Donald Trump invoked the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, to criticize the George W. Bush administration as he tangled with Jeb Bush onstage at Saturday night´s debate. “The World Trade Center came down during your brother’s reign," he said as he sparred with Jeb Bush, who defended his brother, saying he secured the nation during a dangerous time. "Remember that." "The World Trade Center came down during the reign...that´s not safe," Trump continued in a later exchange, to loud boos.

We seem to be at a point in the election cycle where, to quote George Orwell, "restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men." So to restate the obvious: Choosing Donald Trump as the Republican party´s nominee would be a mistake. He lacks the character to be a trustworthy president and the convictions to be a conservative one. He is a confidence man who said, a day after winning the New Hampshire primary, "I will be changing very rapidly. I´m capable of changing to anything I want to change to." To invest in this man the accumulated

WASHINGTON -President Barack Obama on Friday set aside 1.8 million acres of Southern California desert for protection, using his sometimes controversial executive power to designate three new national monuments. In a long-anticipated decision, Obama designated the Mojave Trails, Sand to Snow and Castle Mountains national monuments in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. “The California desert is a cherished and irreplaceable resource for the people of Southern California,” Interior Secretary Sally Jewell said. The federal government already owns the affected lands, and Jewell noted that “valid existing” uses, including by the U.S. military, can continue. Obama is designating the new national

Hillary and Bill Clinton were prepared to lose, but there’s a loss and then there’s a shellacking. After barely winning Iowa, with its coin tosses and independent calls for a public recount of the secret ballots, getting trounced by Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire by 20 points suggests tissue-rejection of the Clinton candidacy. It’s likely some of those voters weren’t even pro-Sanders, just turned off by Clinton. The Republican race is starting to look tame by comparison. The rejection went to her character. Among Democrats who say they care most about honesty and trustworthiness, she lost by 86 points. None

El Paso, TX - An El Paso source close to Justice Antonin Scalia tells ABC-7 that the 79-year-old died in his sleep last night after a day of quail hunting at Cibolo Creek Ranch outside of Marfa, Texas. The Justice did not report feeling ill and retired to his room after dinner. The source, who was traveling with Scalia, told ABC-7 an El Paso priest has been called to Marfa. Scalia was the longest-serving current Justice on the Supreme Court. He was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986.

I’m reasonably sure that whether Trump has standing doesn’t depend on whether Cruz is willing to run ads about eminent domain in South Carolina. If @TedCruz doesn’t clean up his act, stop cheating, & doing negative ads, I have standing to sue him for not being a natural born citizen. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 12, 2016 If he has standing, it’s because he’s directly competing with Cruz for the office of the presidency. If he doesn’t, a “dirty trick” by the Cruz campaign won’t confer it on him. Either way, someone who’s sincerely concerned about having a president

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The 2016 campaign has bewildered and captivated George W. Bush. At home in Dallas, the 43rd president rises before dawn and reads political news online. He fires off emails to his old advisers to check on the latest campaign-trail gossip. He tunes into the debates, even though they stretch past his bedtime. In private and among friends, Bush and his wife, Laura, express amazement at an election season that has been hijacked by Donald Trump. At a get-together last month, Clay Johnson, a lifelong friend, recalled that he and Bush said to each other, “Can you believe what’s

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) called for an end of “over-policing” in black neighborhoods during the PBS Democratic presidential debate in Milwaukee, Wis., on Thursday night. “What we have to do is end over-policing in African-American neighborhoods. The reality is that both the African-American community and the white community do marijuana at about equal rates,” Sanders said. “The reality is four times as many blacks get arrested for marijuana. Truth is that far more blacks get stopped for traffic violations.” An undecided voter via Facebook wrote: “Wisconsin is number one in African-American male incarceration, according to a University of Wisconsin

Donald Trump on Friday issued a warning to Ted Cruz, alleging that he has “standing to sue” the Texas senator over questions of his birth and constitutional eligibility to serve in the White House. “If @tedcruz doesn’t clean up his act, stop cheating, & doing negative ads, I have standing to sue him for not being a natural born citizen,” Trump tweeted. The broadside was an escalation in the accusations that the real estate mogul has been lobbing Cruz’s way this week. Trump called Cruz a liar in a series of tweets beginning Thursday that stem from allegations that the

MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell and Chuck Todd were appalled by a new Ted Cruz commercial attacking Hillary Clinton, labeling it “vicious” and “rough.” The campaign spot parodied the 1999 cult classic Office Space, showing “Hillary Clinton” angrily destroying a computer hard drive. After playing a clip, a disgusted Chuck Todd condemned, “That was a little rough. That was a little uncomfortable to watch.” Todd added, “That looked vicious” and suggested the commercial crossed the line. Mitchell lectured, “First of all, Ted Cruz is not running against Hillary Clinton yet. And I just think the parody is great in politics,” but “I´m not sure
