Obami is the opposite of "I feel your pain." he is cold and really doesn't care except as it affects him personally. And this in the NYT probably a firing offense.

I think he may have guessed wrong on a lot of things. So did a lot of voters. I am one of the proud that can stand tall and say I told you so.

How did THIS make it past the editors. My guess is that Blow, like the Move On claque thinks that O isn't "progressive" enough, and needs to move hard left (hard to imagine how that might be possible) to launch a pure Keynsian fix, and what a disaster that would be.

Easy to understand that, #3, but along with the right for you to crow is the obligation of the others to eat crow, openly, publicly and often.

We're talking about a mix of shoddy judgement, misplaced guilt and, above all, mental laziness on the part of media, academics and elites everywhere -- and all the folks, not just goofy liberals, who allowed themselves to be fooled last Nov.

It ain't enough to let them all slink slowly off and reinvent themselves when the wind changes.

They have caused great harm. Time to think about redemption and retribution, especially the latter.

Why oh why doesn't the pubbies make the obvious statement that the Dems have controlled the purse strings of this economy since 2006 and THEY inherited an unemployment rate around 5%?

Bzzzz...Wrong Charlie, this isn't Obama's to fix,he's the problem..Obama and his ilk are the enemy of capitalism and they don't have a substitute for it.The green energy craze isn't going to fix it and the 3.5 million green jobs Obama promised wil never materize. We keep seeing millions of dollars thrown at things, creating a handful of jobs.He threw $50 billion at loan mods to keep people in their homes, yet people are having to pay thousands out of pocket to a lawyer to work out a new deal with the banks. Where did that $50 billion go? There's absolutely no oversight or accountibility for all the billions Obama is doling out anywhere. The forms people have to fill out to comply with creating jobs with stumulus money is mind boggling. That's why you're seeing people getting raises counted as a saved job.The saved job thing is insane to begin with and we know Bush would never have gotten away with that crap. The NY Times thinking Obama can fix anything just shows how tuned out to reality they are. This country is undergoing a culure shock and are mentally immobilized and in survival mode.Obama ran as a hope candidate and all he's done is

I agree with #5. The media needs to be forced to admit their guilt. There are some writers who I will never believe again. Others maybe if they admit their mistake..and betrayal. Just as we remember politicians who try to play us..we remember the media cons too.

Everytime 0bama blames Bush for this administration's problems, he just unscores how impotent his administration is and how uneffective he is at finding solutions to the problems facing this country. In fact, it highlights the fact that the actions he has taken are wrong and failing. He can't blame Bush for that.

Wow, even the supercilious Mr. Blow joins the chorus (after having gotten in the mandatory quick shot about O's having inherited the problem).
