The Trump Reality Distortion Filter: why so many

As America speeds closer to the first primary elections, supporting Donald Trump increasingly requires a suspension of disbelief. It requires believing, for example, that, when he said of Fox News’ Megyn Kelly that she had “blood coming out of her wherever” (when she was questioning him during a debate) that he wasn’t suggesting anything untoward or misogynistic. It requires believing that when he said the American public won’t put Republican candidate Carly Fiorina in the White House, because “look at that face!” that he was not commenting on her attractiveness. And it requires believing that when he holds his arms

At a campaign rally in Sarasota, Florida today, Donald Trump insisted that he would “never’ mock anyone for their disability, let alone a New York Times reporter. In case you haven’t caught up yet, here’s the basics: Trump said something untrue about Muslims cheering in New Jersey on 9/11, people called him out on it, Trump decided that one paragraph of a report that in no way backs up what he said actually backs up what he said, the reporter of that story confirmed it does not back up what he said, and Trump responded by mercilessly mocking him. And based on

Acknowledging that the motive of the shooter was still unknown, President Obama lashed out at the "easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them" in the wake of Friday´s shooting at Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs. An abortion-rights group, meanwhile, was quick to blame undercover videos discussing brokering of baby parts that were released throughout the year by the Center for Medical Progress. Robert Lewis Dear, 57, is scheduled to appear in court Monday. He killed one police officer, University of Colorado Officer Garrett Swasey, in the shootout, and two civilians

Barack Obama is blowing past all signs of caution on the left lanes of the road of American politics. That’s a dog-bites-man headline that by now is common knowledge. He no longer cares what Americans think of his leadership. His “my way or the highway” handling of the Syrian refugee crisis, which could endanger the homeland, seals it. Though he gave Iran’s stony-faced mullahs all they wanted and more in his nuclear deal, he has dispensed with even pretending to accommodate the concerns to several governors in his scheme to settle thousands of foreign refugees on their soil. Flinging insults

A crocodile snatched and killed a dog Saturday afternoon at Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. A woman was walking her dog, a medium-sized pit bull mix, without a leash when the canine went near the water and the saltwater crocodile grabbed it about 3 p.m., said Lorenzo Veloz, spokesman for the conservation commission. The dog weighed about 20 to 30 pounds, Veloz said. "It was a saltwater crocodile that normally feeds on raccoons and possums that come up to the water for a drink," Veloz said. "This dog ran up to the water and

(Video) President Barack Obama was met with what appeared to be the U.N.´s version of the Oscars´ "wrap-it-up" music Monday after he significantly overran his allotted time to speak at a global climate change summit. Obama was one of 147 world leaders given a three-minute slot at the COP21 conference to outline their vision for the future of the planet. The president of the free world, however, had other ideas. More than eight and a half minutes into Obama´s address — and with no sign he was stopping soon — three beeps sounded across the auditorium, clearly audible to everyone present

Snapped by her adoring mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, this is little Princess Charlotte at six months old. Not seen in public since her christening in July, two photographs of the fourth in line to the throne have today been released by Kensington Palace as a thank you to the British media for giving William and Kate´s children the chance to grow up away from the spotlight. With her thick brunette hair, Charlotte is very much her mother´s daughter, in contrast to her elder brother, Prince George, two, who has inherited his father´s blonde locks. He appeared, we’re going to watch here for a second to make fun of disabled newspaper reporter,” he continued, “Trump denies that he was impersonating the reporter at the event, the reporter is with the “New York Times” he has a disability Trump

A federal program, once launched, is impossible to kill. It doesn’t matter if the scheme wastes money. It doesn’t matter if the program doesn’t work. It doesn’t even matter if the program does the very opposite of what it is supposed to do. Every government program enters the world with an army of fairy godmothers prepared to fend off any effort to cut the cord. Hence, the staying power of ethanol.

In their new book “Bill & Hillary: So This Is That Thing Called Love,” from Blood Moon Productions, Darwin Porter and Danforth Prince claim that due to Bill Clinton’s reputed prolific philandering, Hillary once demanded that he be tested for HIV, since “he favored unprotected sex.” The book claims both Clintons were relieved that the results were negative. Among other bizarre allegations in the exhaustive and highly unauthorized examination of the Clintons’ political lives, from their Arkansas days to today, is that Bill had the hots for former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The authors claim Bill “tried to seduce her” in her

THE presidential candidate who has most harmed American politics this year is Donald Trump, a bully who has prospered by inciting rage. Yet from the narrower perspective of the Republican Party, the most dangerous candidate of the 2016 pack may just be Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, who is rising in the polls by telling conservative activists a seductive but misleading story about how their party wins elections. Since launching his presidential run, the 44-year-old Texan has built his campaign around a simple pitch: assuring the most conservative third of the Republican electorate, from born-again Christian voters to hardline members of

A suspected burglar who attempted to enter a California home through the chimney died on Saturday after the homeowner lit a fire without realizing anyone was inside, police said. The man appeared to have climbed into the chimney during the night while the owner was away and then became stuck, according to the Fresno County Sheriff´s Office. After the owner of the home in Huron lit a fire in his fireplace Saturday afternoon, he heard a man yelling inside the chimney as the house filled with smoke, the sheriff´s office said in a statement. The homeowner tried to extinguish the
